Teaching goals: 1.Train the students to understand the letter of thanks ( 2b ) by using the reading strategies of predicting,skimming and detail reading. 2.Help the students to identify parts of speech (词性) of specific words and make sentences correctly. 3.Let the students have a better understanding of the core values of Chinese socialism:prosperity(富强),democracy(民主),civility(文明 ),harmony(和谐),freedom(自由),equality(平等), justice(公正 ),rule of law(法制),patriotism(爱国),dedication(敬业),integrity(诚信),goodwill(友善).

Teaching importances: Train the students to understand the letter of thanks ( 2b ) by using the reading strategies of predicting skimming and detail reading. Teaching difficulties: How to identify parts of speech of specific words and make sentences correctly.
教学过程
Teaching process: Step 1: Lead-in question Life is full of difficulties. It’s normal to have difficulties in our everyday life. Most of time , we can face and solve them by ourselves.But sometimes the difficulties are too hard for us to manage them alone.Then we need the help of others. If someone helps us,we will be grateful and want to express our thanks. 2a. How do you usually thank someone who helps you . Step 2: Pre-reading tasks Task 1: Predication. look at the picture and predict. Who is Lucky in the picture What do you think the dog can do What ‘s the relationship between the two speakers Step 3: While-reading tasks Task 1: Skim the letter and match the main ideas of each paragraph. Para. 1 C. The writer expresses his thanks to Miss Li for her help. Para. 2 A. The writer talks about his difficulties as a disable person and how his friend helped him out. Para. 3 D. The writer introduces how he got the special trained dog Lucky and how the dog helped him. Para. 4 B. The writer expresses his thanks again. Task 2: 2b. Read the letter carefully and answer the questions. 1. Who wrote the letter to Miss Li Ben Smith. 2. What did Miss Li do 3. What difficulties does the writer have 4. Who helped the writer out How 5. What can Lucky do . 6.
