-ing and -ed as complement
1 英语补语(Complement)的作用对象是主语和宾语,具有鲜明的定语性描写或限制功能,在句法上不可或缺,是起补充说明作用的成分。最常见的是宾语补足语。
2 名词、动名词、形容词、副词、不定式、现在分词、过去分词都可以在句子中做补语。

1 In sentence (a), who is swimming at night
“A woman” is swimming at night.

3 Why does the author choose to use different forms of verbs in the two sentences
In sentence (a), a woman is swimming. In other words, the woman does the action of swimming. So the author uses -ing. But in sentence (b), people are frightened. As a result, passive voice is used. So the author uses -ed.

1 位于感官动词后,如see, watch, hear, feel, find, notice, observe, listen to, look at等

过去分词作宾语补足语说明宾语的性质或状态。
1 用于表示某种状态的动词keep, leave等的宾语后面
1 客人们没有动大部分的菜,因为它们尝起来不好吃。
2 不要让窗户像这样一直破着。
The guests left most of the dishes untounched because they didn’t taste delicious
Don’t leave the window broken.

2 “have/get+宾语+过去分词”,表示“使某事被做”
3 在“make +宾语+过去分词” 结构中分词表示结果。
他昨天剪头发了。
她提高了嗓门以便让别人听到她说话。

5 用在want, wish, expect, order等表示“希望、愿望、命令”的动词后。

三,分词与宾语之间的逻辑关系
1 根据宾语与宾补之间的关系来确定用哪种非谓语形式。
2 感官动词hear, see, notice, feel 等既可以接分词也可以接省略to的动词不定式作宾语。
主动关系--- 现在分词
被动关系--- 过去分词
现在分词--- 主动、进行的动作
过去分词--- 被动、完成的动作
动词不定式--- 动作的全过程

Well, SNNR was established in 2000 and is the
highest and second largest nature reserve in China. Here, you can see dramatic landscapes. They change from mountains to grasslands, forests to rivers. Most improtantly, it contains the headwaters of the Yellow River, the Changjiang River and the Lancang River.
