Reading
Teaching objectives
knowledge objectives:
Students can recognize and master the words and phrases such as generous, willing, voice, any time…
Students will understand the main idea of the passage and learn more about friends’ characteristics.
ability objectives:
Students can improve their reading skills to catch the key and detailed information.
Students can express their opinions about their best friends.
emotional objectives:
Students can know more about their friends.
Teaching key and difficult points:
How to improve students’ reading abilities and help them understand the topic of the passage.
Teaching procedures
Step1 Lead-in
Introduce the appearance, hobby and characteristic of my best friends to the students, and then invite some students to introduce their partner.
After that, the teacher will give corresponding comments on students’ answers and show the topic of this lesson.
Step2 Pre-reading :
New-knowledge teaching
With the help of some pictures , the teacher will guide students to understand the meaning and usage of the new words,and phrases including “generous”, “willing” “any time” ......
Step3 While-reading:
global reading:
Skimming:Students will be asked to read the passage quickly to get the main idea of the passage.
Scanning:Students will be asked to locate certain information by reading the passage quickly and fill in the blanks in B1.
detailed reading:
Students should read the text again and finish B2 on page 9, they should read the sentence and tell us why it is false.
Reading after the audio: students will listen to the audio and read after it. They should pay attention to the pronunciation and intonation.
Step4 Post-reading
Group discussion
Students need to work in groups to describe their best friends . The teacher gave the following two questions for the students’ reference.
1.How do you know each other
2.Why did you two become good friends What attract you to him/her
Several minutes will be given. The teacher may take part in students’ discussion. When time’s up, some volunteers will be invited. Then the teacher will comment on some group’s performance.

recite the new words
Write a composition called My Best Friend according to what we learned in class
