In junior high school，one of my classmates，Eithan，was addicted to TV.
This boy simply knew everything about such pop shows as Who’s the Boss
Then one day Ethan’s mother made him an after in order to draw him back
to his school subjects. She promised that she would give him $200 if he could
go a full month without watching any TV. None of us thought Ethan could do it，
but he did quit TV. His mom paid him $200. He went out and bought a TV，the
biggest he could find.
In recent years，hundreds of schools have carried out experiments with
paying kids with cash for showing up or getting good grades. All school kids
admire this trend. But it upsets adults. Teachers say that we are rewarding kids
for doing what they should be doing of their own will. Psychologists warn that
money can actually make lies perform worse by making the act of learning cheap.
The debate has become a typical hattle over why our kids are not learning at the
rate they should be despite decades of reforms and budget increases.

了钱，一个人可以买他喜欢的任何东西。有了钱，一个人可以
做任何他喜欢的事情。所以，在他们看来，金钱可以带来舒
适、安全等等。他们认为金钱是幸福的源泉。但是仍然有很多
人认为金钱是万恶之源。金钱驱使人们去偷、去抢、去犯法。
很多人成为罪犯只是因为他们在寻找金钱。在西方国家，没
有什么是不能被收买的在西方国家，没有什么是不能用金钱买
到的。很多人在猎杀它的时候失去了自己的生命。我认为钱对
生活是必不可少的，我们不能没有钱。但是即使金钱是生活所
必需的，它也买不到幸福。幸福不是能用金钱来衡量的。它是
一种精神状态。一个人可以有很多钱，用这些钱他可以买任何
他想要的东西，同时他也不快乐，因为他从不满足，或者他被
各种各样的问题所困扰。

Various people have various answers. Some people think that money is
the source of happiness. With money，one can buy whatever he enjoys. With
money，one can do whatever he likes. So，in their minds，money can bring
comfort，security，and so on. Money，as they think，is the source of
happiness. But there are still a lot of others who think that money is the
root of all evil. Money drives people to steal，to rob，and to break the
law.
A lot of people became criminals just because they were in search of
money. And in the Western countries，there is nothing that cant be bought
by money. Many people lose their own lives when hunting it. I think that
money is essential to life and we cannot do without money. But even though
money is necessary to life，it cant buy happiness. Happiness is not
something that can be measured by money. It is a state of mind. One can
have plenty of money，with which he can buy whatever he wants，and at
the same time he is not happy because he is never satisfied or he is troubled

Therefore，although money is necessary for a happy life，it can't buy
