课题 Unit 2 Healthy Lifestyle Using language (2):Reading and Writing
教学目标
At the end of the lesson, students should be able to: 1. understand two letters about the writers’ changes in lifestyle; 2. analyze the organization of the letters; 3. write a letter to the editor about his/her lifestyle; 4. reflect on his/her own lifestyle and improve it.
教学内容
教学重点: Write a letter to the editor about one aspect of the student’s own lifestyle that he/she would like to change. 教学难点: Analyze and summarize the organization of the letter about student’s lifestyle that he/she would like to change.
教学过程
Step One:Lead-in 1. Do a survey on students’ habits and problems. Do you have the following symptoms ●Feeling tired lately. ●Getting the flu easily. ●Suffering from sleep disorder such as insomnia, hypersomnia, light sleep or bad sleep. ●Concentrating difficultly. ●Being skinny or overweight. Do you have the following habits ●Using a phone too much at weekends. ●Not getting enough sleep. ●Staying up too late. ●Skipping breakfast. ●Not exercising regularly. ●Drinking too many sugary drinks instead of water. 2. Task assignment Task: Write a letter to the editor about one aspect of the student’s own lifestyle that he/she would like to change. Step Two: Reading Read the first letter on Page 20 and then answer the following questions. What problems did Wang Lu have What decisions has she made after the summer camp What has she done to change her bad habits What results has the change brought Read in details and then summarize 3 writing tips. Writing tip 1: concrete action Writing tip 2: clear structure Writing tip 3: rich content Read the second letter on Page 20 and then complete the table on Page 21. Read in details and then summarize the writing tip 4: Using famous quotes or proverbs. Analyze and summarize the organization of the letter. ●Part 1: identifying problem ●Part 2: considering what to do ●Part 3: what he/she has done to change ●Part 4: the results Step Three: Writing Brainstorm with the partner on the following questions. What lifestyle habit would you like to change Why do you want to change it How do you plan to change What result do you hope to see Write a letter to the editor about one aspect of student’s own lifestyle that he or she would like to change in about 150 words. Self-assessment Checklist: Does the letter say what your problem is Does the letter explain the decisions you made to solve the problem Does the letter show the ways to change Are the results included in the letter Is your attitude and determination clear in the letter Is the letter clear and complete Peer-assessment Step Four: Homework Revise the letter and share it with the rest of the class.
