教学内容
教学重点: 1. To get some polite expressions in the Western countries and China. 2. To consolidate the use of sense verbs and adjectives to describe people and things. 3. To use sense verbs and adjectives to write a passage about a classmate.
教学难点: 1. Students can use adjectives and sense verbs to describe people and things.
2. Students can catch their classmates’ main features and use sense verbs and adjectives to write a passage about a classmate.
教学过程
Lead-in When other people help you, you will say “thank you”. People will think you are polite. And saying “thank you” is a polite expression. “Thank you” is widely used all over the world. Let’s read Around the world to get some “polite expressions” in the West and what people think of them. Step1.Reading A. Opinions on polite expressions Polite expressionsGive others feelings and impressions (给他人留下印象)Hug each otherOpenUse given namesFriendly and informal(非正式的,随意的)Say “thank you”polite
Let’s think:1:Do we Chinese also have these polite expressions 2:Do we also give others such kind of feelings We Chinese are also polite. We also say “thank you”very often, and we are friendly and informal ,we usually use given names at work as well,but we are not as open as the Westerns, we do not hug others when we meet others, we usually shake hands. B. Get more polite expressions and people’s feelings Let’s do activity6 on P8, and get more polite expressions and people’s feelings in America . 1: choose words to complete the passage. 2: How does Americans show polite expressions 1. Americans usually shake hands with each other when they first meet. 2. When two Americans are talking,they do not stand too close to each other. 3. If they meet some friends at a party while they are talking with someone else, they usually bring their friends into the conversation. 4.Americans look each other in the eye when they talk. 3: What feelings and impressions do Americans give others Noisy but friendly. 4: Conclusion: we can use adjectives to describe our feelings and impressions. Such as:noisy but friendly, polite, open, friendly and informal,... 设计意图:通过阅读Around the world、选词填空2个活动提取表达对西方人活动感受和印象的形容词。在阅读的基础上,感受东西方文化的差异。同时能学会用恰当的表达方式陈述事实,表达感受。为最后的模块任务储备内容。
Step2: Listening & speaking Activity1: Listening We can also use adjectives to describe things .Let’s listen and get important descriptions.(Activity9) Tip: get important descriptions 获取描述性的词 The music: terrible, too loud, sounds like noise(noisy), not music The room: too hot for dancing The food: has too much salt(salty) The drink: too cold The people: not very friendly (unfriendly) The speaker is complaining about the music, the room, the food, the drink, and the people. Let’s make these information into sentences. The music sounds terrible and noisy. The room feels too hot. The food tastes salty. The drink tastes too cold. The people feel unfriendly. From these sentences, do you know how to talk about our feelings Yes,we find sense verbs and adjectives can be used to talk about feelings and impressions. sound 听起来 feel 感觉起来 taste 品尝起来 ... Let’s do a summary: sense verbs (感官动词)+adjectives形容词 描述主语的状态、性质、特征等, 表达说话者的感受。 Activity2: Speaking A: Describe things(self-work) Use sense verbs and more adjectives to describe more things. Let’s do activity7. e.g. These shoes feel comfortable. She looks very nervous. The music sounds very noisy. The soup smells great, it tastes delicious. These flowers look beautiful, they smell nice. Her hands feel hot. He looks quite strong. His voice sounds nervous. The air smells so fresh. The cake smells great, it tastes nice and sweet. Hobbies(like (doing) sth,enjoy (doing) sth.,be fond of (doing) sth,be good at (doing) sth,... personality: friendly,open,informal,polite,noisy,lovely,nice, proud,quiet,shy,strict,outgoing,warm-hearted, creative,smart,easy-going,hard-working,careless, active,modest,stubborn,trusting,energetic, humorous,confident,gentle,independent,... e.g. My friend is fourteen years old. He is of medium-height and looks strong.His skin is dark but looks healthy.He likes playing basketball very much, and he plays in the school team. He’s friendly to his friends.If he meets some friends while he’s talking with someone else,he usually brings his friends into the conversation. He’s also quite open and informal.He hugs his basketball teammates when they are ready to play games. But he’s a little bit shy when he meet strangers.
