Today many students have much trouble when they are at school. They are not confident (自信), independent(独立) and patient. As for independence, teachers should help their students to know how to be independent when they are alone at school or outside. Minoru Yamasaki was a well-known American architect. Minoru went to college to study architecture. Every summer he worked in a fish factory to help pay for college. Often he worked from four o' clock in the morning till midnight and slept in a room with 100 other men .
Yamasaki sometimes dreamed about his work. Once he woke up at three o'clock in the morning. He remembered a building was in his dream. He got up and started to draw immediately.
Yamasaki was different from other architects. His buildings usually make people feel peaceful and happy. Many of his designs have pools of water, flowers, and windows on the roof to let in light. He wanted to give people a place away from the busy ways of modern life.
Yamasaki worked for several companies. But his success began when he started his own company. In 1956, he won the architect's First Honor Award for his design of an airport in St. Louis, Missouri. In 1962, he designed the World Trade Centre in New York.
Yamasaki had strong opinions(主见)about his buildings. They had to be built his way. He refused (拒绝)to change the design of his buildings, even if he lost a job.

People are so busy these days that many people have no time to cook. This becomes a problem, because most families love home cooking! The food tastes good and warm, and a family meal brings everyone together. In some families, meals are often the only times everyone sees one another at the same time.
Another reason people enjoy home cooking is that it is often a way of showing love. Parents who make some cookies are not just satisfying children’s sweet teeth. She or he is sending a message. The message says, ‘I care about you enough to spend an hour making cookies that you will eat up in 15 minutes if I let you.’
There is also something about the smell of home cooking. People of all ages like the smell of home cooking. It makes most of us feel happy—even if we are the ones doing the cooking!

My Favorite City
My favorite city is Paris, France. It's known for its beautiful architecture like the Eiffel Tower and Notre-Dame Cathedral, which are not only stunning but also historically significant. Another reason I love Paris is its amazing food scene, from delicious French pastries to high-end restaurants. More than just a place, Paris is a feeling that draws me back time and again. Thus, I love this city.
