When we were finally dismissed from the last class of the day, the students streamed out of the classrooms. It was another boring day after school. I dragged my feet home as I sighed. Yet another uneventful day, I thought. Little did I know(倒装) that the day would take a turn for the worse.
The lift lobby (电梯间) of my flat was old and dirty. The walls, which were painted white, had been dirtied over many years. I reached my flat’s lobby, and pressed the lift button and went in. Just then, Mrs Lim, my elderly neighbour, hobbled (蹒跚) in. She looked ancient with tissue paper white hair, wearing a faded old-fashioned dress. I held the lift door open, flashing a friendly smile, and politely greeted her. I asked her how she felt that day and pressed the buttons. She thanked me for being so polite, then we were silent for the rest of the ride (并列句).
The lift fell down increasingly fast. There were loud clanking sounds here and there while the lift grew slower and slower. My heart beat hard and fast as my hands turned cold and wet with sweat. Unfortunately, the lift came to an abrupt stop at the fifth floor. I pressed the buttons hard several times, but it was of no help(并列句). The lights on the buttons had gone out. It soon dawned on me that we were trapped. An icy fear crept up my spine. Mrs Lim was hysterical (歇斯底里).
“We will never get out!” she cried with her face pale. It had become a colourless mask. I had no time to lose. I pressed the bell in the lift immediately. The sound was surely deafening, but what other choice did I have(并列句) Mrs Lim burst into tears. I tried my very best to comfort her, telling her that everything would be all right and that we needed to find out how to get out safely. Mrs Lim began having trouble breathing, and I immediately helped her sit down and loosened her collar(并列句).

参考答案
Several minutes passed, but no help came. The air-conditioning had died out, and the lift became really stuffy(闷热的). We were sweating buckets (大汗淋漓). We tried to ring the emergency alarm again. Every second that passed was painful “Help!!!”. I screamed at the top of my lungs, trying to get someone's attention. A wave of despair washed over me. I felt like we would never make it. In one last effort, I tried banging on the doors. The next few minutes felt like hours as we waited in complete silence.
Bang! My hopes were lifted when I heard the firefighters on the other side of the lift door. Help was finally here! The brave firefighters hit the doors open using their tools. It felt like a hundred pound weight was lifted off me, and Mrs. Lim thanked the heavens that someone had come to our rescue. I made a sigh of relief when the doors were finally opened and all this drama was over. The firefighter praised me for helping Mrs. Lim. I returned their praise with gratitude and Mrs. Lim thanked me and even gave me a hug.

Several minutes passed without any assistance arriving. As the air in the lift lobby grew increasingly thin, I found myself struggling to breathe. Both of us were gripped by tension and anxiety, desperately searching for a way out. I attempted to push open the door, but it felt as heavy as a ton of bricks, refusing to budge. In a moment of desperation, I called out for help at the top of my lungs. Just as Mrs. Lim began to lose hope, I remembered the emergency button. I pressed it and waited anxiously for help to arrive. After what felt like an eternity, I heard footsteps approaching.
Bang! My heart leaped with joy when I heard the firefighters on the other side of the lift door. Mrs. Lim and I shouted with excitement, beckoning for their assistance. "Here! We're here! Please help us!" Our eyes sparkled with newfound hope. The firefighters responded swiftly, breaking through the door of the lift lobby to reach us. Finally, Mrs. Lim and I emerged from the lift, breathing in the fresh air with gratitude. We expressed our deepest thanks to the firefighters, embracing each other tightly in relief. In moments of danger, it is crucial to hold onto hope, for it is our beacon to a new beginning.

Several minutes passed without any assistance arriving. My heart was pounding rapidly. I decided to breathe deeply to clear my head. An idea flashed through my mind. Immediately, I picked up my phone and called 911. What a terrible day! I comforted Mrs. Lim that we were definitely to be rescued. The lift lobby was still sinking. I gradually became desperate. I stood silently, tears rolling down my cheeks. Mrs. Lim beat the lift lobby in despair. After fifteen minutes, I heard firefighters coming and felt a glimmer of hope.
Bang! My spirits soared when I heard the firefighters on the other side of the lift door. The light outside shone in the lift. Words could not express my excitement. I took Mrs. Lim and walked out. I was breathing fresh air. The whole place was filled with thunderous applause. The unforgettable experience was carved into my heart and nothing would be able to erase it. It turns out that there's always a way out of any trouble as long as we never give up hope.
参考范文三
Several minutes passed without any assistance arriving. Realizing that all we could do was to keep ourselves safe and wait for help, I returned to Mrs. Lim, sat near her side, and talked to her to help her calm down. As time passed, the situation worsened, and it seemed like nobody would find us trapped. With the thin air, low temperature, and discouraging darkness, we stopped talking, just looked at each other, and waited. A surge of negativity and disappointment enveloped the whole lift lobby.
Bang! My spirits soared when I heard the firefighters on the other side of the lift door. Immediately, we stood up, patted on the door, and shouted with all our might, "We are here! Help! Help!" Ultimately, we were saved by the firefighters. After being released from the lift lobby, Mrs. Lim and I showed genuine gratitude to them and hugged each other tightly, with tears welling up in our eyes. Getting away from danger, the special day finally taught me that I had the ability to find small but beautiful things. What a somewhat bad but totally meaningful day!

Several minutes passed, but no help came. The cold crept in, and my feet felt like blocks of ice. The air seemed too heavy, pressing down on us with a weight that made it hard to breathe. Mrs. Lim looked at me with eyes full of fear, saying softly, “I’m going to die in here.” But I couldn't give up. I hit the emergency button, hoping it would tell the firefighters. Then, I gently calmed Mrs. Lim, trying to make her less scared. Suddenly, a voice from outside responded to our call, saying that help was coming.
Bang! My hopes were lifted when I heard the firefighters on the other side of the lift door. Relief came over me, and I shouted to guide them to where we were. It wasn’t long before the sounds of their work reached us, giving us the will to wait. With a few strong moves, they opened the door, and light came into the dark space. Mrs. Lim and I shouted in happiness, our hearts beating fast with thankfulness as we walked out into the fresh air.
