Grammar
1. 基本结构:主语 + was /were + doing +其他。
2. 否定形式:主语 + wasn’t /weren’t +doing +其他。

For example
An important event that I remember well was a forest fire in Sichuan. It happened on March 30th, 2019. Finally thirty-one firemen lost their lives when they were fighting against the fire.
When I heard the news of this event, I was busy doing my homework in the study. My parents were at home, too. My father was watching TV while my mother was cooking dinner. We were all completely shocked and finished our dinner in silence.
The event has meaning to me because the spirit of the firemen moved me. They risked their lives to put out the fire and never gave up in times of difficulty. I think these brave firemen never die because they will forever live in our hearts.

Last summer holiday, I wanted to learn how to swim. I asked my father to teach me. I went to the swimming pool with my father. He taught me how to swim. At first, I was aftaid of diving in the water. And I felt uncomfortable in the water. But my father always encouraged me. He said he would protect me. Then I began to swim, but I couldn’t swim forward at all. It made me upset. Then my father told me how to move, how to stretch out my arms and legs. Slowly, I could move a little. It took me about four hours to learn to swim. I felt quite happy.
What an unforgettable experience it was!
