When Jordan Romero was nine, he saw a painting of the tallest mountains in the world. Jordan set a goal to climb each one, but he had a problem that he was not able to make it by himself. Jordan knew what would solve his problem: a team to climb with him. His father and stepmother, experienced mountain climbers, became his teammates.
Before climbing, the team followed an exercise plan. They ran long distances while wearing heavy backpacks and pulling tires. After years of hard work, they developed strong bodies for the tough climb and formed strong relationships to help them work together.
Jordan’s team was ready for the dangers of exploration. Mt. Everest is the world’s tallest mountain. The top of Mt. Everest is higher than some planes fly! At the top there isn’t much oxygen(氧气)to take in, which is a problem for climbers. Not having enough oxygen could make them sick, so the team worked out the problem by wearing oxygen masks.
Jordan’s team needed more help, so climbing experts called Sherpas(夏尔巴人)joined them. Each expert used his special skill to help them climb the mountain.
It took the team 51 days to get to the summit(顶峰). While the team members were climbing the mountain, a rope linked them together to stay safe. Finally, they reached the summit. Jordan and his teammates shouted and cheered for themselves excitedly. It was teamwork(团队合作)that helped them reach the tallest point in the world!
