--- Making a poster about a writer
Analysis of the teaching material The theme of Unit 4 is centered on literature. This part, Project, is aimed to let the students use the language knowledge and cultural knowledge learned in this unit to internalize what they have learned by doing a specific project, and produce a language product to evaluate the learning results. After learning the class, students are expected to make a poster about a writer and have a distillation of emotion. That is, this class will start with the discussion of famous poets, then proceed to show the methods of making a poster by learning the example of Pearl S. Buck. Meanwhile, students will cooperate with group members and try to make a poster. Finally, students will be guided to evaluate and polish their posters.
Analysis of the Students Most of my students are from the countryside, so their English is limited. When teaching them, I have to take the improving of their skills into consideration. As for the topic of literature, they are interested but lack vocabularies and expressions. Meanwhile, for senior one students, they have difficulty in talking about the poster fluently.

Thinking quality To help students develop critical thinking and make proper analysis about evaluating other's posters and give suggestions. 4. Cultural awareness a. To help students set up right values and have a clear understanding of famous writers b. To shape students’ personality by carrying out moral education and self- reflection through analysis of teaching theories & learning strategies

Teaching procedures
Step 1:Lead in: The teacher shows some information about writers. Invite them to guess the name of the writers and ask students to try to find the common features among
guessing game them . Lead students to the theme of today’s class by using the question: If we want to make a poster of them ,how should we do 【Design Purpose】to stimulate the students’ interest and draw their attention at the very beginning of the lesson.
Step 2: Learn the sample: Pearl S. Buck The teacher shows the sample of Pearl S. Buck and asks students to discuss the following questions: 1. What kinds of information are provided 2. How is the information displayed How many layers are there 3. What do you think of the overall design 【 Design Purpose】students can summarize the basic elements of a poster by learning the sample of Pearl S. Buck. Thus, students can have a general impression on posters.
Step 3: Learn the poster design Teacher will introduce what makes a good poster. And list the key elements of a poster and some useful expressions by a chart. 【Design Purpose】students can be inspired by the given information and master the content and features of a poster. , which can pave the way for the later design by students themselves and can make it easier for students to do a poster.

Drawing and writing . Presenting the poster 2. Group members proofread the poster and make suggestions. Group members make some changes to the poster and finalize it. 【 Design Purpose】 students can improve their practical and creative abilities through the process of their designing the poster. Students can also learn to cooperate with each other by group work.
Step 5: Presentation and Assessment 1. Two members of each group come to the front. One shows the poster around the class and the other introduces the poster from the following aspects: . The role each member plays . The reason why you choose this writer . A brief account of the writer’s life, popular works, achievements and famous sayings. 2. The teacher reminds students to pay attention to their body language. Students can refer to tips on Page 55. . Speak clearly and confidently . Make eye contact with your audience . Talk at a proper speed and pause when it is necessary to give your audience
time to think about what you have said. . Keep your facial expressions relaxed and friendly. 3. Each group puts up the poster on the walls. 【 Design Purpose】To develop students’ ability to integrate learned language knowledge and express creatively.
Step 6: Evaluation 1. After each group presents their work, other groups evaluate the posters on the scores paper . Content (appealing, concise) . Layout (well-organized) . Pictures (clear, proper) . Language (accurate) 2. After each group presents their work, other groups evaluate their presentations . Language eye contact . Proper speed and pause facial expressions 【Design Purpose】To promote the implementation of core literacy of English subject. And to promote the building of students’ self-confidence.

Teaching reflection Based on the guidance of the New Curriculum Standard and the core literacy of the English subject,this period of class provides students with various activities to make a poster.Students are willing to participate in all of the teaching process.At the same time ,they learn to cooperate with each other and they are confident to speak in front of others. Finally ,they made a poster by themselves successfully ,which is meaningful for this class.Therefore,the teaching aims can
be able to be achieved . However,because of the weakness of students’ oral English,there is still a need for more practice time in the class to make better presentations.What’s more, the structure of their posters meets the requirements ,but the details need to be polished up.So,it relies on the students to spend more time after class to improve and present them to the following class.
