When I was elected president of student union, campus officials congratulated me saying I was quite adequate for the job. Before long, we had built a community of people who liked climbing the mountain near our campus. We started out with a small group of hikers, and then the number of participants increased.

Seeing her reading what was on the poster made me feel ashamed. I turned around and was ready to avoid her, afraid that she would look down upon me. But the next moment her call of my name entered my ears and I looked back. With a reassuring written on her face, Grace looked into my eyes, “Anyone can make mistakes. Please promise me to stay positive and never give up.” Her words, just like a beacon, instantly brightened up my gloomy world. Then and there, I decided to brave my wrongdoing and make every effort to win back their support and trust.
I went to the campus lawn, began to admit my mistakes in public and promised that I had learned my lesson. And changes could be easily seen in me. Not only did I apologize to them for my speaking down to them and being arrogant to them, I also became open to different opinions. I went to the female vice president, expressed my heartfelt apology to her and discussed the construction of the coffeehouse with her, on which we reached an agreement. More than that, I started to rejoin the hikers in climbing mountains, finding back the long-lost delight and friendship. With everything back on track, I found smiles creeping back on my face and felt really grateful to this enlightening experience, which helped me grow, ready to admit mistakes and embrace team efforts.
