(1)前置
单个的动词-ed形式作定语,通常放在被修饰的名词______(如例句1、2)。

动词-ed形式的短语作定语,通常放在被修饰的名词______(如例句3、4)。

探究点1 动词-ed形式作定语的意义
1.及物动词的-ed形式通常表示被动和完成。如例1中的a forgotten journal=a journal that has been forgotten。
2.不及物动词的-ed形式通常表示主动和完成。如例2中的faded blue jeans=blue jeans that have faded。
3.某些带有持续意义的及物动词,如honour、love、respect、speak等,其动词-ed形式往往只有被动意义。

注意:有些动词-ed形式作前置定语时,既不表示被动,也不表示完成,因为它们已经形容词化,这类词有两个特点:

探究点2 动词不定式、动词-ing形式和动词-ed形式作定语时的区别
动词不定式作定语通常放在所修饰词之后,表示将来的动作。动词不定式与其所修饰的词之间往往是动宾关系,若该动词不定式是不及物动词,其后要加必要的介词。
作定语的及物动词的分词形式有:动词-ing形式、“being+done”、动词-ed形式。当被修饰的名词与分词之间为主动关系时,用动词-ing形式;当被修饰的名词与分词之间为被动关系且表示正在进行时,用“being+done”;当被修饰的名词与分词之间为被动关系且表示完成时,用动词-ed形式。
