My Understanding of Failure
As J.Burroughs put it, “A man can fail many times, but he isn't a failure until he begins to blame somebody else.” From my perspective, this quote suggests that we should engage in self-examination after experiencing a defeat and take corresponding measures instead of blaming others.
When learning English, many of us may face the embarrassment of putting in efforts but preforming poorly in exam. I was no exception. However, instead of blaming my teacher ridiculously, I analyzed my English-learning condition and adjusted my learning method. For grammar, I compiled typical mistakes, reviewed basic concepts in time and actively worked through them.
Regarding memory intensive aspects such as vocabulary and writing. I practiced regularly to keep my mind clear and sharp, which proved beneficial for recitation. Eventually, my efforts paid off.
In a nutshell, blaming others won't relieve you from failure, but self-examination will. Hard work coupled with a positive mindset, will lead to great success.
