教学过程
Step 1: Pre-reading lead-in Task: Students think about some questions and express their ideas about them. Aim: Connect the questions with the topic of this lesson, and show some background information to help students predict what will be talked about in this passage. This part can also stimulate students’ interest. Make predictions Task: Based on the title and pictures, students need to predict the main content. Aim: Improve students’ ability of making reasonable predictions. Step 2: while-reading Task: Students read the passage quickly and find out the main idea. Underline the topic sentence of each paragraph that gives the main idea. Aim; Improve students’ ability of getting key information in short time. Task: Students read the passage again and answer some questions. Aim: Improve students’ ability of finding detailed information. Make a summary Task: Students complete the mind map to supply information got from the passage. Aim: Help students have thorough understanding of this passage and develop their thinking quality. Step 3: post-reading Task: Students talk about festivals including origins, customs and the reasons why people celebrate it. Aim: Guide students to use language and link their experiences with the topic of this passage. Students can express their own opinions in this way. Step 4: Homework Task: Write down the introduction of your favorite festival. Aim: Guide students to know more cultural knowledge about festivals.
