Activity 1 Lead in Students watch some pictures about Vicky’s holiday journey, and ask questions about her journey. T: I had a wonderful journey last holiday. What questions do you want to ask about my journey [ Learning assessment]: Observe students' performance in asking questions and learn about whether they can use wh-questions to ask about one’s journey Activity 2 Talk about the students’ holidays Ask some questions about students’holidays. T: Do you like going on holiday Where did you go last holiday Now please ask more about your holiday with your partner. Ask students to ask and answer about their holidays. [ Learning assessment]: Observe students questions and answers to judge their comprehensive and accurate degree of asking and answering the questions about holiday journey. Activity 3 Talk about Betty’s holiday Students review Betty’s holiday in LA, and work in pairs to ask and answer about her holiday. T: Do you still remember where did Betty go two years ago Now let’s work in pairs to ask about her journey. Students retell Betty’s holiday journey. T: You’ve already known a lot about Betty’s journey. Now it’s your time to retell her holiday journey. [ Learning assessment]: Observe whether students can use what they have learned before to talk about one’s journey clearly and fluently. Activity 4 Complete Betty’s holiday in Paris Students watch a postcard from Betty in Paris and guess what the post card is about. T: This Year, Betty goes to Paris. Here is a postcard from her to her mum. Try to guess what the postcard is about. Students read the postcard and complete it with the correct form of the words from the box. [ Learning assessment]:Evaluate students’ ability to infer the content of the postcard under situational clues, based on students’ guess. Observe if students can use relevant language expressions correctly. Activity 5 Share six things you did on your last holiday. Students write six things they did on last holiday and share with others. T: Betty did a lot of things on her holiday. She also wants to know things you did on your holiday. Please write six things you did on your last holiday. [Learning assessment]: Observe the things students write down and evaluate how well students learn about simple past tense and key language expressions. Activity 6 Group work: talk about your favourite holiday journey Ask students to work in four to talk about favourite holiday journey. Offer them the structure of the conversation and the checklist. Student A shares his/her holiday journey and Students B/C/D ask questions about the journey and take notes. Finally Students B/C/D introduce the journey. [Learning assessment]: Observe if students’ presentation is accurate and comprehensive after critical thinking, if the language expression is correct, and see if students can internalize the content and language. Evaluate students' abilities to understand,apply and create. Give proper instructions and feedback when necessary. Homework You must do: Make a servery on favourite holiday journey in your group and take notes. You choose to do: Write a report about favourite journey in your group.
