Physicist and Nobel Prize winner Richard Feynman developed a clever learning method known as the Feynman Technique. It involves explaining what you're learning to others. By teaching what you've learned from memory, you engage in active recall. 36 It also ensures that you understand the topic, because you can only explain an idea if you truly understand it. The technique consists of four repeatable steps.
To begin, choose a concept or topic you wish to fully understand. 37 The more interested you are, the faster you'll grasp it. Moreover, a personally interesting topic will keep you motivated and engaged.
38 Write notes and explain it in a way that makes sense to a five-year-old. If you'd rather avoid actually teaching someone, you can just teach it to an imaginary audience. But it works much better if you use a real person. They'll be able to let you know when something isn't clear.
While teaching, you may discover gaps in your understanding. 39 Review your notes, reread books, or seek external help to ensure you have a complete understanding of the context before moving forward.
Now that you fully grasp the concept, test your understanding by trying to teach it to another person. This will help you identify any remaining areas of uncertainty you need to revisit.
The Feynman Technique is a great way for kids and grown-ups to learn. 40 You need to actively think about the problem instead of passively reading or listening to someone else. However, with great efforts in mastering this method, you'll see your learning results improve quicker than ever before.
A. It is mentally demanding.
B. This helps the information stick in your mind better.
C. Teach it to a five-year-old, who would give you direct feedback.
D. Your curiosity about it will determine the pace of your learning.
E. Once you have chosen a topic, you can teach it to someone else.
F. Active engagement plays a key role in promoting deeper learning.
G. When this happens, refer back to the original material for the missing pieces.
Step 5:Exercise and homework
(23年高考II卷)As an artist who shares her journey on social media, I’m often asked by curious followers how to begin an art journey. Unfortunately, there is no magic list I can offer. I do remember, though, what it was like to be a complete beginner. So I’ve put together some good tips for starting an art journey.
·Start small. I suggest using a sketchbook (素描本) for small studies. These small studies provide inspiration and may be a springboard for more complex works in the future. ___1___ You’ll want to look back on your journey to see how far you’ve come.
·Paint often and paint from life. There’s no better way to improve than to put in those brush miles. Whether you paint still lives, portraits, or landscapes, paint from life as much as possible. ___2___
·Continually challenge yourself to try something new. ___3___ Artistic growth can be a bit painful. Welcome to the club;we’ve all been there. I love taking on challenges. I once took up a challenge to create a painting every day for a month and post the works online.
·___4___ . Seeking and accepting constructive feedback (反馈) is crucial to growth. I post my work on social media and, in turn, have met some of the kindest people. They make me feel valued and respected, no matter my level of artistic ability.
The journey you’re on won’t follow a straight path. ___5___ Push through, give it time and put in the effort. You will harvest the rewards of an artistic life.
A. Get out of your comfort zone.
B. Make career plans and set goals.

2.(南京市、盐城市2024届高三年级第一次模拟考试) Once a year in a small mountain village, the Mande people gather to hear the folk stories of their traditions. The man playing an instrument called Sosso-Bala while singing is the storyteller. He holds all the folk knowledge of the Mande people.
Most of us don't have a musical instrument that ties us together, but we have someone in our lives who's the keeper of our folk knowledge. Often it's a grandmother, who keeps all our stories of wisdom ready to tell upon request. 36 What's the best way to get a baby to sleep Where do I come from What's my moral compass The stories provide an answer, and it's useful to speak with someone who knows how things are done.
37 Researchers have documented folk knowledge in other species-whales returning to parts of the sea that they'd abandoned a generation before; monkeys that communicate hunting skills to their offspring (后代). Folk knowledge is not only culture, it's also survival. 38
Traditionally, we share it in small units--families sharing around a dinner table. 39 Look at any social media, and you'll see folk knowledge at work and at play. It's exploded as we're trained to look for information online, rather than from within. In this case, chances are that our questions can be answered with misinformation.
But we don't gather once a year to really check our "folk stories" as the Mande people do; nor do we center our folk traditions around a musical instrument. The internet has no reality except its own and, left unchecked, its wisdom has no rhythm (节奏). 40
A. It's just chaos.
B. This is why we do it.
C. Human wisdom has been passed down through generations.
D. The stories can be useful for dealing with all sorts of doubts.
E. Nowadays, folk knowledge has expanded to digital networks.
F. Now the internet has made valuable folk wisdom at your fingertips.
G. Recently, we discovered that this very human practice isn't limited to humans.

3.(河北省2024届高三下学期3月高考模拟考试)You may have heard of the "fight or flight" response—an evolutionary system that allows us to enter a survival state in the presence of physical or psychological threats.
Your fight-or-flight mode is activated by the sympathetic nervous system. It's meant to force you into action in order to temporarily protect or prepare yourself for something bad. 36 . Exposure to stressful situations may be perceived by your brain and body as intense and repetitive, locking you into a fight-or-flight state that may continue to exist for days, months or even years. We asked experts about signs that your mind and body have not returned to their normal, resting state.
37
When stress is long-lasting, the body's response system becomes overwhelmed, causing a collapse that may leave you unfeeling to everything. This emotional situation can make you feel like you're on autopilot or disconnected from yourself and others. You might not be able to respond to emotions, which can lead to forgetfulness, difficulty of focusing, tiredness, hopelessness and self-destructive behaviors.
You're always tired, but can't rest
38 . It keeps the mind and body alert and in survival mode to protect themselves. Sleep disturbances and muscle tension can be caused by biological changes. Other sleep problems can include nightmares, early waking, restless sleep and difficulty of falling asleep. Long-lasting exposure to cortisol, the stress hormone in the body, can put us in a constant state of awareness to our surroundings.
How to calm your fight-or-flight response
Eliminating long-lasting stress can be difficult. 39 . Physical ways to ensure you're taking care of yourself include exercising, eating regularly and getting enough sleep. 40 . Most of all, it's important to recognize when you need help, which can mean getting support from available resources.
A. You're emotionally unfeeling
B. But sometimes, that can go out of control
C. A common symptom of nonstop stress is overalertness
D. Making time to process your emotions is important in coping
E. Some stress can be healthy, contributing to cognitive benefits
F. The truth is that your fight-or-flight response can kick in anytime
G. Positive social support can also help with stress and protect you against harm
