A crowd cheered Kunle Adeyanju as he turned off his motorbike engine after completing a tiring 41-day trip. The 44-year-old left London on April 19 and arrived in Nigeria's commercial center Lagos on Sunday after travelling more than 8, 000 miles across 13 countries. He started the impressive journey to raise funds for Rotary International to deal with polio(小儿麻痹症) in his native Nigeria.
Accompanied by a dozen bikers for the last stretch of the journey from the Republic of Benin, Adeyanju was welcomed by supporters in Ikeja, in central Lagos. Adeyanju, called "Lion Heart" by fans, won popularity among the public by posting daily pictures with comments about his journey on social media. At every stop along the way, he was greeted by enthusiastic(热情地) supporters.
He did face some challenges, like the one in Mali where one of his wheels broke. "I was standing in the middle of the night, alone in a bush, not knowing what to do, without speaking the language, " he said, explaining he had to walk to the nearest village. "Fortunately, the locals helped me." Not all of the challenges he faced were solved smoothly. "Mauritania, a country in northwest Africa, was 'terrible', " he said, after he got robbed of hundreds of euros. "The worst experience," he added.
The former Shell employee self-funded his trip with ﹩20, 400 in savings, hoping to raise up to ﹩48 million for Rotary International. "I have been suffering from a lack of sleep lately because I slept only three to four hours per night. But I feel proud because I finished this challenge," Adeyanju said just after he arrived, wiping the sweat off his face. Adeyanju added that he is now planning to have a possible cycling trip to Ghana or a bike ride to Israel to help raise more funds. And he has another dream: to climb Mount Qomolangma.
24.Why did Adeyanju go on the 41-day trip? ______
A. To challenge himself. B. To help people fight polio.

It's obvious that plastic pollution is a big problem nowadays. Luckily, researchers have found a chemical from a kind of worm can degrade one of the most common forms of plastic. The finding could open up new ways to deal with the problem.
There have been several studies showing microorganisms can release enzymes(酶)that cause the plastic polyethylene (聚乙烯) to start to change. But that process takes a long time. The recently-discovered enzymes were found in the saliva(唾液)of the wax worm moth. They appear to act in only a few hours.
Federica Bertocchini is one of the researchers who helped write a study on the finding. She is also a beekeeper. Bertocchini said that one year she found her honeycombs full of wax worms. Honeycombs are built by bees to store honey. She cleaned the honeycombs and put the worms in a plastic bag. When she returned, she found the bag was full of holes. All this made her wonder if the worms were eating the plastic or if there was a chemical reaction that caused the holes, leading to the idea of the research.
"We checked that, doing proper lab experiments, and we found the polyethylene had been oxidized(氧化), "she said.
In her latest research, Bertocchini and her coworkers identified two enzymes in the worm's saliva. The enzymes appeared to break down polyethylene in only a few hours at room temperature. Bertocchini says her team is still trying to understand how the worms deal with the plastic. She adds, hopefully in the future, the enzymes can be used in homes, where each family could deal with their own plastic waste.
28.What does the underlined word "degrade" in paragraph 1 probably mean? ______
A. Break down. B. Bring forth. C. Compete with. D. Pick out.
29.What is the advantage of the recently-discovered enzymes? ______
A. They're easily available. B. They can be produced at home.
C. They function very fast. D. They can be applied to all plastics.
30.What does paragraph 3 mainly tell us? ______
A. How Bertocchini found the enzymes.
B. Why Bertocchini cleaned the honeycombs.
C. How Bertocchini took care of the honeycombs.
D. How Bertocchini came up with the idea of the research.
31.What does Bertocchini expect of the enzymes according to the text? ______
A. They will work at room temperature. B. People can make them on their own.
C. They will solve all plastic pollution. D. They will become a household product.

With more and more kids picking up bats and gloves, efforts to build a "baseball ecosystem" in China continue to produce impressive results. And with Major League Baseball (MLB) a key contributor to the drive, Chinese kids are learning from the very best in the business.
"The baseball environment has changed greatly since MLB entered the Chinese market. When we first came to China in 2007, the baseball population in the country was very limited." said Tony Qi, managing director of MLB China. "But in 2019, the active baseball population had reached over 20million. When we first organized the youth baseball match in five Chinese cities in 2008, each city had only one age-group to take part. But this year we have 20 cities, and in some cities we have competitions for five age groups."
Around 400 teams have taken part in the MLB China Cup, a nationwide youth competition designed to encourage kids to take up baseball. During one recent season in Beijing, there were about 100 teams that wanted to take part in the MLB Cup. So, MLB, the Chinese Baseball Association and local baseball organizations are all working together for a brighter Chinese baseball future.
Audiences have also been attracted by the 2020 documentary Tough Out, which tells the lives of a group of Chinese teenagers whose lives are changed through baseball. "In the documentary, the kids build a new home in their baseball team, together with their coaches in a Beijing suburb," said Qi. "The notion (观念) of home is very important in baseball culture. Through baseball, these kids gained home, friendship and confidence. They also gained the courage to fight against the hard situations they found themselves in. We're planning to produce more content like this to make baseball culture popular."
32.How does the author show the great change of baseball environment in China
A. By sorting out the facts. B. By listing benefits.
C. By making comparisons. D. By stressing importance.
33.Why is the MLB China Cup designed
A. To show Chinese baseball future. B. To inspire kids to learn baseball.
C. To award more prizes to the youth. D. To work with local baseball organizations.
34.What do we know about the 2020 documentary Tough Out
A. It attracts more people to live in Beijing suburbs.
B. It gives kids courage to take part in baseball matches.
C. It has greatly changed the life of Chinese teenagers.
D. It plays a part in making baseball popular in China.

A Basketball Final
On April 10, the basketball final between Class 1 and Class 2 began on the basketball court. Students spent a lot of time preparing for the basketball game before the sports event. Practising day in and day out was not easy for them. However, each team fought for winning the game. At first, Class2 fell behind Class 1 in the game, but they didn’t give up and seized every opportunity to attack. In the end, Class 2 defeated the opponent with one shot into the basket, which was beyond everyone’s expectations. As a result, their dream came true and they won the game due to the cooperation between teammates.
As far as I am concerned, the team spirit is the key to their remarkable performance and self-belief also contributes to their success.
