41. Bikes are popular in the Dutch(荷兰). In fact, nearly half of all travel in the Dutch is by bike. Now, one Dutch bike designer(设计师), Thomas, has taken the country's interest in bikes by making a school bus bike.
The big bike has eight sets of pedals(踏板) for kids, a driver seat for an adult, and three other seats, comfortably letting little kids for their trip to and from school. The bike even has a motor, which can help with high hills or at times when few kids on it.
So far, Thomas tells Fast Company, he's sold 25 school-bikes, at a price of $ 25, 000 each — less than it would cost to buy a traditional school bus with the same number of seats. Along with the traditional color, the bikes are colored yellow so that they can be seen easily.
Thomas says he's sold school bus bikes to neighboring countries such as Belgium, England and Germany, but so far, the school bus bike hasn't been sold in the United States. If the U. S. agrees to buy this kind of school bus bike, it could do a lot of good to improve exercise for a young age and help them keep healthy.
(1) How do people in the Dutch usually go to work (no more than 2 words) ______
(2) How many seats does the school bus bike have (no more than 1 word) ______
(3) Why are the school buses yellow in the Dutch (no more 6 words) ______
(4) Which country hasn't bought a school bus bike (no more than 3 words) ______
(5) If the U.S. agrees to buy this kind of school bus bike, it can help people (no more 2 words) ______.
42. Many of the world's successful people were once failures. Here are the stories of a few of them.
Michael Jordan (born 1963) is one of the greatest basketball players of all time. However, he himself admits that it hasn't been easy. In a famous advertisement for Nike, he says, "I have missed more than 9, 000 shots in my career. I have lost almost 300 games. On 26 occasions I have been entrusted (委托)to take the game winning shot, and I missed. I have failed over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed. "
Albert Einstein (1879-1955) won the Nobel Prize in physics in 1921. However, he wasn't always considered a "genius". He didn't speak until he was four, and couldn't read until he was seven. His teachers and parents thought he was slow, and he was expelled (开除)from school. He later famously said, "Success is failure in progress"
Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865) was one of America's greatest leaders, taking the country through the Civil War (美国南北战争). However, his life was never easy. He started numerous business that failed, he went bankrupt (破产)twice and was defeated in 26 campaigns (竞选)for public office. He later said, "My great concern is not whether you have failed, but whether you are content with your failure. "
J. K. Rowling (born 1965) is the author of the hugely successful Harry Potter books, and one of the richest women in the world. But before publishing the books, she was penniless, depressed and trying to raise a child on her own. In a speech at Harvard in 2008, she said, "I had failed so greatly. After a short-lived marriage, I was jobless, a lone parent, and as poor as it is possible to be in modern Britain, without being homeless. The fears that my parents had had for me, and that I had had for myself, had both come to pass, and by every usual standard, I was the biggest failure I knew. "
So you see, just keep going!
(1) How many times has Michael Jordan missed the game winning shot
(2) What happened to Albert Einstein in 1921
(3) Which did Abraham Lincoln care more about, whether he failed or how to face with his failure
(4) J.K. Rowling is one of the richest women in Britain, isn't she
(5) What was J. K. Rowling's life like before Harry Potter Books were published
(6) What do you think of failure How do you overcome failure in your life (Please give an example to explain)
43. Do the British really get together every afternoon at 4 to sit and drink several cups of tea Ask any of my German students and they will tell you 'YES'!
I'm sorry to disappoint, but it's simply not true. We drink over 150 million cups of tea a day in Britain, but there is no special time for the nation's favorite drink. British people will drink tea all day whether morning, noon or night.
Tea is widely used as a name for the evening meal. This is more common in Scotland and the north of England but you can hear it all over the country. Usually it is the main meal of the day, eaten between 5 and 7. So, teatime refers to the meal and not the drink. In the south, the evening meal is often called dinner, while dinner in the north is the midday meal. Confused Many heated debates can happen between southerners and northerners about the right name, but in general:
North: Breakfast-Dinner-Teatime
South: Breakfast-Lunch-Dinner
What about tea breaks Surely this must be a special time for tea Wrong again, I'm afraid. Tea breaks are simply an opportunity to have a rest from work for around 10minutes. In this time you can drink whatever you like. This is usually with a small snack, like biscuits for dunking (浸泡). The best time for a tea break is mid-morning around 11or mid-afternoon around 3.
But what about tea rooms Can I drink tea there Yes! A tea room is the perfect place to go with friends and family to enjoy tea, cakes, sandwiches and pastries. This is known as afternoon tea and is usually served for special occasions (场合) such as a birthday or engagement (订婚) party. In Devon and Cornwall, afternoon tea is served with scones and locally made clotted cream and strawberry jam—we call this a cream tea.
Teatime, tea breaks, afternoon tea, cream tea …, how could you possibly get confused
(1) How many cups of tea do British people drink a day
(2) What does teatime refer to
(3) When is the best time for a tea break
(4) Where would British people like to enjoy tea with friends
(5) What does the passage mainly tell us about?

Put 2 February in your diary! It is World Wetlands Day! It marks the date that the Convention(公约) on Wetlands was signed(签署)in 1971.This special day was first celebrated in 1997 and it is celebrated every year.
The celebration is a call for action. It is a way to show people how important and useful the wetlands are for people. On World Wetlands Day, people around the world take part in many wetlands activities. People take trips to the local wetlands. There are talks about how important the wetlands are. People get together to clean up their local wetlands Children draw pictures to advertise the day. People also compete in boat races.
The World Wetlands Day is important! If there are no wetlands, there will be no water for anyone in the future. Wetlands help protect nature and resources like fresh water. Already, more than 10000 million people in the world do not have fresh water.
Many people do not know how important the wetlands are. They can understand why an elephant or a tiger is important because they are big beautiful animals. It is much harder for them to understand how important the animals in the wetlands are. These small animals, such as frogs and snails, play a very important part in keeping the balance of nature.
All plants and animals are part of the food chain(链).If the small wetlands animals die, some animals in the food chain will have nothing to eat. They will also die. People need the wetlands to keep the balance of nature in the world. If we do not protect nature today,it will be gone tomorrow.

(Xinhua News) What kind of vehicle will you choose when traveling between provinces Many people may like traveling by train because it's safer and cheaper. Now the high-speed railways have connected eastern China as well as the south and the north.
A new high-speed railway opened on Sept. 10th, 2016. It connects Zhengzhou in Henan Province with Xuzhou in Jiangsu Province. With this railway, China's high-speed railways are over 20,000 kilometers long. It is the world's longest and makes up 60 percent of the world's total high-speed railway lines.
Besides length, China also does better in speed. China is the only country with trains running at 350 kilometres an hour, such as the Beijing-Tianjin and Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railways.
With these surprising numbers, it is easy to forget that China wasn't the first in the high-speed rail game. Japan started 50 years ago, while Germany did 20 years ago. China only began to build its high-speed railways 14 years ago.
China's high-speed railways are developing fast now. Behind it, there is the country's growing need for transportation. According to Xinhua News, China's high-speed trains gave 961 million trips to people last year.
“The high-speed railways not only bridge the distance, but connect people, information and goods.” said Huang Xin, an official from the China Railway Corp.
Yet, China's building of high-speed railways is still going on. China plans to have 38,000 kilometres of high-speed railway by 2025.

46. Water Bottles: Handy or Harmful In recent years, more and more people have come to realize the bad influence plastic water bottles have on the environment. However, their use is still on the increase.
Americans buy nearly 100 billion bottles of water every year. Stack(堆叠) those up, and you could build a tower that reaches all the way from the Earth to the Moon—60 times! Why do we love bottled water so much It's easy—you just take it and go, and throw away the bottle when you're done. And it is healthy, compared with sugary sodas and sports drinks. But there's more to the story.
The truth is, bottled water often isn't any better than the water many people can get from a tap. In fact, more than half of all bottled water is tap water. This includes popular brands like Aquafina and Dasani, which sell tap water that has been run through a filter(过滤器).
And chances are that the water from your tap has been tested more carefully than bottled water. Most cities check tap water for dangerous germs(细菌) and chemicals. The rules for bottled water are less strict.
Perhaps the biggest problem with water bottles lies in the containers themselves. They create huge amounts of litter. Remember those 100 billion bottles we use every year Less than one﹣third of them get recycled. The rest go into landfills(垃圾填埋场), where they can take hundreds of years to break down. Or they are left behind as litter on our streets and in our parks. Some end up in oceans, where sea animals can eat parts of them and get sick or die.
But not everyone can just avoid bottled water. Around the world, more than 2 billion people only have access to water that contains harmful germs or chemicals. If they were to drink this water, they could get very sick. They could even die. They don't drink bottled water because it's easy. They drink it because they need it.
Some bottled water has fluoride(氟化物), which protects your teeth. If your tap water doesn't have fluoride, bottled water could be a healthy choice for you. Also, if there were no bottled water, you might drink a soda or a sports drink. Sugary drinks like these are a big part of why so many Americans are overweight.

(2) According to the article, what kind of water do Aquafina and Dasani offer?___________________
(3) Why is tap water sometimes even better than bottled water?___________________
