How to Make a Good First Impression If you want to leave a deep impression, here are some tips for you. First of all, keep yourself clean and tidy. Appearance, including how you dress, can help convey information about who you are to others. If you are dressed correctly for the moment, it may help people form a good impression of you. This doesn’t mean that you can’t express yourself through your appearance, but it is important. Choose clothing that looks neat helps you feel comfortable and confident when meeting new people. And people will also feel you are clean and tidy. Secondly, consider your words. When speaking to others, focus on using languages that is polite, respectful, and always show warmth. Knowing how to make small talk can be helpful. Some topics sounds good, such as the weather, hobbies, sports, travel, and food can be great icebreakers. Just be sure to avoid critical (有争议的)opinions. Thirdly, show interest in others. When you are speaking to someone new, be active listening(积极倾听). Be interested in what they have to say and make sure that you are listening to their responses. Focus on the other person is also a great way if you are feeling anxious about meeting new people. By this way, you are less likely to focus on your own nervousness. Fourthly, show you are polite by smiling at others or looking at others' eyes when talking with others instead of looking away from him or her, which shows you don't respect the person you are talking with. don't interrupt others when they are talking. Last but not least, if you are very optimistic (乐观的) and self-confident(自信的) in your life, you will certainly be welcomed by the people around you. (Reading tip: this passage includes many adjectives and some sense verbs, you can circle them out when reading.)
