1. reading a newspaper (教材P31 1a)
newspaper可数名词，意为“报纸”。in the newspaper强调在报纸上（有什么内容）;on the newspaper强调（某物压）在报纸上
new（新的）→news(新闻)+paper（纸）=newspaper（报纸）
eg：Your photo is in the newspaper. 你的照片上报了。
I like reading newspapers after breakfast. 我喜欢在早饭后看报纸。
There is a cup of coffee on the newspaper. 有一杯咖啡压在报纸上。

on the phone意为“通过电话”，其中on为介词，意为“通过；以……的方式”。on TV在电视上；on the radio在收音机里。
eg：Susan is talking with Jenny on the phone. 苏珊正在和珍妮通电话。
Laura is listening to the news on the radio. 劳拉正在收听广播新闻。

use动词，意为“使用”。use sth. to do sth.意为“用某物做某事” useful形容词，意为“有用的”。
4. making soup (教材P31 1a)
soup n. “汤”
Point
eg：My mother likes making soup. 我妈妈喜欢做汤。
Do you like having soup 你喜欢喝汤吗？
soup此处为不可数名词，意为“汤”；make soup意为“做汤”。
5. go to the movies (教材P31 1a)
go to the movies去看电影
Point
go to the movies意为“去看电影”。其中movie是名词，意为“电影”，与film同义。表示“去看电影”，英国英语用go to the cinema/see a film，而美国英语则用go to the movies。
eg：He goes to the movies once a month. 他每月去看一次电影。
1. go不及物动词，意为“去，前往”，当其后接活动性名词时，表示“去做某事”。
eg：go to the meeting 去开会 go to the talk去听报告
go to the party去参加聚会 go to the match 去看比赛
2. go后常加动词的-ing形式，表示“去进行某一活动”，一般表示休闲或是娱乐性的活动。
