二. 知识点讲解
1. die是不及物动词,不能用于被 ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )动语态。如果要与表示一段时间的状语连用,需使用其形容词形式dead。die可以用于进行时态,表示“即将死去,奄奄一息”,其现在分词形式为dying。death为名词形式,意为“死亡”。
①The man died two years ago.==The man has been dead for two years.
②辨析die from与 die of
die from “由于……而死”,多指死于外因,后常接灾害,衰弱,负伤等 That soldier died from the deadly wound.那个士兵死于致命伤。
die of 因(患)……而死,多指死于内因,后常接年老,疾病,情感等 The worker died of an illness.那个工人死于一种疾病。
辨析sick与ill
sick sick既可以作表语又可以作定语,如表示“病人”可以说a sick man或the sick. sick有“恶心的,厌倦的”意思 The smell makes me sick.这气味使我感到恶心。
ill ill表示“生病的,有病的”。一般作表语,不能作定语。ill作定语修饰名词时是“坏的,邪恶的”意思 He is an ill man.他是一个邪恶的人。
3 . invent(v.发明) invention(n.发明,创造) inventor(n.发明家)
4. few,little有异同;few可数,little不可数,其前有“a”表肯定,其前无“a”表否定。

both…and… ……和……两者都 连接两个名词或代词作主语时,谓语动词用复数
neither…nor… 既不……也不…… 连接两个名词或代词作主语时,谓语动词遵循“就近原则”
either…or… 或者……或者……

(一)原因状语从句
原因状语从句一般由because(因为),since(既然),as(由于),now that(既然,因为)等连词引导
1、because, since, as, for和now that引导原因状语从句
(1)because
表示直接的原因或理由,表示原因的语气最强,常表示必然的因果关系。回答以why引起的特殊疑问句 ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com" \o "欢迎登陆21世纪教育网" \t "_blank ),只能用because。
Jane wore a raincoat because it was raining.因为天下雨,所以詹穿着雨衣。
He is absent today because he is ill.他今天缺课,因为他病了。
(2)since
表示对方已经知晓、无须加以说明的原因或事实,语气比because稍弱。
I'll do it for you since you are busy.既然你忙,我来替你做吧。
Since you insist, I'll go.既然你坚持 ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com" \o "欢迎登陆21世纪教育网" \t "_blank ),那我就去。

(3)as
表示的往往是十分明显的原因,听者或读者已经知道或能看得出来,语气较弱,只附带说明,比较口语化,语气比since弱。

(4)for
for是并列连词,它引导的分句不表示 ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )直接的原因,而是用来附带解释或说明前面一句的情况。for引导的分句常位于第一分句之后,它们之间用逗号隔开。

意为“既然”,与since同义,但更突出事实本身。

(二)目的状语从句
1、that,so that,in order that引导目的状语从句
目的状语从句由that,so that,in order that等引导。从句中的谓语动词前常有情态动词 ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com" \o "欢迎登陆21世纪教育网" \t "_blank )may ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com" \o "欢迎登陆21世纪教育网" \t "_blank )、might、can、could、will, would等。
John shut everybod ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )y out of the kitchen so that he could prepare his grand surprise for the party. 约翰把其他人关在厨房外,目的是能够为晚会烹饪出人意料的东西。

辨析:in order that引导的 ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )状语从句可以放在句首、与句尾,而so that 引导的只能放在句尾;如果从句主语与主句主语一致都可转换成不定式。

(三)结果状语从句
1 so、so that,so…that, such…that引导结果状语从句
So difficult did ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com ) I feel it to live in an English-speaking country that I determined to learn English well.我感到在讲英语的国家里生活太难了,因此我决定学好英语。
He worked hard so that he passed the exam. 他学习很努力,结果通过了考试。

2、so…that与such…that的区别
这两种结构都可引导结果状语从句。so是副词,后接形容词或副词;such是形容词,后接名词。
(1)单数名词
在so...that与such...that ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )中间出现的是单数名词,且该名词前有形容词修饰时,这两种结构可互换,但要注意它们的词序不同:such+ a/an+形容词十名词=so+形容词+a/an+名词。
She is such a good teacher that all of us love her.= She is so good a teacher that all of us love her.她是一位很好的老师 ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com" \o "欢迎登陆21世纪教育网" \t "_blank ),我们都敬爱她。
(2)不可数名词或复数可数名词
如果被修饰的是不可数名词或复数可数名词时,一般须用such...that。
He made such rapid pr ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )ogress that before long he began to write articles in English.他进步很快,不久就开始用英语写文章。(不可数名词)
They are such interest ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )ing books that we all want to read them.这些书是那么有趣以致我们都想读一读。(复数可数名词)
(3)名词前有many,much,little,few修饰时
如果不可数名词或复数可数名词前有many,much,little,few修饰时,则用so…that。
I've had so man ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )y falls that I'm black and blue all over.我摔了好多次跤,周身青一块紫一块的。(复数可数名词)
George had so little m ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )oney that he had to get a job.乔治没有钱,所以他不得不找工作干。(不可数名词)
They are such ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com ) little children that they can't do anything.他们是小孩,什么事情都干不了。
巧记so和such引导结果状语从句
名前such,形、副so,多多少少也用so。little属特殊,“小”用such,“少”用so。
3、如何判断so that ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )引导的目的状语从句与结果状语从句(1)当表达的含义是“为了”、“以便”时,为目的状语从句;当表达的是“以至于”、“因此”含义时,为结果状语从句。

(2)当从句的谓语动词有情态动词can, could, may, might等时,是目的状语从句;当从句里没有情态动词,且谓语动词是一般现在时(过去时)、现在完成时 ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com" \o "欢迎登陆21世纪教育网" \t "_blank )等时态时,是结果状语从句。

(3)当从句之前的so that可用in order that代替时,是目的状语从句;反之,是结果状语从句。

(4)当so that之前有逗号时,是结果状语从句;反之,是目的状语从句

enough此次作副词,意为“足够地,充足 ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )地,充分地”,只能放在所修饰的形容词或副词之后。常用于“be(not)+形容词+enough to do sth.”结构中
拓展:①enough作形容词,意为“足够的,充足的”,通常置于名词前作定语,有时也可置于名词后。
例如:She doesn’t have e ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )nough time / time enough to finish the work. (她没有足够的时间去完成这项工作。)
②be not+形容词+enough to do sth.可与too…to…和so…that…互换
She is not old euough to go to school.(她太小,还不能去上学。)

whenever== no matter when (无论何时) whoever== no matter who(无论谁)
3. 辨析else与other
else 副词 置于不定代词或疑问词之后 What else can you see in the picture
other 形容词 置于名词前 What other things can you see in the picture
4. as well as意为“除了 ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )……之外(还),不仅……而且……”常用于连接两个并列的成分,它强调的是前一项,后一项只是顺便提及。因此A as well as B结构作主语时,谓语动词要与A的人称和数保持一致。注意:not only A but also B结构作主语时,谓语动词要与B保持一致,即采取“就近原则”。
例如:(不仅你对我很友好,你的妻子也对我很友好。)
Your wife as well as you is very friendly to me .
== Not only you but also your wife is very friendly to me .
拓展:as well as也可用来表示同级比较,意为“和……一样好”; as well的意思是“又;也”,但它常位于句末。
You look as well as you did ten years ago.
He plays the guitar as well as you .
I am going to London and my sister is going as well.
5. 1).辨析join in,join, take part in
join in 后接的宾语一般是表示竞赛、娱乐、游戏等活动的名词或动词的ing形式。
join 指参加到某个人群中去,从而成为其中一员
take part in 指参加,参与某事或活动,并在其中发挥积极作用
attend 指“出席(会议,婚礼);上(课)”
