And then I 6 grandpa, who is asleep in a rocking chair, snoring (打鼾) like thunder. Can you believe it On his only grandson’s birthday!
“ 7 , sleepyhead!” I call out. But more snores followed. An angry storm is coming up inside me.
“Oh, it’s Parker’s 8 !” Grandma calls out to grandpa. He coughs. It seems to be ages for him to get to his feet and say, “boy, come here.” But I don’t 9 .
“You and I,” says Grandpa, rising slowly, “are going on a walk.”
“All right.” I know what he’s about to say: respect the elders, blah blah blah. But to my 10 , he says in a soft voice, “your parents are always very 11 , aren’t they ”
“Hold my arms and help me into that chair.” For a second, I stood still. 12 when I see his legs shaking as he bends his knees, I rush over to hold his arms. I set him down nice and slow. “ 13 ,” he says. He’s breathing hard, like he’s just climbed a mountain.
I sit down next to him. He covers my hand with his warm one. “Tell 14 all about the video game you
like,” he says. “Then I’ll tell you some stories of my own. And we’ll both listen to each other and ask good questions. Deal ”
I 15 in disbelief. And for some strange reason, it feels more like my birthday than ever.

Largely cut off from email,Twitter and my favorite newspaper websites,I had few ways to connect to the world except for the radio and how much radio can one listen to really I had no 7 but to do what I had planned to all along: read books.
This experience has had a 8 ending. With determination and the strong support of my wife,I won in my vacation struggle 9 the Internet. I 10 realized that it was I,not the iPad, that was the problem.
I knew I had won when 11 passed a Starbucks and my wife asked if I wanted to stop to use the Wi-Fi. “I don't need it,” I said. 12 ,as we return to post-vacation life,a harder test begins: Can I 13 when I'm back at work And I don't plan to 14 my convenience completely. But I hope to resist the temptation(诱惑)to check my email every five minutes, which often leads to following my Twitter replies.
A vacation is supposed to help you reset your 15 to become more productive(高效的).Here I hope this one worked.

When answering her questions about what I had learned in my travels, I told Nicole that travel had greatly improved my ability to “ 4 ” people and situations.

Dear Not an Artist,
Glad to hear from you. I know exactly how you feel when seeing a better drawing from your friend! I’m surely not the best 1 in the world, but I’ve always loved making pictures. That’s why I got so 2 about Rafael’s cookie-label (标签) idea.
Rafael is my father’s friend who owns a cookie shop. One day he happened to stop by when my friend and I were 3 with sidewalk chalk in front of our house.
“Wow! Amazing pictures!” he said, trying not to step on them 4 he walked toward the door. “I really love your 5 drawings! Would you be up for making some pictures that I can use 6 the label ” He patted us, “You needn’t 7 making everything perfect, just have fun.” Then he left.
And away we drew! We both enjoyed the way we were drawing. 8 , we stopped and looked at each other’s work. But it was seriously 9 . One minute, I liked my drawing. And the next minute, I felt like the 10 artist ever after comparing our works.
Rafael returned. With a smile on his face, he said, “I truly 11 your drawings. Each style is special. And I think they could work together in a fun and eye-catching way. That will be the front.” I could see what Rafael 12 . Each piece was different and amazing in its own way—even mine.
So, dear Not an Artist, I know it can feel disappointing when you start comparing 13 with other people. But please try not to 14 ! There’s no right or wrong way to make art. And since everybody has different styles and tastes, nobody has to agree about what makes a piece of 15 good. Sometimes your art will turn out great, and other times it won’t be your best, and that’s OK. The coolest thing about making art is that it’s fun!
Ciao for now, Arizona

Grandpa Charlie liked wearing his red hat and taking a walk with Grandson Tyler. He enjoyed 1 at people on the street. Day by day, people smiled and waved back when they saw the red hat.

“It’s wet. Just 6 the hat!” Henry said hopelessly.
