Stand Up and exercise,students!
未删减版
Title: Break a Sweat, Students!
Dear editors of “Sports and Health,”
I am writing to recommend a suitable exercise for our school breaks: “Stand Up and Exercise!”
This exercise is simple and requires students to stand up and engage in physical activity for a few minutes between classes. You can choose to do some stretching exercises, jumping jacks, or even light aerobic activities.
Why do I recommend this exercise Firstly, sitting for long periods can be detrimental to our bodies and eyes. “Stand Up and Exercise” can help alleviate the discomfort caused by prolonged sitting, relieving pressure on our backs and waist. Secondly, physical activity stimulates our brains, enhancing focus and learning capacity. Studies have shown that short bursts of exercise can improve our ability to absorb new information and enhance learning and memory retention. Lastly, engaging in physical activity during break times promotes social interaction and teamwork among students, fostering a positive classroom atmosphere.
Therefore, I sincerely encourage all students to actively participate in “Stand Up and Exercise” during our breaks. Let’s strive for physical and mental well-being, and become the best version of ourselves!
Thank you for considering my recommendation.
Yours sincerely,

Dear fellow students,
The Great Wall stands as a reminder of China’s ancient civilization. However,it is suffering from human damage, such as graffiti and lettering, which also happens to other cultural relics.
To address these issues, I think the most important thing is to raise people’s awareness. When visiting cultural relics, do not touch the exhibits unless allowed. Besides, digital tourism can be used as an alternative. Travelling on the net is just like being personally on the scene; meanwhile, we can have a deeper understanding of the cultural relics.
Only with our joint efforts can all the cultural relics be well preserved. So let’s join hands to do some bits right now!

Dear Lynn,
How is everything going I'm thrilled to help you design a captivating cultural heritage brochure for the upcoming Multicultural Festival in your school.
For a proper topic, I recommend exploring the art of Chinese caligraphy. It's not only visually attractive but also deeply rooted in our history. You can dig into its origins, different styles, and the significance of each stroke. As for the brochure design, consider employing traditional Chinese colors likered and gold for an authentic feeling. And it's also a good idea to include a brief history, colorful and charming pictures, and perhaps a step-by-step guide to writing a few basic characters This interactive activity could engage readers and provide a hands-on experience.
Let me know if you need more information or assistance. Wishing you great success with the project!

Dear Peter,
A Chinese traditional food tasting party specifically for international students will be held in our school. Given that you are keen on it, I'm writing to invite you to join us.
When it comes to my favourite dish, "Dongpo Pork" comes first. Dongpo Pork is famous for its rich flavor and tender texture. Carefully selected and cooked using a special method, the dish is both fatty and juicy. What I love most is the joy it brings when it is shared with friends and family. Each bite of the tender meat is filled with warmth, love, and a taste that will leave you craving for more.
It will be a golden opportunity to appreciate the beauty of Chinese cuisine firsthand. Looking forward to your coming!

5. 在绝望中,Eva突然想出一个 mind trick,关注橡树的倒影,关注转弯等spot,而不是“mile”,就这样跑完一圈又一圈。
段首句:

Paragraph 2:Eva decided to use the same trick to deal with the school building.

Paragraph 1:When Coach Pitt said "Great work" to her at the finish line, Eva was surprised. Never in her wildest dream did she expect the one mile run should be greatly shortened by her effective mind trick, that is, marking the shadow of the oak tree or the bend so that she could accelerate and charge at these little targets. Beaming the most radiant smile to Coach Pitt, the sweaty Eva collapsed on the ground and whispered "I made it!" in a panting voice. After what felt like an eternity, her pounding heart slowed down and an idea suddenly popped into her mind, 'If I can highlight the landmark in the track field, so can I in dealing with the six-story maze-like school building.' With this thought, she leapt up, face radiating with hope and determination.
Paragraph 2:Eva decided to use the same trick to deal with the school building. As opposed to taking them as invisible, She carefully marked the shelf-lined library on the second floor, the spacious cafeteria on the ground floor as well as busy gym on the third floor. Even the inconspicuous lab on the fifth floor was etched into her little mind. That really worked! Within a week or two, Eva could find every facility or room with ease and an unprecedented sense of confidence grew in her previously disoriented heart. No longer did Eva feel lost in this gigantic, labyrinth-like building. Instead, she adapted to her high school life like a full-fledged duckling to water. See the huge effect a simple mind trick could make!

阅读下面材料, 根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
“You should throw me in the bin, Mummy.”
Those are the words my son say to me, words a mother should never hear their child say. When I asked him why, he told me that like his digger, he was broken and could not be fixed. My heart cracked a little more at that and I knew that, I had to try and find a way to bring back the joy into our world.
At age two, he was diagnosed with type two diabetes and he was “just losing his puppy-
fat”. My son grew sicker and sicker until eventually, he was admitted into hospital.
Motherhood changed in that moment. I went from “Mummy” to nurse, always keeping a watch for signs he might be in danger from his own body. It can be hard to find the balance between the demands of being a full-time carer for a child with illness and being a mother. In those early days, it broke me to hear him beg and cry for me not to hurt him with needles again. The risks that come along are as big as they can be: blindness, organ failure, coma, death. His life is, and always will be, dependent on the monitoring and assessment of all these factors.
Yet, I had to find a way to raise him to know that he could live it fully and with all his dreams within reach. I had to learn how to live with these two roles, just as he had to learn to live with the demands his body would place on him. What I had not expected was to find the way through in the mud and nubble (瓦砾) of a new-build social housing estate.
My husband, son and I moved to the new estate in Cumbria when my son was four. The back garden was nothing more than a patch of newly sown grass, and a thin layer of topsoil. Underneath that was rubble and rock. The site was a former industrial stoneworks, and but to us,
it was a place of hope.

Soon after we moved in, my son and I decided to plant a garden. This small garden let us both live again.
官方范文
Soon after we moved in, my son and I decided to plant a garden. He worked out plans with his drawings. Soon after we started digging, slowly seeing the bones of his dream become reality. We used what we could find. We taught ourselves how to build ponds, and how to grow food. For plants, we rescued the weeds that would otherwise be dug up. My son tenderly transplanted these into our new beds with a welcome, as if each were the most delicate of flowers. Plant by plant, our garden grew, creating a place of magic and medicine, for all that lived there—plant, animal and human.

This small garden let us both live again. He brought delight into my world, and I scattered into his the magic of small seeds. As our little garden took shape, we both discovered an important thing: that even though things might not be perfect, even though there might be things that are hard and hurt, even though the ground may be broken, this soil still holds the potential to nurture and grow our dreams. We imagined ourselves a secret garden that began with the simplest of things: a weed. From it, we grew joy.

“It's your turn, Anna,” Ms. Hammond said. Taking a deep breath, I stepped to the front of the room and cleared my throat. “This summer I.--well, I...” I stared at the floor. This was my last chance to save my dignity with a tale of fake adventure. Then I thought about how hard Grandpa worked to save our planet. Gathering my courage, I described the process of collecting and analyzing cow poop and how it was transformed into sustainable fuel. Surprisingly, my classmates listened attentively. As I concluded my sustainable adventure, I gracefully bowed to them.
The class cheered as I returned to my desk, and some of my classmates approached me with admiration in their eyes. Ember Adams, who had just shared her journey to Mount Everest, clapped me on the back. “That's socool, Anna! Turning poop into fuel That never crossed my mind!” she exclaimed. Soon, others joined the conversation, intrigued by the unusual nature of my summer experience. A sense of relief, joy and pride overwhelmed me. Instead of being the target of laughter, I became the center of attention. My seemingly “stinky'summer vacation was actually not only a fabulous planet-saving adventure but also opened a door to my friendships with my new fifth-grade peers!

This day continued to get worse. During the break, my classmates began playing the video, which had captured my ridiculous look, bursting into laughter. I had to put on a hat to cover my frizzy hair, face turning red. Even worse, I had forgotten that it was the day of school meeting, where every student was required to wear school uniform. So embarrassed was I that I stared at my sweatpants, wanting to hide myself somewhere. It was the worst birthday I had ever had! After school, I dragged my wounded legs behind me on the way home.
When I finally went home, I found my parents' car was in the driveway. Opening the door, I found nobody in the house, only to be greeted by the darkness. A surge of sadness flooded into my mind, and my throat and knee became even more painful. No sooner had I turned on the light than a shout of "Surprise!" erupted. Suddenly my parents jumped out, carrying a big birthday cake. A wave of happiness took hold of me. After enjoying the delicious cake, my parents drove me to treat my sore throat and injured knee. Even though this birthday was filled with medicine and bad luck, family love was sweeter than anything else.

However, by the end of the day, the votes were counted and Debbie was declared the winner. It was a moment that stung and cruelly dampened the hopes of my supporters and myself. I could see the mixed expressions in the crowd—some smirks from Debbie’s camp contrasted with the frowns of bitter disappointment from my friends. Despite my initial rush of frustration, I realized that running for the position had taught me invaluable lessons about courage, resilience, and the spirit of healthy competition. I managed a smile, knowing that this experience was more than just about winning—it was about growth and keeping on transcending oneself.
That’s when I noticed my teacher Mr. Laskey, who turned to me and smiled. “Congratulations!” he said, and I must have looked surprised because he proceeded, “For putting yourself out there. It takes guts to run for office and stand up for your belief, regardless of the outcome.” His words were soothing, and a sense of pride pulsed through my veins, replacing my initial discouragement. Indeed, life was brimming with these elections, in one form or another, and the thing that mattered most was to keep running for what you hold dear most, to keep participating and making your voice heard. Inspired by his encouragement, I came to the epiphany that even though I failed to win the title, I truly matured into a better-rounded individual.

However, by the end of the day, the votes were counted and Debbie was declared the winner. A friend who helped with the counting let me know I had lost by only twenty votes. The fact that I almost won made me even more depressed. All I'd been hearing for the past few weeks prepared me for the thrill of victory, not the depression of defeat. I wandered at campus aimlessly. To avoid my group or friends. I sat on the steps that led to the school library, just staring at the distance.
That's when I noticed my teacher Mr. Laskey, who turned to me and smiled. “Congratulations!" "No, I didn't win," I replied. Mr. Laskey disagreed. "Yes, you did. It took great courage to compete against such a strong opponent as Debbie in the election and you made it. You won the time and freedom to do whatever you want in the future." I bet Mr. Laskey knew what he was talking about. After that, I kept my job and took more courses at our state college while completing my high school classes. It was hard but I managed to fit everything in, which I never thought I could have accomplished before.
