A.Linking verb be
A linking verb is a verb that connects a subject with the adjective or noun that describes it.
We use adjectives after the linking verb be(am/is/are/was/were) to say what somebody or something is like
Eg: I am a good daughter. Our family lives are different. Not only I but also my mother is proud of my success . 不仅我,而且我的妈妈都为我的成功感到自豪。 Either you or I am good students.要么你是好学生,要么我是好学生。 Neither you nor I am good students.你和我都不是好学生。 4)就远原则:as well as Your wife as well as you is friendly to me.你妻子和你对我都很友好。 总结: 连系动词1:Be动词:am ,is,are,was。were, being,been,be 注意: there be either......or表示两者中有一个,要么…要么 neither......nor 两者都不 就近原则(连接两个主语时) not only ....but also 注意: 1)就远原则: 就是离谓语动词更远的主语保持一致, 2)就近原则:就是离谓语动词更近的主语保持一致,

B.Sense Verbs
You look/seem tired. It sometimes feels crowded in our little flat. The dinner smells good but tastes strange . 总结: 连系动词2:感官动词: look=seem,appear看起来,似乎,好像 sound(听起来), smell(闻起来), taste(尝起来), feel(摸起来,感觉) 注意: 感官动词做系动词时不同于系动词be,它们在变疑问句或否定句时不能简单地提到主语之前或加not,而是要通过助动词do/does/ did等来帮助实现。 Eg:Does it smell nice 它闻起来很好吗?

C.Other linking verbs
Eg:After the company was bought,he remained the manager. Eg:We'll remain friends forever. Eg:Please keep quiet. Eg:If you want to stay healthy, you must exercise. 总结: 连系动词3: 表示’保持类的词’:keep,stay,remain“仍然是;保持不变“ 拓展: remain 此处用作连系动词,意为“仍然是;保持不变” ,其后可接名词(短语)、形容词或介词短语等作表语。 It remained a secret.这仍然是个秘密。 We should remain modest. 我们应该保持谦虚。 He had to remain in hospital until he was better.他不得不一直住院直到身体好些。 ①remain 还可用作不及物动词,意为“剩余; 遗留”,既不用于进行时态,也不用于被动语态。 After the fire,very little of his house remained .大火之后,他的房子所剩无几。 ②remain作不及物动词时,还可意为“仍需去做(或说、处理)”,后接动词不定式的被动形式。 Much remains to be done.还有很多事要去做。 总结: 连系动词4: 表示’变化类的词’:become, get, grow, go, turn“变得/变成” 1) get常接天气的变化 The weather is getting warm now. 2) turn意义上侧重于”变得与以前完全不同”.后面多接表示颜色的形容词作表语 Her face turns red. 3) go多表示 从好的状态变为坏的状态,其后的表语多为mad(疯的),blind,bad等词. The meat has gone bad in such hot weather. 4) become通常用来表示变化过程已经完成,用法比较正式。翻译成“变成” He becomes famous. 5)grow侧于“逐渐变成某种状态”,其后可接表示人或物的特征的形容词。 My younger brother is growing tall.
