(2023山东日照校际联考,D)
Hybrid cars, also called hybrid electric vehicles(HEVs), are cars that use more than one source of energy to run. They differ from the majority of cars on the road today in several ways. The main difference is that HEVs run on gasoline and electricity. An HEV has a battery powered motor as well as an engine that runs on gasoline.
A hybrid car is a bit more expensive to produce than a regular car even though its engine is smaller. The reason for the greater expense is that the engine is more complex. It has specialized mechanisms that allow it to operate using gasoline and electric power. It also contains a computer that works differently from those of regular cars. Even though it is more expensive to purchase, it costs less to own than gas powered cars. When an HEV is at a stoplight or going at a speed below 15 miles per hour, its special computer tells it to run just on electric power. When the computer senses that the car needs more power, it puts the gasoline engine back to work. The computer is constantly deciding whether the car will use electricity, gas, or a combination of the two.
Because the HEV has electric power to help it run, it uses much less fuel than most cars. They can get from 50 to 60 miles per gallon on average. The high mileage saves money for the car owner and conserves precious supplies of petroleum. Hybrid cars help the environment in other ways, too. For example, when the HEV is using electric power, it does not send out poisonous smoke that pollutes the air.
Despite the differences between hybrid cars and regular cars, HEVs offer the same feel as regular cars. They run in the same way and speed up and stop in the same way, too. HEVs, though, are generally smaller than gasoline powered cars. Their rounded, aerodynamic frame helps add to their fuel efficiency but unfortunately does not add to the amount of space inside the vehicle.
1.Which statement best explains the characteristics of an HEV
A.Safe and reliable. B.Expensive but long lasting.
C.Smaller engine, greater power. D.High price, low carbon.
2.The transformation between the gasoline and electricity in an HEV is operated by .
A.the engine B.the battery C.the computer D.the driver
3.For what purpose was the HEV invented
A.To save energy. B.To provide better service.
C.To lower the expense of purchase. D.To give the drivers a different feeling.
4.Where does the passage probably come from
A.A health report. B.A science magazine.
C.A vehicle advertisement. D.A travel journal.

Next, think up as many solutions to the problem as you can.__4__ Finally, review what has and hasn't worked, so you're equipped to deal with a situation next time.
And remember,if you have a tricky problem that you're unable to solve, then ask a trusted adult for help.__5__
A.You also learn what you're good at.
B.Here is how you can be more resourceful.

[2022·山东省德州市高考三模]
The whole class burst out laughing as Mohi rushed into the classroom. He was a strange sight. His half buttoned white shirt revealed a red striped pajama (睡衣) top underneath, and instead of white school shoes, he had on a pair of bright green sandals that were two sizes too big. The physics teacher's hand froze in the middle of writing a formula on the blackboard.
Mohi murmured,“Sorry, teacher,”and rushed to his seat. Mr. Tan glared at the rest of the students. The chuckles(咯咯笑) quickly died down. Mohi's classmates always looked forward to Mondays. Nine times out of ten, they would be entertained by Mohi's late arrival and his odd appearance which usually included inappropriate clothing. That day, it was the pajama top and green sandals.
Mohi lived just a street away from the school. He walked to school daily. Students passing by in buses would yell his name at the same time just to see him jump and stop suddenly. When he spotted the merry crowd in the bus, he would wave good naturedly. Although Mohi was likable, he was too lost in his own thoughts to make friends. His classmates found him amusing but they ignored him most of the time. Only Hamed, who sat next to Mohi, tried to be his friend.
The following Monday, Mohi did not turn up at school. His classmates were a little disappointed but quickly forgot about him. After school, Hamed decided to walk over to Mohi's house to check on him. As he approached the gate, he could hear violin music. “Mohi must be listening to music, since he had never played music at school.”Hamed thought. He called Mohi's name a few times but there was no response. The gate was not locked. Hamed let himself in. The music played on.
注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式作答。
As Hamed looked closely through a window, his eyes widened in surprise.

When Teacher's Day came around, Hamed convinced the class to let Mohi perform.

As Hamed looked closely through a window, his eyes widened in surprise. In the middle of the living room, Mohi was playing the violin. His eyes were closed in concentration as he drew the bow over the strings expertly. He played flawlessly so much so that it sounded like a recording. Then an idea hit Hamed. It was the tradition of the school to have a concert for the teachers. Every class had to contribute an item. It was a good chance for Mohi to show his talent and be accepted by his classmates. Thinking of that, Hamed left quietly.
When Teacher's Day came around, Hamed convinced the class to let Mohi perform. Short of ideas, the class agreed. On the day of the concert, both the teachers and students were surprised to see the school's clumsiest student walking on stage with a violin. When he started to play, the audience fell silent. Jaws dropped. As the last note ended, there was a moment of silence. Then the audience erupted into thunderous applause. Mohi became a sensation and had many fans in his final year of school. Mohi and Hamed became the best of friends eventually.整合集训(32)2024年高中英语高三每日精选精练40分钟

When Teacher's Day came around, Hamed convinced the class to let Mohi perform.
