Activity 1 T gives some sentences and asks Ss to draw the components of each sentence. Recall how many basic sentence structure there are, write them down. T asks Ss to read the sentences in the left column in Activity 1 and recall Meng Hao’s story. Match the sentences that share the same structures. 5. T helps Ss summarize what is “subject”,”verb”,”object”,”predicative”,”object complement”,”adverbial”,”attributive”and summarize the main features of each sentence pattern. 1. Draw the components of each sentence. 2. Ss recall and review basic sentence structures. 3. Ss finish Activity 1 on page 5. 4. Ss summarize the main features of each sentence pattern. Find the basic structures of simple sentences and make a conclusion according to the rule.
Activity 2 T gives the task in Activity 2 and offers help. 1. Ss look at the pictures and describe what’s happening and tell the story with their own ending. 2. Ss describe the story with the basic sentence structures. Use language in the real situation.
