学生通过本课时的学习,能够:
通过观看视频,了解外国人眼中的中国文化,增强文化自信。
与小组同伴合作,为自己的学校制作一份宣传册。
用简洁的语言向外国朋友介绍自己的学校。
用英语向外国人介绍中国文化。
III.教学思路
在 Video Time 的教学部分,教师首先通过展示外国人在中国的照片激发学生的兴趣,然后让学生完成预测、填表、补全句子、问答等活动,循序渐进地理解视听内容,最后通过相关话题的讨论,进一步培养学生的思维和表达能力。在此基础上,教师引入 Project 部分的活动,让学生制作学校的宣传册,向外国留学生介绍自己的学校,鼓励他们来自己的学校参观、访问和交流。学生分小组活动,分头收集材料、分享初稿,并在课后完成宣传册的制作。
IV.教学过程
Activity 1: Make a prediction about the video.
Look at some pictures of foreigners living in China and discuss the question : Why are more and more foreigners coming to study or work in China
Look at the photo from the video and read the introduction of the video . Make a prediction about the video by ticking the items in BEFORE YOU WATCH on page 24.
Answer the question : What are some other things that foreigners are interested in about China

Activity 2: Watch for comprehension.
Watch the video and check your prediction . Then finish Activity 1 in WHILE YOU WATCH .
Watch the video again and finish Activity 2. Then answer the questions .

Activity 4: Understand the setting and study the example on page 23.
Suppose your school is going to hold a world cultural exchange conference next month . Work in groups and make a booklet about your school for the foreign students who will attend the conference .
Look at the example on page 23.
Work in groups and discuss the questions .

设计说明:本活动在教材基础上重新设计了活动语境,以便与前面的视听部分自然衔接。在视听部分,四个留学生分享了自己的文化交流体验;本部分的语境是为前来参加国际文化交流大会的留学生制作宣传册,帮助他们了解自己的学校。教师首先引导学生阅读教材提供的范例,然后组织他们讨论如何制作宣传册,为后续的步骤作准备。
Activity 5: Brainstorm information to be included in the booklet .
Look at the table in Activity 1 on page 23. Discuss the information for each topic and complete the table . Add more topics as necessary .

Activity 6: Divide up the work among your group members .
Work in groups and decide what information should be included in your booklet . Each member is responsible for one or more topics .
Work out a draft for your topic ( s ). Design your page ( s ) by using photos , pictures , maps , headers , background colours , etc .
设计说明:本活动让学生通过开展"头脑风暴"确定宣传册中包含的内容,并在组内分工,分头准备不同话题的页面,写出初稿。该活动有助于培养学生的协作能力和团队精神。由于课内时间有限,宣传册的制作建议课下完成。
Activity 7: Discuss how to revise the draft in a group .
Work in groups and discuss each member ' s draft . Give suggestions on how to improve the draft .
Revise your draft according to your group ' s feedback . Think about how to make it more attractive . Get help from your group members or the teacher if necessary .
设计说明:本活动让学生在组内讨论宣传页初稿,并参考同伴的建议修改初稿,为课后修改初稿作准备。
Assignment
Refine the page ( s ) you made for your school booklet . Work on the computer and print your page ( s ) if necessary . Put everyone ' s page ( s ) together and design the layout of the booklet as a group . Then share your booklet with other groups .
Suppose you have interviewed the four international students in the video . Write a report based on what they have said .
设计说明:第一项作业要求学生进一步完善自己负责的宣传页初稿,然后与小组成员一起完成宣传册的制作,并与其他小组分享和交流。该任务有助于培养学生的合作能力和创造能力。第二项作业让学生通过写新闻报道来巩固视听内容,落实视频中的语言表达,帮助学生将课堂所学的内容转化为自己的语言。
