I have always loved music. When I was a teenager, I dreamed of becoming a rock star. Sadly, my effort didn't match my love, and soon the guitar my mother bought for me lay quietly in the corner. I hated pressing my fingers down on the hard strings. At one time, my guitar teacher shook his head and said I had the rhythm(韵律) of a duck.
Before 2020, I had always believed that I was unable to learn a musical instrument. Then came the COVID-19, I had to stay in a hotel in Chiang Mai in Thailand with my friend's guitar. Being locked in the hotel, I had nothing to do but pick up the guitar. I focused on how to play five of my favorite songs on the guitar. I started slowly, learning how to play by following online classes. I have to agree that counting time(节拍) was very difficult for me, so I gave it up. I just listened to the songs, focused on their rhythms and tried my best to follow them.
Day by day, I started to sound less and less terrible. I practiced the five songs every morning until I found my own rhythm and developed my own style of the songs, even after the the COVID-19 was over. Finally, on May 28, 2022, I gave a guitar performance to some strangers and friends. I was so nervous that I forgot to turn the microphone on at the beginning. But when I hit the first chord(和弦), my music was greeted with loud cheers. It was my best memory of 2022.
In short, my word of this past year or the past three years is ______.Time passes by quickly. Another new year has now arrived. 37. Why did the writer start to play the guitar again
A. Being locked in the hotel, he had nothing to do.
B. Because he loved playing the guitar so much.
C. His mom made him start again.
D. Playing the guitar became easier for him.
38. How did the writer make it possible to give a performance
A. By being encouraged by his family.
B. By focusing on playing his favorite songs.
C. By learning from others.
D. By turning on the microphone.
39.What can be the best word in the blank in the last paragraph
A. Practice. B. Learning. C. Success. D. Focus.
40. How do you feel after reading the story

Students at Bullock Creek High School in Midland, Michigan found an unusual way to raise money for their robotics team.
Every year, 28 students on the Blitz Creek team take part in a national robotics competition, where students are challenged to create a robot that can perform certain tasks. They design robots, and write the programs that run them.
But building robots isn’t cheap. Maxton Herst joined the team in the ninth grade, and later he became the captain of the robotics team. By accident, Maxton Herst saw a video about a toilet paper pyramid. Maxton realized that it was possible to build a record-setting pyramid, and then sell the toilet paper to get money for their program. All the team members agreed to try his idea.
Blitz Creek has been planning the pyramid since last May. One challenge was calculating (计算) how many rolls of paper were needed. The answer turned out to be 27,434.
In late December, team members gave up part of their winter holiday to build the pyramid. The pyramid was so big that they had to build it from the inside before backing out and filling in the areas where they had been standing. It took about 16 hours, with many people working, which is about 61 centimeters taller than the current (当前的) Guinness World Record.
The pyramid opened for viewing on January 4, 2020. Sadly, because the pyramid was in the school’s front hall, it could only stay for three days. With all the excitement caused by the pyramid, it turned out to be fairly easy to sell the toilet paper. Many supporters did help. Families and teachers bought half of the paper. A large company bought the rest. The team made about $10,000 from the event, which will help pay for its activities.
Maxton talks about the success of his crazy idea. “If you’ve got an idea, and you know that this idea is good, push it,” he says. “Don’t stop.”
