教学过程:
一、Pre-reading
Greeting
Warming-up (2mins)Play a video clip and ask the following question:
(1)What festival are they celebrating in the video
(2)What do people in the West do to celebrate Christmas Tell them to use the pictures and phrases to help them.
to make Christmas pudding to put up a Christmas tree
to decorate the house to give/ open gifts
to sing Christmas songs to hang a stocking
设计意图:利用视频创设情景,引出主题。激活学生背景知识,铺垫语言。
二、While-reading
READ AND EXPLORE
1. 学生活动:阅读文章,完成练习。
The following is a memory of a woman about Christmas. Read the story and find out why it was such a memorable Christmas to her

Group Work

Suggested answers: Granny spent most of her time on the sofa by the fire. Her hand was slightly shaky. She stayed inside by the fire and didn't go outside. The writer didn't notice it at that time. The writer thinks of her often and misses her very much.
Express yourself
Read the last paragraph. Why does the writer think Christmas is “magical”
Suggested answers:
The writer thinks Christmas is “magical” because of the memories of her granny. Whenever Christmas comes, she thinks of her granny and the happy time they spent during that Christmas.

Summary
Granny arrived in the middle of November on a 1._________(wind) day. 2._________some reasons, I didn't know she was sick. Granny spent most of time on the sofa by the fire, quiet but happy. I wrote a letter to Father Christmas 3.________(tell) him about the presents I wanted and Granny helped me write “Father Christmas, the North Pole” on the envelope.
