(1) 构成:由“助动词had(用于各种人称和数) + 过去分词”构成。
否定式:had not + 过去分词
缩写形式:hadn’t
(2) 用法:过去完成时表示在过去某一时间或动作之前已经发生或完成了的动作。
(3) 它所表示动作发生的时间是“过去的过去”。
① 表示过去某一时间可用by, before 等构成的短语来表示。
② 也可以用when, before 等引导的时间状语从句来表示。

Today I will tell you about some unexpected events that happened to me.

2.I felt lucky to be alive.
alive是形容词,侧重说明生与死之间的界限,既可指人,也可指物。可用来作表语,后置定语或宾补等。虽有死的可能,但还活着。
e.g. He is dead,but his dog is still alive.
他死了,但他的狗仍还活着。
e.g. He wanted to keep the fish alive.
他想让鱼活着。
living 意为“活着的”,强调说明“尚在人间”,“健在”,可用来指人或物,作定语或表语。My first teacher is still living.我的启蒙老师仍健在。
live 意为“活的”,通常指物,不指人,常用作定语放在名词的前面。
还指“实况转播的”。He said he had seen a live whale.他说他看见过活鲸鱼。
lively 意为“活泼的;活跃热情的;充满活力的”,可作定语、表语或宾补,既可指人,也可指物。Jenny is a lively girl.珍妮是个活泼的女孩。

by the time 意为“到……时候(为止)”, 是一
个介词短语, 在句中常起到连词的作用,
引导时间状语从句。
如果从句中的谓语动词是一般过去时, 那么主句的谓语动词通常用过去完成时, 表示“截止到从句动作发生时, 主句动作已经完成, 即过去的过去”。
2. 如果从句中的谓语动词为一般现在时, 那么主句中的谓语动词常用将来完成时, 表示“截止到将来的某一时刻为止, 主句动作将已完成”。
例:By the time I get home, they will have
left. 我到家时他们将已经离开。
By the time I graduate next year, I will
have lived here for five years. 到明年毕
业时,我将已经在这待了五年了。
(1)by the end of +时间点意为“到……结束时”。
① +过去的时间点, 主句用过去完成时;
