what Topic:Wildlife protection Thematic context: Man and nature The passage is about how a famous film named Jaws influenced people’s attitudes towards shark and how people changed their attitudes with time going by.And it explains people’s misunderstanding of sharks and raises awareness of shark protection.
how Genre:Exposition Words and expressions: scare, frightened, due to, target, come across, be covered with, rather than, the other way round, attitude,cut off, the number of, fortunately, protect...from, extinction etc. Writing techniques: giving a contrast, giving example, sequence of time.
why To show students what people had done with sharks because of ignorance and call on students to protect wild animals and think about how to live harmony with nature.
学情分析 When talking sharks, students are always feel frightened. However, they may not have a full understanding of sharks. Students have known the importance of wildlife protection,but most of them have no idea how to protect them. For the students who are in Grade 1 in high school are long for attention but they are not active enough to voluntarily raise hands to express themselves.
教学目标确定 Language competence: Lead the students get the main idea of this reading and master some words and expressions such as: due to, target, come across, be covered with, rather than, the other way round, attitude,cut off, the number of etc. and use them in writing. Cultural awareness: Guide students to know the importance of wildlife protection and what can we do to protect wildlife. Learning ability: Help students to have a good command of some writing skills related to exposition, such as: giving a contrast, giving example and sequence of time. Thinking ability: Lead the students to think why we should protect wild animals and how to live harmony with nature by critical thinking.
学习重难点 Key points: Understand there are some misunderstandings of sharks and people need to protect them from extinction. Difficult points: Use mind map to contrast people’s attitudes towards sharks in different time. Use some writing techniques to express their opinion of wildlife protection.

环节二:Read for basic information (8mins)
教师活动 Activity1. Skim the passage and answer the questions. Q1. Which film was mentioned in the passage Q2. How sharks are described in the film Activity2. Matching game 学生活动 Skim the passage to find out the answers. Match the main idea of each paragraph.
设计意图 To practice the reading strategies like skimming and finding out the keywords.
环节三:Read for details (15mins)

To criticize Peter Benchley's misleading description of sharks in his book and advocate the protection of sharks. 2. Design teaching procedures from the shallower to the deeper. 2.Base on core competences and combine the teaching,learning and evaluation. 3.Develop ss’ logical thinking and critical thinking. Improvement I should leave more time for discussion and give more chances for ss to express themselves.
