教学内容
教学重点: 1.improve students’ reading skills of predicting, skimming and scanning
2.learn how to realize dreams 教学难点: 1.work in groups to make a program to talk about their dream jobs 2.help them be more confident to realize their dreams
教学过程
Activity 1. Read the message and know the project. I will show the message from the foreign teacher James in our school and lead students to find out what he wants me to help with. It can arouse students interest in this lesson. Activity 2. Predict. I will lead the students to read the title and look at the picture to know some information to help them to predict. When talking about the picture, I will lead students to learn the new word “studio”. I will also lead students to think about the man’s feeling and then lead them to learn the new expression “It seemed that he is happy. ” Then I will show the sentence “I think that I’m going to read about ________.”,which is also the key sentence pattern of the module, to help students to predict. I will also emphasis the reading skill of predicting according to pictures and the title. Activity 3. Read fast and choose the right answers. The two questions can help students know better about the main idea of the passage. I will remind students to read the key words fast to get the main idea. When analyzing the answers to the first question, I will analyze the structure of the article and then lead in “internal flashback”. I will ask students why the writer writes the article in this structure to help them know it can make readers more interested in it. Activity 4. Read about the job interview carefully and finish the job interview evaluation form. Activity 5. Read the middle part carefully and finish the chart. I design the chart to help students know how the writer achieved his dream. Activity 6. Think. I will lead students to think about why the writer could get his dream job. I will lead them to conclude the secret of realizing dreams with the vivid picture and emphasis “Chances are for those who are prepared.” Activity 7. Complete the passage with the correct form of the words and expressions in the box. This activity can help students remember what they have learned from the article and learn to use the new words and expressions. Activity 8. Do a mini-role play. This activity will help students remember more details and practise their spoken English, which can pave the way for them to finish the last activity. Activity 9. Make a radio program about dream jobs in groups. The students are supposed to make a radio program for our school English radio in groups of 4. The topic of the program is about dream jobs. The following checklist and the model of the conversation can help them make the program better. Homework Must-do Polish your radio program and record it as a video.
