I was on the train one afternoon. Our carriage was almost empty, just a few people. At one station, a drunk man suddenly entered the train. He shouted and swung his fists(拳头)at a woman holding a baby. Luckily the baby wasn’t hurt. Then he tried to kick an old woman. Everyone was scared.
I’d been learning aikido (合气道,功夫的一种) for the past three years. But I’d never fought in real life. As students of aikido, we are not allowed to start a fight. “Aikido,” my teacher always told us, “is about solving conflict, not starting it.”
I decided that this was my moment. If I didn’t do something fast, somebody might get hurt. So I stood up, ready to fight.
Just then, someone shouted, “Hey!” It was an old man. He was smiling at the drunk man. “What have you been drinking ” he asked.
“I’ve been drinking wine , but it’s none of your business!” said the drunk man angrily. “Oh, that’s wonderful,” said the old man. Then he told how he loved drinking wine with his wife and eating watermelon.
“I also love watermelon,” said the drunk man.
“And I’m sure you have a wonderful wife, too,” said the old man.
“No,” replied the drunk man. “My wife died,” Then he began to sob (啜泣), “I have no wife, no home, no job. I’m so ashamed of myself.”
“Oh, that is so difficult. Sit down here and tell me about it,” said the old man.
As I got off the train, I realized I’d just seen real aikido in action. This was the spirit of how to solve conflict.
24.What happened on the train
A.A man was drinking wine. B.A drunk man was acting wildly.
C.A baby was hurt by a man’s fists. D.An old woman was knocked down.
25.What can we learn from the aikido teacher’s words
A.Students shouldn’t learn aikido. B.Aikido is not used to start fights.
C.Aikido can’t actually solve conflicts. D.Using aikido may start conflicts.
26.What was the drunk man’s situation in life
A.His business went broke. B.He had a wonderful wife.
C.He was living a great life. D.He had no place to live.
27.What does the writer mean in the last paragraph
A.There are real and fake (假的) forms of aikido.
B.The real spirit of aikido is to start conflict.
C.Fighting is not the only way to solve conflicts.
D.Everyone should learn aikido to protect themselves.

Finally, in March of 1703, the Adventure set sail for India. The winds were good until we got near Madagascar, an island off the east coast of Africa. Then a strong wind began to blow. We were trapped in the wind for twenty days. After many hours, the wind finally stopped and the sea became quieter. The storm had blown the Adventure hundreds of kilometers to the east.
“Where are we ” I asked the captain.
“I can’t tell for sure.” He said, “we are running out of water. We must reach land soon to fill our water barrels(桶).” Many days passed and we saw nothing but the sea. One morning, before everyone died of thirst, a sailor cried out, “Land!” Everyone on the ship was silent for a second. And quickly the ship sailed closer to the land. The sailors suddenly became turnultuous and all cheered.
“You men,” said the captain to the sailors, “take the rowboats and go. Fill the water barrels with fresh water.”
“Captain,” I said, “may I go with them to take a look at this place ”
“Of course,” he replied. “You can tell me later what it is like.”
When the rowboats reached the coast, one of the sailors said, “we will have to walk along the coast to look for fresh water.”
“I’m going to take a little walk,” I told them. “I will meet you back here in an hour.”
I walked about a kilometer, enjoying being on land again. Then I turned and walked back to meet the sailors.
When I arrived on the beach, the sailors were not there. They were in the rowboats, rowing as fast as they could toward the Adventure. I was going to shout out to them when I saw a very huge man walking through the sea. I was trying to catch up with the rowboats. The sailors were almost at the ship, and I could see that the huge man would not be able to catch them. Instead, it was coming towards me. Great fear went through my mind.
28.What happened when they got near the east coast of Africa
A.They decided to set sail for India.

You wouldn’t steal a car. You would never rob a bank or pick someone’s pocket. But you may be another kind of thief.
If you have ever bought a disc for 15 yuan or less, then you have helped to rob artists or musicians of their intellectual properly rights (知识产权).
Last Thursday was World Intellectual Property Day. Activities to tell people about intellectual property rights were held around the country.
Intellectual property includes inventions, literary (文学的) and artistic works, names, and pictures. They are of little value if they are not read, seen and used.
While the cost of copying discs is very small, authors, singers and actors have to spend a lot of money and time making a new product. That’s why they have the right to make money from their work.
So buying pirated (盗版的) music of Jay Chou and Jolin Tsai is like stealing from them, paying them no respect for their hard work.
If Jay Chou cannot make money from his work, he may not make anything else. But those who make pirated goods are becoming rich without doing any hard work.
The authors should ask for a fair price for their work. Earlier this year there was much talk about how much KTV clubs should pay the music companies for using their songs.
The copyright fee also should be fair to the users. That’s good for the music’s popularity and society as well.
32.What is the author’s attitude towards protecting intellectual property rights
A.He is for it. B.He is against it.
C.He doesn’t care about it. D.The article doesn’t tell us.
33.Which of the following do intellectual property rights not cover
A.Inventions. B.Literary and artistic works.
C.Names and pictures. D.Pirated music.
34.According to the article, which of the following is true
A.Authors should ask for a high price for their work.
B.The copyright fee should be fair to users.
C.Authors, singers and actors have no right to make money from their work.
D.Buying pirated music by Jay Chou is very good.
35.What is the best title for the article
A.Rob a Bank B.Copyright Fees
C.Say No to pirated Music D.World Intellectual Property Day

My family and I were taking a well-deserved vacation to Disneyland. I had never been there before and was eagerly anticipating (期待)experiencing the magic.
There was another reason that this trip was special. My father was a workaholic who worked long hours. I longed to spend time with him. I wanted to be able to sit down with my father, who I loved more than life, and just talk. It always seemed like there was never time.
The day finally arrived when I was allowed to pack my clothes. I chose only my favourite outfits. I threw in my autograph book and then muscled the suitcase zipper around the overflow of clothes. I set my suitcase on my comforter and smiled. I was ready.
I didn’t get any sleep that night. I lay in my bed and stared out the window. I knew that my father’s work was going to be left at home, finally.
After a brief breakfast we hit the open road. It was all smooth sailing for the first couple of hours until I unexpectedly felt a sharp stop. We coasted to the side of the road, and my dad said something was wrong with the engine. We were in the middle of four lanes of traffic, so he decided the easiest thing to do would be to signal someone to stop and get a ride into town.
An hour later, my dad was still waving his hands at each and every passing car but it wasn’t doing any good. Not a single person would stop to assist my helpless family. Finally, Father gave up and decided to walk into town. I was certain it was a very long distance. I pleaded with him to stay and try again, but he was deaf to my pleading. He just said that he wouldn’t let anything ruin this trip for me. My heart ached as he put on his coat and began to walk away from our car. My dad has a back problem, and he was too stubborn to admit that he wasn’t in any condition to even walk a couple of miles.

第一节参考范文:
Good morning, boys and girls! It’s my great privilege to deliver my speech whose topic is “Reading has the power to transform our life.”
Reading enhances our mental growth and enables us to keep up with the ever-changing world. More importantly, it helps us gain a deeper understanding of the world.
Personally, I enjoy reading novels. I encourage anyone who has little interest in reading to start with the life stories of scientists, which can provide insights into their struggles and achievements, allowing you to learn how to handle difficult situations. In conclusion, reading is not just a hobby, but a means to a better life. So, let's make reading a regular part of our life.
That’s all. Thank you for your listening.
第二节读后续写参考范文:
Paragraph 1: Then I saw a man out of the window, who was a truck driver. I looked around and found that his truck was parked on the other side of the road. He offered to take us to the town. The feeling I felt at that moment was beyond words. “Thank you! It’s so kind of you to help us. Nobody else had taken time out of his or her own selfish life to stop,” said my dad. “It’s nothing. Everyone can meet some unexpected difficulties,” replied the man
Paragraph 2: After reaching the town, we expressed our thanks again. “You are such a great help. Thank you very much. Please take the money,” my dad took out 20 dollars. “No! Just forget about it. Virtue is its own reward, isn’t it ” said the man warmly. I was truly touched by what he had done and said. He didn’t even know us, and he didn’t expect anything in return. It was at that time that I realized we make a living by what we get but we make a life by what we give.
