I first met Bo when I volunteered to be a docent(讲解员) at the zoo. It was a summer program our school participated in, where biology students earned extra credit by teaching little kids about some of the animals. I needed to increase my biology grade, so I asked my friend Sue Wang to be my partner. “Melanie, I'll do this with you,” she said, “but I'll do the talking. No way will I handle the animals!” That was OK with me.
During the training course, our instructor, Mr. Lindsey came to Sue and me and said, “OK, girls, your animal is a boa(蟒蛇).”I felt myself go cold. “I have to handle a boa ”
That night, I had a nightmare. I was carrying the snake around a classroom, showing the kids, when all of a sudden it started constricting(收紧). It squeezed and squeezed, and I couldn't breathe! I woke up in a sweat, my body rigid.
Next day I told my instructor. “Sure you can do it,” he said. He slid the door of the snake carrier open. “Now put your elbow in-slowly-and wait for him to crawl on your arm. Good, that's the way.” He wasn't wet or slimy. He was dry and ... soft! But it was scary! Mr. Lindsey stood beside me. “Relax, Melanie. You need to show him you aren't afraid. He needs to trust you, and you need to trust him.” Yeah, right. He didn't do anything. Awesome! I named him Bo. After a few school visits, I began to really like my boa and was pretty much at ease with him.
Then came the day I will never forget. As usual, I opened the carrier and took him out. After Sue talked about how boas live mostly in rain forests in Central and South America, I walked around the classroom, saying, “Don't be afraid. See, he is nice. You can touch him gently, here, on his back. His name is Bo.”
Most of the kids actually did touch him, and everything went fine until one boy, for some unknown reasons, tapped Bo on the head. I froze.
1.续写词数应为150左右;
Paragraph 1: My worst nightmare came true!
Paragraph 2: I closed the carrier and signaled the kids to come inside.
paragraph1: My worst nightmare came true!
paragraph2: I closed the carrier and signaled the kids to come inside.

My worst nightmare came true! Startled, Boa seemed poised to strike anyone it perceived as a threat. Bo raised its head high and hissed threateningly at the boy, whose once-smiling face now turned pale. “Everybody! It’s alright! Calm down and don’t panic! Bo is okay!” At that critical moment, Sue’s soothing yet firm voice broke through the tension.I was so grateful that she was there and tried to control the scene. “Now, let’s leave some space to us and Bo. Everybody, leave the room one by one.” Under Sue’s comforting voice, students left in order. Soon, the class was empty. Bo began to calm down and rested its head on my arm. Then I took the chance to get it back to the carrier. I closed the carrier and signaled the kids to come inside. This time, I showed Bo safely in the carrier. Sue continued, “Kids, when dealing with animals, we need to respect their natural behaviors. Animals won’t attack people unprovoked! They’re our friends and should be treated as such!” All kids nodded earnestly, their eyes reflecting genuine respect and understanding. The biology interaction continued, and kids continued to know more about Bo in safety distance. With time ticking by, more kids could dare touch Bo in a gentle way while Bo showed its kindness and tolerance with generosity. The day ended with cheerful goodbye amid kids’s laughters and applause. It was lucky that everyone would come back home safe and sound.
My worst nightmare came true! I could feel my heart racing as I watched in horror, fearing Bo's reaction. Would he lash out in fear or retaliate in defense I held my breath, praying for calmness to prevail. At the same time, Sue signaled all students to leave the classroom in case of emergency. To my relief, despite the commotion, Bo remained surprisingly composed, showing no signs of aggression. Slowly, I regained my composure, realizing that my initial panic was unwarranted. It was a testament to the bond of trust that had developed between Bo and me over time. As I gently guided Bo back into his carrier, I couldn't help but marvel at the resilience and trust that had grown between us.I closed the carrier and signaled the kids to come inside. Then students were ushered in, whose curiosity remained undiminished. With eager eyes and outstretched hands, they crowded around the carrier, eager for another glimpse of Bo. As I continued the presentation, I emphasized the importance of respecting animals' boundaries and treating them with kindness and care. Through Bo's gentle demeanor, I hoped to instill in the children a deeper appreciation for the beauty and diversity of nature. As the session drew to a close, I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and accomplishment. Not only had I conquered my fear of snakes, but I had also succeeded in sharing my newfound love and respect for these remarkable creatures with the next generation.
paragraph1: My worst nightmare came true!Bo suddenly began to wrap himself around the little boy's arm, which was beginning to constrict.I felt the blood in my body froze rapidly.Suddenly, the words that my instructor said occurred to me.”You need to show him you aren’t afraid. He needs to trust you, and you need to trust him.”I tried to calm down and said to the little boy, "Don't be afraid, you have to trust him enough. It won't hurt you."At the same time, I held out my arm to get it to climb up, and luckily I made it!I put Bo back in the carrier.
paragraph2: I closed the carrier and signaled the kids to come inside."I was scared when I first came here. However, my coach told me not to show that you're afraid of it. You two have a trusting relationship."Looking at their surprised eyes, I understood the importance of trust that the coach had told me. The reason why the little boy will listen to my words to escape from the snake entanglement is also out of trust in me.If everyone in the world can trust each other, I believe our home will be a better place.
