36.上文“Running is a great way to get in shape and just about everyone can do it. However, many make a number of common mistakes, which can interfere (妨碍) with training or lead to injury. (跑步是保持体形的好方法,几乎每个人都可以做到。然而,许多人会犯一些常见的错误,这些错误可能会干扰训练或导致受伤。)”指出跑步时有些人会犯一些常见的错误,这些错误可能会干扰训练或导致受伤,由本段标题“Common Mistakes New Runners Make(新跑步者常犯的错误)”可知,本文主要指出新跑步者会犯的错误,根据下文“keep these things in mind to help you increase your chances of running success.(记住这些事情可以帮助您增加跑步成功的机会。)”
37.上文“One of the biggest mistakes new runners make is doing too much too soon. Slowly easing into a training program will help reduce the risk of injury, so you can continue on with your new running routine(新跑步者犯的最大错误之一就是跑得太多太快。慢慢地进入训练计划将有助于降低受伤风险,这样您就可以继续新的跑步习惯)”指出刚开始跑步的人会跑得太快,所以要慢慢进入训练,不要跑太多太快,G项“专家建议每周增加跑步距离不超过10%”符合,指出不要跑太多,故选G。
38.此处是本段小标题,即新手跑步者常犯的错误之一,根据下文“Beginners might think they need to run every day (or nearly every day) to meet their fitness or weight-loss goals, but this couldn’t be further from the truth. Running is a high-impact activity which can be really hard on your body. So it’s important to give your body a rest between workouts.(初学者可能认为他们需要每天(或几乎每天)跑步才能达到健身或减肥目标,但这与事实相差甚远。
As an artist who shares her journey on social media, I’m often asked by curious followers how to begin an art journey. Unfortunately, there is no magic list I can offer. I do remember, though, what it was like to be a complete beginner. So I’ve put together some good tips for starting an art journey.
Start small. I suggest using a sketchbook (素描本) for small studies. These small studies provide inspiration and may be a springboard for more complex works in the future. 16 You’ll want to look back on your journey to see how far you’ve come.
Paint often and paint from life. There’s no better way to improve than to put in those brush miles. Whether you paint still lifes, portraits, or landscapes, paint from life as much as possible. 17
Continually challenge yourself to try something new. 18 Artistic growth can be a bit painful. Welcome to the club;we’ve all been there. I love taking on challenges. I once took up a challenge to create a painting every day for a month and post the works online.
19 Seeking and accepting constructive feedback (反馈) is crucial to growth. I post my work on social media and, in turn, have met some of the kindest people. They make me feel valued and respected, no matter my level of artistic ability.
The journey you’re on won’t follow a straight path. 20 Push through, give it time and put in the effort. You will harvest the rewards of an artistic life.
A. Get out of your comfort zone.
B. Make career plans and set goals.
C. Don’t throw away your beginner art.
D. Share your work if you feel comfortable doing so.
E. You’ll hit roadblocks, and you’ll feel discouraged at times.
F. Evaluate your performance and, if needed, redefine your role.
G. You’ll develop that painting muscle memory that only comes with repetition.
C17. G18. A19. D20. E
I suggest using a sketchbook (素描本) for small studies. These small studies provide inspiration and may be a springboard for more complex works in the future. (从小开始。我建议使用一个素描本进行小规模的学习和实践。这些小的学习和实践可以提供灵感,并成为未来更复杂的作品的跳板)”以及后文“You’ll want to look back on your journey to see how far you’ve come. (你会想要回顾一下自己的艺术之旅,看看自己已经取得多少进步)”可知,空处应是一个过渡句,从给出建议使用一个素描本进行小规模的学习和实践,到回顾自己的艺术之旅,所以C项“Don’t throw away your beginner art. (不要扔掉你的初学时的艺术作品)”符合文意,和后文形成顺承关系。故选C项。
17.分析设空处,位于段尾,是对本段的总结,根据前文“Paint often and paint from life. There’s no better way to improve than to put in those brush miles. Whether you paint still lifes, portraits, or landscapes, paint from life as much as possible. (经常作画,且从生活中作画。没有什么比不断练习更能提高你的艺术水平了。无论你是绘制静物、肖像还是风景,都要尽可能地从真实生活中去观察和绘制)”可知,本段主要讲述不断练习绘画,所以G项“You’ll develop that painting muscle memory that only comes with repetition. (你会逐渐形成只有通过反复练习才能获得的绘画肌肉记忆)”是对前文的总结。故选G项。
18.分析设空处,空处位于第二句,此处应是对前一句的进一步解释,并同时引出后文,根据前文“Continually challenge yourself to try something new. (不断挑战自己,尝试新事物)”以及后文“Artistic growth can be a bit painful. (艺术的成长可能会有点痛苦)”可知,A项“Get out of your comfort zone. (走出你的舒适区)”是对前句的进一步说明,和后文构成顺承关系。故选A项。
19.分析设空处,位于段首,是本段的中心句,根据后文“Seeking and accepting constructive feedback (反馈) is crucial to growth. I post my work on social media and, in turn, have met some of the kindest people. They make me feel valued and respected, no matter my level of artistic ability. (寻求并接受有建设性的反馈对于你的成长非常重要。我在社交媒体上发布我的作品,并因此结识了一些最友好的人。无论我的艺术水平如何,他们都让我感到受到了重视和尊重)”可知,本段主要讲述了是分享自己的作品,所以D项“Share your work if you feel comfortable doing so. (如果你感觉舒适的话,分享你的作品)”符合文意,是本段的中心句。故选D项。
20.分析设空处,空处位于第二句,此处应是对前一句的进一步解释,并同时引出后文,根据前文“The journey you’re on won’t follow a straight path. (你的旅程不会是一条笔直的道路)”以及后文“Push through, give it time and put in the effort. You will harvest the rewards of an artistic life. (坚持下去,给它时间,付出努力。你将收获艺术生活的回报)”可知,E项“You’ll hit roadblocks, and you’ll feel discouraged at times. (你会遇到障碍,有时你会感到气馁)”是对前句的进一步说明,和后文构成顺承关系。故选E项。

Writing an essay is a difficult process for most people. However, the process can be made easier if you learn to practice three simple techniques.
36 When you are first trying to think of ideas for an essay, put your pen to your paper and write nonstop for ten or fifteen minutes without letting your pen leave the paper. Stay loose and free. 37 Don’t worry about grammar or spelling. Even though this technique won’t work for everyone, it helps many people get a good store of ideas to draw on.
The next technique is to write your draft rapidly without worrying about being perfect. 38 Yet, by learning to live with imperfection, you will save yourself headaches and a wastepaper basket full of crumpled (弄皱) paper. Think of your first draft as a path cut out of the jungle—as part of an exploration, not as a complete highway.
The third technique is to try printing out a triple—spaced (三倍行距) copy to allow space for revision. 39 As a result, these writers never get in the habit of crossing out chunks (大块) of their draft and writing revisions in the blank space. After you have revised your draft until it is too messy to work from anymore, you can enter your changes into your word processor. 40 The resulting blank space invites you to revise.
A. Make sure your handwriting is neat.
B. Let your pen follow the waves of thought.
C. The second draft of the essay should be better.
D. First of all, learn the technique of nonstop writing.
E. Too many writers try to get their drafts right the first time.
F. Many beginning writers don’t leave enough space to revise.
G. Then you can print out a fresh draft, again setting your text on triple-space.
D 37. B 38. E 39. F 40. G
36. D。空格处是本段的主题句,由空后的“When you are first trying to think of ideas for an essay, put your pen to your paper and write nonstop for ten or fifteen minutes without letting your pen leave the paper.(当你第一次想写一篇文章的时候,把笔放在纸上,不间断地写10到15分钟,不要让笔离开纸。)”可知,本段主要讲的是要学会不间断地写,D选项“First of all, learn the technique of nonstop writing.(首先,学习不间断写作的技巧。)”
,空后说“Don’t worry about grammar or spelling.(不要担心语法和拼写。)”,因此空格处应说按心里想的写,自由发挥,B选项“Let your pen follow the waves of thought.(让你的笔跟随思想的波浪。)”
38. E。空前说“The next technique is to write your draft rapidly without worrying about being perfect.(下一个技巧是快速写草稿,不要担心是否完美。)”,空后说“Yet, by learning to live with imperfection, you will save yourself headaches and a wastepaper basket full of crumpled (弄皱) paper.(然而,通过学习与不完美共存,你将避免自己的头痛和一个装满皱巴巴的废纸篓。)”,E选项“Too many writers try to get their drafts right the first time.(太多的作家试图在第一次就把草稿写好。)”
39. F。空前说“The third technique is to try printing out a triple—spaced (三倍行距) copy to allow space for revision.(第三种方法是打印出三倍行距的副本,以便有修改的空间。)”
40. G。空前说“After you have revised your draft until it is too messy to work from anymore, you can enter your changes into your word processor.(当你修改你的草稿,直到它太乱以至于无法继续工作,你可以把你的修改输入到你的文字处理器中。)”,空后说“The resulting blank space invites you to revise.(由此产生的空白允许您修改。)”,因此空格处应说输入到文字处理器后应该做什么,G选项“Then you can print out a fresh draft, again setting your text on triple-space.(然后你可以打印一份新的草稿,同样将文本设置为三倍行距。)”

If the only reading you ever do is the novel or magazine, the speed at which you read -probably does not matter very much. But if you have to read a great deal for study, you will appreciate the benefits of being able to read more quickly. 36
·Before you open the book, make sure that you are comfortable. You need a seat which supports your back and the book should be at the right distance from your eyes. 37
38 Look at the table of contents, the preface, the chapter heading, etc. This will help you to decide whether you really need to read the whole book or only certain parts of it. Ten minutes spent in this way could save you quite a lot of time in the long run.

(2024·河南周口·一模)Although I learned English for years. I could not speak in complete sentences when I studied in London as an exchange student. In the beginning, I even needed to think twice before replying to a simple greeting. 1 If you have a similar experience, here are some tips.
Practice “output” more often; 2 It’s OK to start with only simple sentences or short paragraphs. Meanwhile, you can even practice your grammar.
At the time I didn’t have opportunities to talk with the local people. So, I self-talked to describe what happened around to myself.
Another method is that you can record yourself speaking and then listen to the recordings to identify areas that needs improving. 3

Language is not a hard science. It is more than just a set of rules, but a means of communication. Like small children picking up their mother tongue, we can get speaking skills more naturally by becoming completely involved in the language and using it. When using a language, we focus on the idea itself, rather than the rules.
Find the “support group” that suits you,
Find a native tutor. A language tutor is a great idea where you can practice regularly and get your mistakes fixed in time. 5 I feel much less shy when I speak English with other non-native speakers there. For example, joining a language group is really a great way to practice output.
A.Communicate with local children.
B.Raise your mind like a kid.
C.It is of much benefit to write in the language.
D.It was so painful that I was so confused about my language ability.
E.Or try some language clubs.
F.It is easier for you to “open your mouth”.
G.It doesn’t matter if you make mistakes.
1.根据上文“Although I learned English for years. I could not speak in complete sentences when I studied in London as an exchange student. In the beginning, I even needed to think twice before replying to a simple greeting.(虽然我学英语很多年了。当我作为交换生在伦敦学习时,我不能说完整的句子。一开始,我甚至需要在回答一个简单的问候之前三思而后行。)”可知,空前主要讲述的是作者学习英语多年后还是很难用英语表达自己。选项D“It was so painful that I was so confused about my language ability.(这太痛苦了,我对自己的语言能力感到困惑。)”
C“It is of much benefit to write in the language.(将语言写出来很有好处)”中的“将语言写出来”也是一种“输出”方式;同时内容上也和下文 “It’s OK to start with only simple sentences or short paragraphs. Meanwhile, you can even practice your grammar. (从简单句或短段开始是可以的。同时,你还可以练习语法。)”保持一致。故选C。
3.根据上文内容“Another method is that you can record yourself speaking and then listen to the recordings to identify areas that needs improving.(另一种方法是你可以录下自己的口语,然后听录音来找出需要改进的地方。)” F“It is easier for you to “open your mouth”. (“张开你的嘴”对你来说更容易。)”是上文内容的自然延续,指的是当我们录下自己的声音找出需要改进的地方后,张开嘴就容易得多。故选F。
4.空处为小标题,为本段主要内容。根据下文“Language is not a hard science. It is more than just a set of rules, but a means of communication. Like small children picking up their mother tongue, we can get speaking skills more naturally by becoming completely involved in the language and using it. When using a language, we focus on the idea itself, rather than the rules(语言不是一门硬科学。它不仅仅是一套规则,而是一种沟通手段。就像小孩子学习母语一样,我们可以通过完全融入语言并使用它来更自然地获得说话技能。当我们使用一门语言时,我们关注的是思想本身,而不是规则,)”可知,我们可以像孩子学习母语一样学习英语,要看重思想而不是规则。选项B“Raise your mind like a kid.(像孩子一样提高你的思维。)”
5.根据空后的内容“For example, joining a language group is really a great way to practice output.(例如,加入一个语言小组确实是练习输出的好方法。)” E“Or try some language clubs.(或者试试语言俱乐部。)”
(2024·河南·一模)Your alarm goes off on January 1. You force yourself out of bed and drag your feet toward the bathroom, where you glimpse a pale-faced stranger in the mirror. 6 . After a moment, however, you think, “Wait, it’s okay because today is New Year’s Day; there’s time to get back in shape!”
For many people, the start of a new year signals the end of a period of overindulgence (放纵) in diet. 7 . They often revolve around turning oneself into a fit and healthy human being. However, the fact is that approximately 80% of them are abandoned before February. How does that happen 8 . While we may have good intentions when making resolutions, we are not actually making enough determination to live in a more controlled way. Change involves a degree of stress, and someone not mentally equipped to handle that stress will struggle to change.
So, what can you do to achieve your healthy goals in the new year One idea is to think small rather than the opposite. 9 . But in reality change is likely easier in smaller steps, which allows for greater success. Another helpful strategy is to design a personal reward system. Finally, set concrete goals. Instead of making a vague resolution like “I’m going to get in better shape this year”, make a specific one. For example, “I’m going to run for 30 minutes every day” would be far more powerful. Most importantly, remember that despite their name, New Year’s resolutions should be for life. 10 , but with suitable strategies, there is no reason why you cannot stick to your resolutions permanently or at least until March.
A.Change takes time and effort
B.Instinctively, you step back in horror
C.It’s probably related to self-discipline
D.Many people’s plans involve grand measures
E.The answer is likely that we should be confident
F.New Year is a great time to be with family and friends
G.In December it’s often justified by planning New Year’s resolutions
【答案】6.B 7.G 8.C 9.D 10.A
6.根据上文“You force yourself out of bed and drag your feet toward the bathroom, where you glimpse a pale-faced stranger in the mirror. (你强迫自己下了床,慢慢地走向浴室,在那里你在镜子里看到了一个脸色苍白、睡眼惺忪的陌生人)”可知,此刻的自己状态极差;再根据下文“After a moment, however, you think, ‘Wait, it’s okay because today is New Year’s Day; there’s time to get back in shape!’ (然而,过了一会儿,你觉得,‘等等,没关系,因为今天是元旦,是时候恢复身材了!’)”中的“however”可知,空处和下文之间存在转折关系,既然下文为“it’s okay”,那么空处则与此相反,与选项B“你立刻惊恐地退了回去”中的“in horror”相对应。故选B。
7.根据上文“For many people, the start of a new year signals the end of a period of overindulgence (放纵) in diet. (对许多人来说,新年的开始标志着一段时间过度放纵饮食的结束)”和下文“They often revolve around turning oneself into a fit and healthy human being. (它们经常以把自己变成一个健康的人为中心)”可知,上文提到新年的开始标志着结束过度放纵饮食,所以把自己变得更健康应是未来的计划,G项“在12月,人们通常通过制定新年计划来证明这一点”符合语境,故选G。
8.根据上文“However, the fact is that approximately 80% of them are abandoned before February. How does that happen (然而,事实是,大约80%的计划在2月份之前就被遗弃了。这是怎么发生的?)”可知,此处提出一个问题,结合下文“While we may have good intentions when making resolutions, we are not actually making enough determination to live in a more controlled way. (当我们下定决心的时候,我们可能有很好的意图,但我们实际上并没有足够的决心来控制自己的生活)”可知,人们没有足够的决心来执行计划,故C项“这可能与自律有关”回答上文问题,与下文语义一致,故选C。
9.下文“But in reality change is likely easier in smaller steps, which allows for greater success. (但在现实中,小步骤的改变可能更容易,从而取得更大的成功)”提到,在现实中,小步骤的改变可能更容易,空处与下文是转折关系,故空处是说人们制定很多宏伟的计划,D项“许多人的计划都包含宏伟的措施”符合语境,故选D。
10.根据上文“Most importantly, remember that despite their name, New Year’s resolutions should be for life. (最重要的是,请记住,尽管名字叫新年决心,但它应该是终身的)”可知,新年决心应该是终身的,即需要持续的努力,A项“改变需要时间和努力”符合语境,且与下文“but with suitable strategies, there is no reason why you cannot stick to your resolutions permanently or at least until March. (但如果有合适的策略,你没有理由不能永远坚持你的决心,或者至少坚持到3月份)”衔接得当,故选A。

(2024·安徽淮北·一模)Down comforters (羽绒被) are frightening pieces to wash. They’re huge, expensive and filled with delicate material. 21 .
Start with a spot treatment. If you’re washing your comforter because it’s dirty, spot-treat it first. Most food and dirt spots should respond to regular washing agent. But for old or tough spots, soak the area and leave it overnight. Whichever remover (去污剂) you choose, please remember: “ 22 ”. Usually, this will involve spraying them, twisting and rubbing to push the spot treatment into the fabric.
Wash it at least twice. 23 . Then load your comforter into the washing machine, and run it through a delicate cycle with cold or warm water. Wash it a second time on a quick cycle to clean from the down inside. If your comforter seems a little tight in your washing machine, and you’re not positive it had enough room to move around and expose every gap to the second wash cycle, an additional wash could help.
Dry it well. Thoroughly drying your comforter helps ensure the down inside stays fluffy (蓬松的). You don’t want to cook the down with high heat and damage it, though. 24 and remove it from the dryer throughout the cycle (every 20 minutes or so) to redistribute and fluff the down fill.
25 . A good cleaning every few years will help your comforter last a long time, but you’ll still want to refresh a deflated comforter between washes. Use the dryer for about an hour every three to four weeks to kill dust mites and dry out any moisture. Low heat is ideal. To address dust mites, use high heat for 20 minutes and then lower the heat for the rest of the cycle.
A.Run it through the dryer
B.Keep your comforter fresh
C.Follow the directions on the bottle strictly
D.But you can wash your comforter yourself
E.Dry your comforter on low or medium heat
F.Washing it many times may actually help you
G.Confirm your comforter is machine washable first
21.前文“Down comforters (羽绒被) are frightening pieces to wash. They’re huge, expensive and filled with delicate material. (羽绒被是很难洗的东西。它们又大又贵,里面装满了纤弱的材料)”讲述羽绒被又大又贵,清洗很不容易,由后文小标题可知,下文讲述了如何清洗羽绒被的建议,因此推断D项“但是你可以自己洗被子”符合语境,与前文不好清洗是转折关系,引出下文的介绍。故填D。
22.根据前文“Whichever remover (去污剂) you choose, please remember (无论你选择哪种去污剂,请记住)”和后文“Usually, this will involve spraying them, twisting and rubbing to push the spot treatment into the fabric.( 通常,这将包括喷洒、拧转和摩擦,以推动斑点处理进入织物)”可知,此处讲述了无论哪种去污剂,都要按照具体步骤使用,因此推断C项“严格按照瓶子上的说明使用”符合语境,下文详细解释如何使用。故填C。
23.根据后文“Then load your comforter into the washing machine, and run it through a delicate cycle with cold or warm water. Wash it a second time on a quick cycle to clean from the down inside.( 然后把你的被子放进洗衣机,用冷水或温水进行一个精细的循环。第二次清洗,快速循环,从内部清洁)”可知,下文讲述了接下来的做法,被子放进洗衣机里清洗两遍,因此推断G项“首先确认你的被子是可机洗的”符合语境,先确认被子可以机洗,才能放进洗衣机。故填G。
24.前文“You don’t want to cook the down with high heat and damage it, though.( 不过,你也不想用高温把它煮熟,损坏它吧)”说明高温会损坏羽绒被,后文“and remove it from the dryer throughout the cycle (every 20 minutes or so) to redistribute and fluff the down fill. (在整个循环过程中(每20分钟左右)将其从烘干机中取出,以便让绒毛重新分散、蓬松填充)”讲述用烘干机烘干羽绒被的过程中应多次拿出来整理,因此推断E项“用小火或中火烘干被子”符合语境,承上启下。故选E。
25.空处为段落小标题,根据后文“A good cleaning every few years will help your comforter last a long time, but you’ll still want to refresh a deflated comforter between washes. Use the dryer for about an hour every three to four weeks to kill dust mites and dry out any moisture. Low heat is ideal. To address dust mites, use high heat for 20 minutes and then lower the heat for the rest of the cycle. ( 每隔几年好好清洗一次会让你的棉被用得更久,但你还是想在两次清洗之间给瘪了的棉被换一次新的。每三到四周用一个小时的烘干机来杀死尘螨和干燥任何水分)”可知,本段主要讲述如何让被子在清洗的间隔中保持清新,因此推断B项“保持你的羽绒被清新”符合语境。故选B。
(2024·安徽合肥·一模)When something goes wrong, do you tend to bounce back or fall apart Here are some strategics to help you manage a personal setback (挫折) and get back on track toward achieving your goal.
● Realize it’s normal. Less than 20 percent of people successfully achieve their goal the first time around. It’s normal and expected for setbacks to occur. 26 Knowing this, it’s important to anticipate that the main task will be how to effectively manage the setback when it arises.
● Don’t deny it. Sometimes it’s hard to recognize a setback. The problem can be staring you right in the face, but you may deny there’s any cause for alarm. 27 This inability to acknowledge the problem doesn’t mean you’re stupid. It’s just that denial can cloud your awareness of the issue. It’s important to be receptive to the honest feedback.
28 Stop and consider carefully what went wrong. The most common causes of a setback are personal worries, overconfidence, and poor coping skills. Take a look at any factor that may have contributed to the setback: where you were, who you were with, what you were thinking and feeling.
● Learn from it. Learn from your analysis of the setback, and adjust your plan to try to prevent similar things from happening the next time. Each time you fine-tune your plan and put it into action again, you actually improve your odds of eventual success. 29
Remind yourself that your setback is a slip instead of a fall. 30 After adjusting, you can still make progress toward success again.
A.Don’t take it seriously.
B.Analyze what happened.
C.You haven’t lost all of the knowledge, skills, and support.
D.In other words, it’s not whether a challenge will happen, but it’s when.
E.This is because you learn from each misstep to make your plan more effective.
F.Friends or family will voice their concerns, but you still may not be able to accept it.
G.You might even write about past experiences in a journal to guide your future behavior.
【答案】26.D 27.F 28.B 29.E 30.C

30.根据前文“Remind yourself that your setback is a slip instead of a fall.(提醒自己,你的挫折是一次滑倒,而不是跌倒。)”和后文“After adjusting, you can still make progress toward success again.(调整之后,你仍然可以再次向成功迈进。)”

It also sets a mental time r to produce melatonin, the so-called sleep hormone, that evening. Aim for 15 to 30 minutes of direct light first and two 15-minute outdoor breaks during the day. 33
Skip salty snacks before bed. In a Japanese study, researchers followed 321 patients with high-salt diets and sleep issues for 12 weeks. 34 And those who consumed more salt woke up more often to go to the bathroom.
35 If you need to air complaints to your family, don’t wait until night. Tough discussions are less likely to disturb your sound sleep if you initiate them earlier. But most have at least a high school diploma and, in many cases, they have a college degree in literature or a related field. For professional book reviewers, an English or writing degree is also a popular choice.
It generally takes much patience to become a book reviewer. Also, it’s important to learn much about book reviewing ahead of time. Read as many book reviews as possible to get an idea of the tone and content of the reviews. And remember book reviews are a little different from book critiques. 37 .
If you want to become a book reviewer, it’s necessary to determine what type of book you wish to review. Most book reviewers specialize in one specific type. 38 . Whichever type you want to review, you should truly enjoy reading it and be relatively knowledgeable about common themes and plot methods.
39 . Even if the reviews are never published, it’s important to have pieces of book reviews. Most editors won’t hire a reviewer without any pieces of book reviews. It may be easier to start writing for a university newspaper or a local newspaper while you’re still in college. Another option is to write reviews and post them on a blog. Thus, you prepare yourself for becoming a book reviewer.
Most book reviewers do not work for one particular medium and are paid per piece. 40 . In exchange, they will receive free books to review, sometimes ahead of their publication dates. It can be difficult to get started, as with any freelance writing career, but for someone who enjoys reading and writing about books, it is an excellent choice.

(2024·吉林延边·一模)When you look at yourself in the mirror, do you focus on something you wish were different, and hear a critical inside voice 41 . But if you are ready to be kind to yourself and willing to send that negative voice away forever, how do you begin There are three steps to overcome our “negativity bias” (负面偏见).
1. Start with Mindful Awareness
Being aware of how you are treating yourself is really the first step. 42 . Use your actual name as you describe what you are doing, seeing, and feeling.
Then, instead of criticizing yourself, be curious about what you did and the reasons behind it. Remind yourself that you are doing the best with what you have. And pay your attention to the positive side of the situation.
2. 43
We all are worthy of love and we need to show loving kindness to ourselves. That might seem awkward at first, but with a little practice, the process will become easier. Soon the positive feeling you receive from self-kindness will provide you with a sense of happiness.
One of the best practices to build up your self-kindness is called “Note to a Dear Friend”. When you are facing a challenge or difficulty, write a note to a friend as if they were facing the same problem. 44 . Then, take the note and change your friend’s name to your own.
3. Recognize That You Aren’t Alone
Not one of us lives a perfect life. Everyone faces challenges and makes mistakes. 45 . First, you get a little bit less lonely. You are not the only person suffering, and knowing that takes a weight off your shoulders. Second, it becomes a little easier to open up to others, and say, “I need help.” We don’t have to pretend that everything is great when it isn’t. It’s OK to take off our masks and let people know exactly how we feel!
A.Practice Kindness
B.Show Others Kindness
C.It is important to face them
D.Simply name your feeling and inside voice
E.Write down what you think would help your friend
F.When we recognize that, valuable things will happen
G.If so, you may have the tendency to criticize yourself
【答案】41.G 42.D 43.A 44.E 45.F
41.前文“When you look at yourself in the mirror, do you focus on something you wish were different, and hear a critical inside voice (当你看着镜子里的自己,你是否专注于你希望有所不同的事情,并听到一个批评的声音)”表明对自己不满意,后文“But if you are ready to be kind to yourself and willing to send that negative voice away forever, how do you begin (但是,如果你已经准备好善待自己,并愿意永远把那些消极的声音送走,你该如何开始呢)”表明要善待自己,G选项“如果是这样,你可能有批评自己的倾向”中so指代前一句内容,且criticize与critical呼应。故选G项。
42.前文“Being aware of how you are treating yourself is really the first step.(意识到你如何对待自己是真正的第一步)”为本段的总起句,后文“Use your actual name as you describe what you are doing, seeing, and feeling.(用你的真名来描述你正在做的、看到的和感觉到的事情)”为具体的例子,表示接纳自己,D选项“简单地说出你的感觉和内心的声音”同样为接纳自己,承认自己的感受和内心的例子,符合语境。故选D项。

(2024·黑龙江哈尔滨·一模)As an author and journalist, I recognize how lucky I am to be following my childhood ambitions, but I would be lying if I said there aren’t regular periods when that passion weakens. 46 Losing the spark for work may be a sign that you need to change careers, but such an extreme move is not always possible. Fortunately, recent studies show some practical strategies to reignite their passion and motivation.
Hold the belief that one’s passion can be developed. According to a study by Patricia Chen, people’s mindsets fall into two main parts. The fit-theorists believe there is a job fit for every individual and finding the right job determines one’s happiness and success at work. 47 They believe that passion is developed through a learning process within any chosen job.
Set small achievable goals. Chen’s findings agree with other psychological researches. These studies suggest a few other ways of regaining your passion. One of the most useful techniques is “proximal (近端) goal setting”. This is particularly useful when you feel overwhelmed with a new big project, in which the challenge is so great, and the reward so distant that you struggle to re start the fire. 48 Then they are much quicker to complete, allowing you to enjoy the warm feeling of satisfaction when you tick them off your plan.
49 Taking some time to think about our overall goals, looking for the benefits that our work is providing for others, reaching out to inspirational colleagues and setting out a plan with small rewards—these are simple actions that we could all take to boost our enthusiasm.
Take up a hobby. This could also give you a sense of purpose and achievement, so that your job is not the only place to find satisfaction in your life. 50
A.The develop-theorists, in contrast, think differently.
B.Weigh up the pros and cons.
C.Take action.
D.It can undoubtedly cheer you up when work is just work.
E.To apply this technique, you would split the project into bite-sized tasks.
F.Many people are losing their enthusiasm for the careers they once loved.
G.Setting a distant target to struggle to achieve can offer you a greater reward.

51
Do you have trouble sharing your thoughts or worry no one will listen if you do Making your voice heard means understanding that your words matter and your opinions count. Dr Julia Clements, a psychologist, says that it means expressing your views, thoughts and feelings, not bottling them all up, and being open to hearing the thoughts, feelings and views of others too. 52 In fact you don’t have to use your voice at all. “You can express what you like and don’t like or what you want for the future by writing or drawing instead,” says Clements. “It’s about finding ways to share what matters to you,” she explains.

Your voice can make a big difference to other people too, including friends and families. Clements says, “You can spread kindness and happiness simply by speaking. With a few kind words, you could help someone feel good about themselves or let them know they are supported.” 54
How can you find your voice
Clements suggests practising conversations with friends, parents or carers on the way home from school and seeing if you have different opinions about something. If you’re struggling to explain your feelings, find a way that feels right for you, whether it’s talking face-to-face or writing it down. 55 When you’re ready, “Take a deep breath and believe in yourself,” says Clements. “Know that your opinion matters.”

If you decide that you need to read the whole book, decide how much you can read at a time. 39 A history book which may contain the facts in story form will be easier to read than one dealing with scientific subjects. In the former case you may be able to read a chapter. In the latter you may only be able to read one page.
Always keep a pencil and paper beside you. 40 Note also the facts important for your purpose as well as anything which leads you to further research. You don't have to write these things in detail. It is enough to put the page number and one or two words as a reminder.
A. Stop to have a rest now and then.
B. Spend a few minutes looking through the book.
C. This depends on the type of book you are reading.
D. Here are some tips to help improve your reading speed.
E. Make a note of any page which is of special importance.

G.Confirm your comforter is machine washable first
(2024·安徽合肥·一模)When something goes wrong, do you tend to bounce back or fall apart Here are some strategics to help you manage a personal setback (挫折) and get back on track toward achieving your goal.

Test your pillow. If you bought your pillow in 2022, it’s already old. The National Sleep Foundation suggests replacing your pillow every one to two years. 32 “When your brain is sending pain signals, it can’t send sleep signals,” says Dr Michael J Breus, a clinical psychologist and sleep specialist.
Get an hour of sunlight each day. Morning sunlight is important for good sleep. “It stops producing melatonin in your brain, which, helps relieve the sleepy morning feeling,” Breus says.
Arguments can activate your sympathetic nervous system, which disturbs sleep. Some research even suggests that going to bed angry may make you bad-tempered the next morning.

But most have at least a high school diploma and, in many cases, they have a college degree in literature or a related field. For professional book reviewers, an English or writing degree is also a popular choice.

3. Recognize That You Aren’t Alone
Not one of us lives a perfect life. Everyone faces challenges and makes mistakes. 45 . First, you get a little bit less lonely. You are not the only person suffering, and knowing that takes a weight off your shoulders.
(2024·广西南宁·一模)Finding the words to explain how you feel isn’t always easy. This is why young people’s mental health charity has made “My Voice Matters” the theme of this year’s Children’s Mental Health Week.
Why is it important
53 Scientists have discovered that sharing your feelings produces a feel-good chemical in your brain that makes you feel relaxed and calm.

(2024·广西·一模)If you’re an aspiring director that wants to start a successful film career, you should start by creating your first short film. While it can seem like a daunting task at first, with the proper strategies, creating a short movie is just a matter of having good ideas and utilizing common filming techniques.
Think of an idea for a short film. 56 Focus on one core idea so that the short story isn’t overly complicated. Consider what kind of tone you want for the film and whether it will be a horror, drama, or experimental movie.
57 If you don’t want to write your own script, you can search online for scripts that other people have already written. If you plan on shooting your short film to make a profit, make sure to reach out to the screenwriter to get their permission to use it. Some screenwriters will sell you their script for a fee.
Look for locations. Find locations to match the script. Ask small businesses and shops if you can use their locations for a short film. If the film takes place indoors, you may be able to use your own apartment or house. If the shoot is happening outdoors, find a safe and legal place to film. 58
Rehearse the scene. Once the actors get onto the set, have them go through a basic reading of the script. Then, have the actors act out the scene. As they go through the scene, tell the actors what you want them to do, how to interact with the environment, and let them know of any modifications that you want to see in their acting. 59 The read through of the script can be done anywhere, but you should try to do the blocking on set.
In addition, if the actors have to wear a cultural or religious piece, be sure to study it. Don’t just throw the piece on. 60 If you are on a tight budget, you can have the actors provide outfits from their own wardrobe, but make sure that what they find meets your vision.
A.Search for scripts online.
B.Be as accurate as possible.
C.Do a rough cut of the scenes.

E.Select filming equipment that meets your needs.
F.Think of a short story that you want to tell in under 10 minutes.

Figure out what you’re scared of and do it continuously.
If you’re a salesman, and you’re scared of talking to people personally or over the phone, now, instead of being scared and thinking you’ll fail, spend at least five minutes a day picking up the phone and making a call. Someone may hang up on you. 72
Eventually, you can look at fear in the eyes and say, “Go on, I’m not scared!”
