拓展练-完形 10’
When something goes wrong, it can be very pleasing to say, “Well, it’s so-and-so’s mistake.” Or “I know I’m late, but it isn’t my 11 . The bus was late.” It is probably not your mistake, but you form the habit of blaming somebody or something else for a 12 situation. However, you can have great power over what happens to you if you stop paying attention to whom to 13 and start paying attention to how to improve the situation. This is the winner’s key to success.
Winners are great at solving problems. For example, if you were late because the bus was late, maybe you need to 14 home early. Or, you might call a 15
or call friends for help when in need. For another example, if your workmate causes you problems on the job for short of responsibility or 16 , find ways of dealing with his irresponsibility or inability rather than simply blame the person. Ask to work with a 17 person, or leave this person with some 18 jobs. You should accept that the person is not reliable(可靠的) and find creative ways to work 19 .
This is what being a winner is all about—no matter what happens, creatively using your skills and talents 20 you can be successful. Winners don’t have 21 problems in their lives; they have just as many difficult situations to face as 22 else. They are just better at seeing those problems as 23 and chances to develop their own talents. So, 24 paying attention to “whose mistake it is”. Once you are confident about your power over bad situations, problems are just 25 stones.
11. A. rule B. excuse C. mistake D. question
12. A. bad B. good C. late D. right
13. A. beat B. blame C. follow D. encourage
14. A. go B. get C. drive D. leave
15. A. taxi B. doctor C. police D. station
16. A. ability B. interest C. feelings D. education
17. A. clever B. funny C. strong D. different
18. A. good B. hard C. simple D. boring
19. A. hard B. easily C. secretly D. successfully
20. A. if B. though C. because D. so that
21. A. few B. fewer C. many D. much
22. A. nobody B. anybody C. anything D. somebody

Can a high school student have a part-time job After all, we are already so busy with our studies. In fact,
it can be done.
My new neighbors are a foreign family who just came to China. The parents are both English teachers and
their son, John, is a student. They asked me whether I would be willing to work as a “part-time teacher” to teach John some basicChinese so that he could get around better, and I agreed.
At first, I thought it would be a piece of cake. So I didn’t really prepare anything in advance (提前). I thought I had enough Chinese to teach a foreigner.
To think is one thing. However, to do it well is another. When I started teaching John, I realized that there’s so much culture and history in our language. Why are there four tones( 声 调 ) in Chinese Who created Chinese characters Why some Chinese characters look like the things they stand for and some don’t
I came home, feeling quite sorry because I didn’t know the answers to those questions. I always thought teaching Chinese was easy, but actually it isn’t. Chinese is a beautiful language that is rich in culture. What we have learned at school is just the tip of the iceberg (冰山一角).
This part-time job is indeed a great learning experience for me. I realize I need a deeper understanding of my own language, so that one day, I will be able to proudly share more fantastic Chinese knowledge with foreigners.

If you find it hard to learn English, think of the foreigners who learn Chinese. The number of people learning Chinese around the world reached 100 million in 2017, up from 30 million in 2004, according to People’s Daily. Europe’s first Chinese-English primary school recently opened in the British capital of London.
But do you know how foreigners learn Chinese What difficulties do they usually meet when learning about Chinese culture And how do they overcome these difficulties Mike Fuksman, Teens’ foreign editor from the United States, has lived in China for more than seven years. He wants to share his story of learning Chinese.
Like many foreigners, I only knew two words of Chinese ( “hello” and “thank you” ) when I came to China in 2009. As you can probably guess, my life was difficult for a while after I arrived. Simple tasks like ordering food or taking a taxi were quite stressful.
I knew I had to learn more Chinese, so I signed up for a class. My teacher was very helpful, although I didn’t learn enough to have a real conversation. Later I studied on my own as well, but my progress was still slow. I became very upset.
Finally, I found that the best way to learn Chinese is to make friends with native speakers and spend time with them. Around this time, I started playing in a band with a Chinese woman who became one of my best friends in Beijing. I learned a lot of Chinese by hanging out with her.
For example, she taught me a lot of words about music, such as “melody”. She learned a lot of English from me in return, so it was a good way to exchange language and culture. She is still one of my best friends and we talk to each other nearly every day.
I’ve learned enough Chinese to take care of difficult tasks, such as booking train tickets and negotiating with my landlord. However, going to the bank and understanding technological vocabulary are still tough for me.
These days, there are more foreigners who are studying Chinese. I can understand why it’s a fascinating language. There are always new words waiting to be discovered.
61. When did the number of people learning Chinese reach 100 million worldwide
A. 2004 B. 2009 C. 2017 D. 2021
62. Where is Europe’s first Chinese-English primary school located
A. Beijing B. London C. New York D. Paris
63. Who is Mike Fuksman
A. A Chinese language teacher. B. A helpful musician.
C. A foreign editor from the United States. D. A Chinese woman who taught him Chinese.
64. What can be inferred from the following passage
A. I still find it hard to go to the bank and understand technology words.
B. My life was smooth for a while after I arrived in China.
C. I signed up for a class to make more friends.
D. A Chinese woman learned very little from me.
65. What can be the best title for the passage
A. What rules should foreigners remember in China
B. Why do more and more foreigners come to China
C. Where is the best place to enjoy Chinese music
D. How do foreigners learn the Chinese language
