For a scholar focusing on Australia's public diplomacy(外交活动), working as a recreational manager in China may never be part of his career path. But Bradley does have lots to say now about his special experience at a resort in the picturesque tropical coastal city of Sanya in Hainan Province in southern China.
The 33-year-old Australian is actually a student completing his PhD in international relations from Griffith University. He came to Beijing for cooperative research at Peking University less than two years ago. Such an academic life was just added color with a chance offered by the cultural exchanges project, “I'm in China”.
“What I liked most about the experience was that it was something completely different that you would never be able to do as a regular tourist,” Bradley said in an interview. Bradley was chosen to work as a recreational manager for a Chinese wedding.
“The film crew took them to many amazing sites and the staff at the resort taught them a lot about how to incorporate modern Chinese features while still keeping traditional customs,” Bradley said.
“I would have to say two things stick out as the most memorable: the helicopter ride and talking with the staff at the hotel about how they organize weddings here in China,” he said.
That was the first time that Bradley had been in a helicopter, and he was too absorbed in the “stunning” view of the beautiful coastline.
“I think it is so important to show other Australians the different landscapes China offers. I think so many Australians, when they think about China, imagine the historical sites of Beijing and the exciting things to see in Shanghai but have no idea about other beautiful places, like Sanya or many other places people have been taken to in this TV series,” Bradley said.
“I'm in China” is a program sponsored by China Intercontinental Communication Centre and other institutions under the guidance of China's State Council Information Office. It invites foreign natives worldwide to experience unique jobs and participate in activities that one can find nowhere else except in China. More than 10,000 photos and articles were submitted from around the globe by over 600 applicants.

The Chinese version of TikTok—Douyin is introducing a “teenage mode” that limits the amount of time children under the age of 14 spend on the short-form video app to 40 minutes a day.
“The measure will apply to all Douyin users under the age of 14 who have registered for the app with their real names,” Beijing-based ByteDance announced in a statement.
“Douyin is also unavailable to those users between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.,” the owner of Douyin added.
The company also urged parents to help their children register with real names, or otherwise manually enable the “teenage mode”. ByteDance did not immediately respond to the question from CNN Business about how it might enforce the policy on those who don't use their real names.
The app also said it would introduce new content ranging from science experiments and museums to an art gallery exhibition and natural scenery to get ahead of potential regulation, analysts at Citigroup Global Markets wrote in a Monday research note. They suggested that the decision could push other Internet platforms with short video content to look at implementing similar restrictions.
“Self-assessment and voluntary implementation of minor-protection measures by more platforms could help suggest platforms be more socially responsible and potentially reassure parents and regulators,” they added.
Douyin had at least 490 million users in November 2020, according to the media research firm iiMedia Research.
Chinese regulators have already started pressuring tech companies to curb the amount of time minors spend on their services.
In June, China revised its “minor protection law”, which requires Internet service providers including social media apps to “set up corresponding functions such as time management, content restriction and consumption limits for minors”.
Douyin's rival, Kuaishou, which is backed by Tencent, introduced a similar setting for minors in 2019.
China's pressure on tech companies is part of sweeping new regulations on businesses focused on the next generation, from a heavy crackdown on private tutoring to rules for online gaming.
Last month, the country barred online gamers under the age of 18 from playing on weekdays and limited their playtime to just three hours at most on weekends.

In all the world's cultures, people sing, play instruments, and celebrate with music. It plays such an important role in our lives that all fields focus on its study, including one looking at the biology of music. Experts are finding that because of the way our brains process music, learning to play an instrument or just listening to music can have a wide range of benefits.
Music education has received a lot of attention. Learning to play an instrument can help children improve math, science, and language skills. One study in Canada tracked children's IQ scores for nine months, discovering that children who studied music had the biggest test score improvements. The secret may lie in the way reading music and playing notes use several areas of the brain, thus increasing our ability to learn school subjects. For example, reading notes improves spatial(空间的) reasoning skills, which are helpful in solving math problems like fraction(分数) problems.
Music is also used for medical purposes, such as the treatment of diseases which affect memory. The secret lies in the way the brain processes music. One area near the forehead, the medial prefrontal cortex, connects music with memories stored in two other areas: the amygdala and hippocampus. That's why an old song can remind you of something that happened years ago. For patients suffering from diseases like Alzheimer's, listening to music can help unlock buried memories.
With the evidence of music's benefits pouring in, it's no wonder some countries make music study a part of their education systems. People are recognizing that music is more than just a form of entertainment. It's also great for the brain.
32.Why do people study music
A.Because music can be used for medical treatment.
B.Because our brains can process music in different ways.

The iPod Generation
Today it is common to see people who walk about with colored wires hanging from their ears wherever they go. They move about in their personal bubbles, sometimes unaware of what's happening around them. They walk around in their own space, with their personal “digital(数码的) noise reduction systems”. 36 So are you one of them
For me, walking around in my own personal bubble is perfect. 37 What's even better, wearing earphones seems to give a signal to people which says, “I'm not available for chatting at the moment.”
Suppose you're at work and about to make a breakthrough, but a colleague suddenly turns up. At this exact moment, the slightest disturbance would interrupt your work. 38 Once again, those wires hanging from your ears would be sure to give that “Go away!” signal.
39 It's probably part of the growing-up stage when they just want to ignore their whole family. While their mothers give them lectures about what they should do, they say, “Yes, Mum.” Problem solved.
Pretty soon, not only will we have pretty colored wires hanging from our ears, but also our brains will be directly plugged into some new high-tech instrument. We'll be in a virtual(虚拟的) world, communicating with everyone else, or choosing not to, as we like. 40 And they are changing our social habits along the way.
A.Outside life is shut out.
B.Our high-tech tools are changing quickly.
C.I also have wires hanging from my ears.
D.In the home, teenagers love these wires.
E.I don't have to deal with the noise from the environment.
F.After all, I am listening to my favourite music and would rather not be disturbed.
G.Listening to music through earphones is the perfect way to ignore such interruptions.

第二节(满分25分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Peter woke up early in the morning. He went downstairs in a hurry and started to have his breakfast as quickly as possible.
“Why are you in such a hurry, early bird ” Mum asked him. “We will have an English spelling test today, Mum,” Peter said. “Mr. White promised to offer prizes to those who get a score of 100. I've been studying the word list since last week. Although the words are difficult, I am well prepared for them.”
Peter reviewed the spelling of each word once more carefully when Dad drove him to school. At last, it was time for the students to have a test. “Responsibility,” Mr. White started. Peter wrote it on his test paper quickly and confidently.
“The second word: contribution,” Mr. White said.
“So easy,” Peter thought. He quickly wrote the word down.
Thirty words later, the test papers were collected by Mr. White. “I am to mark your papers,” he told the class. After marking the test papers, Mr. White said, “Three of you will win a prize today for excellent test scores. Peter, David and Mary get full marks on the spelling test!”
Mr. White praised them. Meanwhile, he gave the three students each a dictionary. Peter's was an English-Chinese dictionary—the one he liked best. Peter was so excited that he held it high when his classmates cheered. “This is my happiest moment,” Peter thought.
After Mr. White gave the test paper back, Peter had a look at the words, feeling proud of his spelling. All of a sudden, the word “contribusion” confused him. It didn't seem right. Peter began to check it after taking out the word list. “C-O-N-T-R-I-B-U-T-I-O-N,” he whispered. He spelled it wrong.
“What am I to do ” Peter said to himself. “I expect my classmates to think I'm a master of spelling. If I tell Mr. White one of my words is wrong, I'll have to give my prize back, or I will become an example of telling a lie.”
Staring at the full marks written on his test paper, Peter was lost in thought. After a while, he remembered a lesson Mum used to teach him, “We ought to be an honest person.”
注意:续写词数应为150个左右。
  Slowly,Peter raised his hand.

  Peter looked around.

第四部分 写作
第一节
One possible version:
Dear Jim,
Knowing you want to know which film is worth seeing, I'd like to recommend Roman Holiday to you.
The film, directed by William Wyler, is about the love story between Princess Anne and American journalist Joe. The interesting story and the breathtaking scenery of Rome attract my attention. Besides, Hepburn starred opposite Gregory Peck in the film, who acted skillfully. However, the plot is a little unreasonable. All things considered, though, it must be one of the most romantic films.
I highly recommend this film to you. Looking forward to your review after watching the film.
Yours,
Li Hua

Slowly,Peter raised his hand. “Mr. White, I didn't get full marks on the test. I made a mistake.” He stood up and handed his teacher the dictionary he liked best and his test paper. “I spelled contribution with ‘s-i’ instead of ‘t-i’.” Peter could feel his classmates looking at him with surprise as he walked back to his desk. Mr. White held up Peter's test paper. “Class,” he said, “Peter did something even more important than spelling every word correctly on a test.” Mr. White smiled at Peter, “He taught us a lesson on being honest.”
Peter looked around. He found many of his classmates were smiling at him. “Peter, I want you to have this dictionary because you set a good example for all of us,” Mr. White said. Peter took the dictionary from his teacher and expressed his thanks to Mr. White. Meanwhile, he couldn't wait to show it to Mum and tell her one of his best days ever.
