教学过程
Step 1 Lead-in. Activity 1 Get ready for class. T: Before the class, please get these things ready: the textbook, the worksheet, a notebook and some colour pens. Are you ready for the class 【Intention】This activity lets students get well prepared for the class, and get full use of the online lesson. Activity 2 Read the poster. T: Read the poster on our school board. It says the topic of this week’s English club is hobbies! Come and find friends that share your interests! In this lesson, we’re going to learn how to introduce our hobbies to others. 【Intention】The poster is designed to put students in a real-life context, so they may feel more eager to learn and practice. Activity 3 Brainstorm. Finish the mindmap. T: Speaking of hobbies, do you still remember which hobby Lingling, Betty and Tony have in common Great! They all love collecting things. They share their interests. Maybe that’s one of the reason why they become good friends. Besides collecting things, what other hobbies do you know Please finish the mindmap on your worksheet. 【Intention】The brainstorm part is not only designed for revision, but also aims to let student know the learning strategy—use the mindmap to sort out the basics of a module. Step 2 Listening. Activity 4 Listen and complete the diagram. Collecting stamps helps people ______________________. Playing Chess _________________________. ______________________ helps the whole family. T: Among all the kinds of hobbies, can you guess which kinds of hobbies girls and boys like What do girls and boys both like Now let’s listen to a conversation carefully and complete the diagram. Listen again and answer the questions. Possible answers: singing, dancing; playing table tennis; playing football, watching football; Because you can learn about new things and develop new skills; learn about countries; develops thinking skills; Growing vegetables 【Intention】The listening activity is able to let students improve their listening skills—predicting and taking quick notes. Meanwhile, they get to know that good hobbies can bring us lots of advantages. Step 3 Grammar. Activity 5 Read and mark. Use different colours to mark the subject, the verb form and the object or complement of each sentence. If you don’t have colours, you can underline the subject and circle the verb form. David Smith is a student. There was a writing class. David wrote a story about the life of a sixteen-year-old boy. It came out as a book in 2012. His hobby has brought him pleasure and success. Hobbies can make you grow as a person.
T: What about David’s hobby Before the class, you have previewed the structures of the simple sentences. Let’s read these sentences about David’s hobby and use different colours to mark the subject, the verb form and the object or complement of each sentence on your worksheet. 【Intention】In this activity, students can review the sentences about David’s hobby in Unit 2. Imitate the sentences and write about your hobby. T: As you have known the basic structures of simple sentences, please look at Activity three on your worksheet. Imitate the sentences on the left, and write about your own hobby. Read your sentences aloud and check it by yourself. 【Intention】In the previous activity, students can tell the structures and elements of simple sentences. Find the best part(s) of Amy’s hobby. 2. Check her writing(sentences in red) with the structures of simple sentences. T: My student Amy wants to share her hobby with you. Now read her passage and finish the tasks: 1. find the best part of her hobby. 2. check her writing with the structures of simple sentences. 【Intention】This is an integrated exercise of grammar and reading, which leads to the output of this lesson—writing. This passage is a good example for students to write about their own hobby. Step 5 Writing. Activity 9 Write and share. T: Now suppose you are in the English Club. T: Now it’s your turn to share your hobby with us. Please follow the three steps. After finishing the task, please check by yourself: How many stars can you get 【Intention】This task is based on the context throughout the class. The final task for students is to share their hobby with others and find friends that share their interests.
