教学难点: Grasp the technical aspects of Chinese Mars probe mission, and the sequence of events during the mission, especially for learners with limited prior knowledge.
教学过程
Step1 Lead-in Activity 1: Show students pictures of Mars in the solar system and encourage them to freely discuss what they know about Mars. T: Are we alone in the universe What’s out there Can you guess which planet in the solar system is in the picture T: How much do you know about Mars Activity 2: Display the cover image from the textbook’s video and ask students how humans explore Mars. T: How do people explore Mars Step 2 Before you watch Activity 3:Read the statements below and decide whether they are true (T) or false (F). 1.Mars is the fourth planet from the Sun and the smallest planet in the solar system. 2.It is one of the few planets that we can see with the naked eye. 3.Like Earth, Mars has volcanoes, valleys, polar ice caps, seasons, and weather. 4.Olympus Mons, the largest volcano on Mars, is about twice as high as Mount Qomolangma. Step3 While you watch Activity 4:Check your answers in Before You Watch 1.Mars is the fourth planet from the Sun and the smallest planet in the solar system. Step 4 After you watch Activity 6: Brainstorming Why is it significant to explore the Mars despite many challenges How can students prepare for Mars exploration Step5 Assignment Search for more materials related to China’s Mars exploration program, and conduct an interview in the form of role-play with your peers between space experts and journalists. Record the interview’s content by creating a short video.
