2 To learn several prepositions of position:

Teaching Procedures:
Step1. Revision/ using pictures to present the new words about different kinds of rooms in a house.
T: (Greeting) what day is it today
Ss: Today is Tuesday.

Ss: We are having an English class.

Ss: We are in the classroom building, and we are on the third floor.
T: Now, look here. What’s this
Ss: It’s a living room.

Step2. Listen and match for 2a (P25) to practice new words.
And then ask, several questions about 2a.

Teaching Objectives:
1 To review the different kinds rooms in our house and their positions;
2 To review the sentence patterns of “There be..”;
3 To talk about the things(their places), and use the prepositions to describe them.
e.g., near, in front of, behind, under, on, in.
on the left/right, in the center of.
4 To talk about the position and existence.

Teaching Procedures:
Step1 Review jane’s house and the existance of things through using “There be…”&”Be there…”
T: What day is it (How to spell it )
Ss: It’s Wednesday.
T: What class are we having
Ss: We are having an English class.

Teaching aims:
Learn the pronunciation of “ir”,”oa”,”igh”,and “or”:/ :/,/ u /,/ ai /,/ :/.
Review the sentence pattern of “There is/are” and prepositions of position.
Review the words about home items.

Teaching procedures:
Step 1 Review
Let students sum up some nouns about home items and prepositions of position.
(1) house,room,watch,lamp,key,chair,TV,computer,clock,kitchen,bedroom,bathroom…
(2) in,on,under,near,behind,next to,in front of…
Have a sentence-making competition.Divide students into two groups.Encourage students to make more correct sentences in the giver time using “There is/are”,prepositions and prepositional phrases.Each right sentence will help the group win a little red flag.The group with more little red flags is the winner.
For example:
There is a garden in front of the house.
Ask students to sum up grammar focuses and useful expressions in this topic.Finish 4a and 4b.

Step 2 Presentation
Show the word cards”girl”,”bird”and”shirt”.Let students sum up the pronunciation rules of “ir” according to its pronunciation in these words.
Deal with “igh”,”oa”and”or”in the same way.
Let students listen to 1 and follow it.Pay attention to the pronunciation of “ir”,”igh”,”oa”and”or”.
Let students give more words that include”ir”,”igh”,”oa”or”or”and real them aloud.

Step 3 Consolidation
Play a game in groups.The teacher prepares word cards.Write down words with “ir”,”oa”,”igh”and”or”on each piece of card.One word for one card.Divide the class into 2 groups:Boys’ Group and Girls’ Group.The representative from each group will get a card from the teacher in turn.The rest of the group raise their hands to read the word out.Each group has only one chance for each card.If the Boys’ Group fails,the Girls’ Group will get one more chance.And vice versa.The teacher draws a smiling face for the group on the blackboard when the word is correctly read.The group with the most smiling faces wins the game.Finish 1.
