It_seemed_as_if_Robert_would_be_dying. Just at the moment,Henry happened to be passing by.Hearing the screams,Henry ran to the riverside, threw off his clothes and jumped into the water without hesitation. He reached Robert just as he was sinking the last time.By great effort, and with much danger to himself,he brought Robert to the shore.
Thus,Robert's_life_was_saved. Robert and his new friends were ashamed at having called Henry a coward. They realized that Henry had true courage. They said sorry to Henry for their rude behavior and asked for his forgiveness.Henry forgave them happily. He and Robert were friends again and they went home together as usual. From this,Robert learned what true courage was:never be afraid to do good, but always fear to do evil.

Text10:
W: Good afternoon and welcome to Seattle Houseboat Tours. My name’s Elizabeth Jones and I’m your guide today. This is my houseboat Moonlight. Before we go on board, I’d like to give you a little background information. Seattle has one of the largest numbers of houseboats in the US—about 500 of them in fact. That’s quite a high number and shows how popular houseboat living is here. We’re at the southern end of Lake Union right now. As you have probably seen already, this is a lively area with restaurants and shops and cafes. During our one-hour tour, you’ll see a number of houseboats. People can pay millions of dollars for the biggest of these. Some of them are quite amazing and have two or three floors. My own is one of the smallest boats, but I still have plenty of room, as you’ll see when I show you around. My living area includes one bedroom with a bathroom, a kitchen and a living room. I also have electricity, running water and network, so I really do have everything I need. You may be interested to know that I’m writing a book on the history of houseboats in the city, and this should be on sale from early July. Well, thank you for listening so far. Now let’s move into the boat and start the tour.

I was checking out at the supermarket counter on Wednesday night, ready to pay for my bananas, when all of a sudden, fear came upon me.My wallet was gone. And I could only have left it one place: the G9 bus, from which I had gotten off minutes earlier and which was now speeding to some stops. The moment of realizing it was gone was followed by mental math. How much time and money would it cost to replace the credit cards, the driver's license, the expensive lipstick($55!).
Two hours after I was back at my house,I heard a knock on the door.My husband answered while I sat in the dining room on the phone with a credit card company.“Does Jennifer live here?” I heard someone say.In her hand was my wallet, without a penny missing. She left before I could offer my gratitude to her.
After I posted the story,I heard from her boyfriend, who identified the good citizen as Erin Ball,a 26 year old girl working for a trade organization.
Once I figured out her,I called to thank her.She said she found my wallet and thought that it's more dangerous to go to a stranger's house than leaving the wallet with the driver, but she still decided to take the chance.“If I were in that situation,I would want someone to try to find me,” she said.Ball doesn't find her actions particularly excellent. She added,“It's not hard to do small things for people.”
After Ball found my wallet, she decided to post a picture of my driver's license online before going to my house, trying to see if anyone knew me.No sooner had she left my doorstep than I got emails from two neighbors who recognized my face, both offering to help me find my missing property.
Ball found my house on a bitterly cold night, for which I was extremely grateful.Looking back,I'm not surprised someone had wanted to help a stranger.A warm current of honesty and harmony(和谐) is running through this town.

Finally, the teacher who had the room next to mine came in to see what all the laughter was about.
“Why laugh?” I said,“will someone please tell me what is so funny?”
“Oh,” said the teacher.“You have a brown sock to the back of your skirt!”

Earthquake rescue robots have experienced their final tests in Beijing.Their designers say with these robots, rescuers will be able to have more time to save more lives during an earthquake.
This robot, looking like a helicopter,is called the detector bot. It's about 4 meters long, and it took about 4 years to develop the model. Its main functions are to collect information from the air,and send goods of up to 30 kilos to people trapped by an earthquake.
This robot has a high definition 360 degree panoramic(全景的) camera. It can work day and night and will also be able to send the latest pictures from the quake area.
Dr.Qi Juntong, from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, said,“The most important feature of this robot is that it doesn't need a distant control. We just set the destination(目的地) information on it,and then it takes off,and lands by itself. It flies as high as 3,000 meters, and as fast as 100 kilometers per hour.”
This robot has a different function—it can change as the environment changes. Its main job is to search for any signs of life in places where human rescuers are unable to go.
As well as a detector(探测器) that finds victims and detects poisonous gas,a camera is placed in the 40 centimeter long robot, which can work in the dark.
Another use for the rescuers is the supply bot. With its 10 meter long pipe, people who are trapped in the ruins, will be able to get supplies including oxygen and liquids.
Experts have said that the robots will enter production, and serve as part of the national earthquake rescue team as soon as next year.

Do your homework.
37 Guides will help you when you get to the site, but is that the best place to go Is it popular only because the one day tourist can see it easily or because it is really a worthwhile place to visit? You'd better check it out.
38
Walk around, even if in the streets closest to your hotel.Eat in local restaurants.Talk to the locals.Learn a few in the local language and use them. You will surely get a smile from the hotel staff and street sellers.
Help preserve the sites.
Most of the sites you visit may be visited by millions of people a year,so care needs to be taken to allow others to enjoy them as well. Some of these monuments are so old and fragile that they are sensitive to the touch of hands or bags and shows. 39 This way,you don't encourage the use of those plastic bags that fly all over many sites.
And here's the big one—good manners are nearly universal.
40 If that doesn't sound like you, then give the world a break and stay home.
A.Experience the place.

Robert and Henry were two friends in the same class. They always played together and went home together. One day,Robert and Henry were going home from school, when,on turning a corner,Robert cried out,“A fight! Let's go and see!”
“No,” said Henry.“Let's go quietly home and not meddle (插手) with this quarrel. We have nothing to do with it and may get into trouble. Also our parents are expecting to have dinner with us together at home and I don't want them to worry about me.”
“You are a coward (懦夫),and afraid to go,” said Robert, and off he ran.Henry went straight home, and in the afternoon went to school as usual.
But Robert had told all the boys that Henry was a coward, and they laughed at him a great deal. From then on,they looked down upon Henry and didn't want to play with him together.
Henry was sad but he wasn't angry with Robert for his rude behavior, because he knew that they misunderstood him,and that he ought to be afraid of nothing but doing wrong. Thus,he just ignored the other boys' laughter and continued to go to school and study as well. However,Robert didn't invite him to go home with him any more.Instead,he had some other boys who also thought Henry was a coward.Every day after school, they didn't go home directly but went to the river or somewhere to play games and had a lot of fun.
A few days later,Robert was bathing with his new friends in a river, and got out of his depth. He struggled and cried for help, but he failed. The boys who had called Henry a coward got out of the water as fast as they could, but they did nothing to help him.
