1.教材分析 【What】 语法板块(Discover Useful Structure)的话题是表达感情和描述情形, 所选语篇主 要体现人与自我主题语境下通过音乐丰富自我并采取积极人生态度的内容要求。此板 块有三个语篇,第一个是 Student Book 部分活动二的语篇记叙了有音乐才华 Henry 受 邀去银色大厅演出后失明但一直以音乐作为疗愈的工具积极生活, 在音乐中寻找光明; 第二个语篇是 Student Book 部分活动四的段落介绍了中国摇滚冲击力乐队显著的品质 , 敢于面对质疑、永不言弃、团结一心共寻辉煌;第三个语篇是 Workbook 部分活动 五的对话, Linda 向 George 询问音乐节的感受。 【How】 Student Book 中的语篇都是第三人称,用到了介绍语篇主体基本情况的表达,三 个语篇也都表达了对音乐的感受。在介绍基本情况和表达感受的语用要求下,三个语 篇都采用了过去分词作表语和状语这一形式,建构了语篇的意义,体现了课标所提倡 的“形式-意义-使用” 的三维动态语法观。 【Why】 语篇一体现了音乐带给 Henry 的强大力量和疗愈与慰藉;语篇二中展现了热爱音 乐的 Impact 乐队可以战胜一切质疑坚守内心;语篇三中通过 George 的话体现了他对 音乐的热情和音乐对他的鼓舞。三个语篇从音乐家和观众的两个视角展现了音乐的疗 愈功能,用心感受和体验音乐不仅能丰富生活,而且音乐的强大力量能让困境中的人 积极面对生活,寻找自我和个人价值。
2. 学情分析 【What they have known】 1. Students have learned and experienced different forms of music in previous lessons, so they are familiar with the theme and the topic; 2. Students have mastered past participles as the attribute and the object complement in Unit 4, so they already have a good command of the form of past participle. 【What they haven’t known】 1. Students aren’t clear with past participles as the predicative and the adverbial;
2. Students can’t figure out the functions of the structure; 3. Students find it hard to use the structure to express feelings and describe situations.
3. 教学目标 By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. to transform compound sentences into sentences with past participles as adverbial; 2. to conclude the functions of past participles by understanding the meaning of discourse; 3. to write experiences with music and describe their feelings; 4. to seek and express power and self-value of music.

Review and check the progress of the Campus Music Festival 1. Review what we have prepared for the music festival based on the Task List. 2. Show the tasks of this lesson, to know more musicians and share experiences with music. Watch and share feelings I. Play a video clip of a boy with autism(孤独症) listening to his favorite band and ask students“ What did he do ” and “How did the boy feel ” II. Ask students to share their feelings with music when in trouble. Possible answers like “feel encouraged” show past participles as predicative. To lead to the theme of this lesson and prepare for the production part.

II. Find common points of the three sentences. 1. They are all adverbial clauses. 2. The predicate verbs in clauses are be-verbs. 3. The subjects of the clauses are the same as those of main sentences. III. Transfer these sentences. 1. Instruct that when a compound sentence has the three common points, its clause can omit the be-v and the subject, even the conjunction if possible. 2. Take the first sentence for example. Brought up in a little farming town in Nevada, Whitacre dreamed to be a pop star. 3. Ask students to transfer the other 2 sentences. Because stunned/Stunned to find no relevant courses in university, he joined the choir. When moved/Moved by this music, he said, “It was like seeing color for the first time” . IV. Rewrite the following sentences and translate. (Workbook P86) 1. If I am given the opportunity to perform alone on video, I will enjoy the experience. 2.
