范文
A few weeks later, I spoke to my teacher after class. She was the one person I trusted and knew would understand. Tears welled up in my eyes as I explained the situation. She listened carefully, her expression growing increasingly serious. “You’ve been brave, David,” she said softly. “But this isn’t something you should have to handle alone.” She promised to talk to the principal and find a way to stop the bullying. I felt a sense of relief, knowing that someone was finally going to take action.
One day, my teacher finally said, “David, I think it’s time to get the principal involved.” She had spoken to him and explained the situation. He agreed that something needed to be done. The next day, the principal called a meeting with me, my friend, and the bullies. He spoke firmly about the importance of respect and kindness in our school. He made it clear that bullying was unacceptable and would not be tolerated. The bullies were given a severe warning and were told that if it happened again, there would be consequences. After the meeting, I felt a weight lifted from my shoulders. I knew that things would be different now. The bullies stopped their antics, and my friend and I were finally able to enjoy our school days without fear or intimidation.2024年高考考前押题密卷(新高考I卷02)

Emest Owusu was 13 in 1980 when he was given the opportunity to appear in the audience of a BBC show, and ask Thatcher how she felt about being called the Iron Lady. This encounter re-emerged in a BBC’s programme recently.
At the time of their meeting, Owusu was on free school meals, living on a public estate in Brixton, south London, where he and his sister were being raised by their mother Rose, a struggling hairdresser.
Now 57, Owusu looks remarkably similar even with a greying beard. But his life has been transformed. The father of three is a human resources director, and the first black captain of the Addington golf club in its 110-year history. As a black guy, it is about breaking the glass ceiling. Speaking in its clubhouse, Owusu describes his rise in social status (地位) as a “Thatcherite Journey”. And he says it began by asking the woman herself. “To this day it still has an impact. My confidence changed from that sliding-door moment. Something about her connected with me.”
Thatcher told Owusu she enjoyed being called the Iron Lady. “I think it’s rather a praise, don’t you ” she said, “Because so often people have said to me if you’re in your job you’ve got to be soft and warm and human, but you’ve got to have a touch of steel.” Owusu recalls the moment, “I just remember her eye contact. She was answering me, not the camera. She welcomed the question saying you’ve got to be firm in this world. And that stuck with me.”
After the show was broadcast, Owusu said he became “a little hero in Brixton for a good three months”. Owusu added, “It all gave me extra confidence. Doors might not have opened so quickly. It was one of those key moments to make you do things maybe you wouldn’t otherwise have done.”
24.What do we know about Owusu when he was 13
A.He met with Thatcher twice.
B.He joined a famous golf club.
C.He hosted a BBC’s programme.

B.Others’ voting him a hero in Brixton.
C.Thatcher’s efforts to preserve his dignity.
D.Thatcher’s faith in the necessity of toughness.
27.Which of the following is a suitable title for the text

“The opposite of play isn’t work; it’s depression,” says play researcher Stuart Brown. “The adult-play shortage is becoming a public health crisis.” Play may appear insignificant, but recent studies indicate it may be as essential as the need for sleep. Playfulness helps some young animals learn to master their bodies and their environments — and once they do, most stop playing as adults.
“Adult play promotes qualities that we humans could use more of,” says Jeff Harry, a play consultant. Unfortunately, social standards restrain (抑制) our urge to let loose. “Being a playful adult is really disapproved in our society,” he says. “You don’t want people to think that you’re childish.”
“It hasn’t always been this way,” says Peter Gray, a play researcher at Boston University. When Gray reviewed descriptions of the last remaining hunter-gatherer tribes, he noticed that they were often described as “good-humored” and “joyful”. “What we would call work — hunting and gathering — was fun,” he says. “Generally speaking, we like to do the things that are necessary for our survival. Humans took one giant step away from fun when we started planting crops. Then we invented factories and lost sight of play entirely,” Gray adds.
We may be able to reverse this situation, says Harry. As we fully make the transition to a knowledge-based economy, work and play are beginning to merge (合并) again. Some of today’s most successful companies, such as Google and Apple, were started by people tinkering (小修补) in their garages.
“Play is all about looking at a tough world with creativity and optimism,” Brown says. He goes so far as to declare that “adult play is necessary for our survival as a species”.
The next time I’m caught playing, I know exactly what I’ll say, “I am not wasting time, or acting immature. I’m playing for the benefit of all humanity. You’re welcome.”
28.Why does Stuart Brown consider adult play essential
A.It promotes creativity. B.It battles depression.
C.It facilitates cooperation. D.It improves adaptivity.
29.What societal factor restrains adult play according to Jeff Harry
A.Fear of judgment from others. B.Lack of sufficient time for leisure.
C.Cultural emphasis on personal values. D.Pressure from work-related responsibilities
30.Which statement will Peter Gray agree with according to Paragraph 3
A.Adult play contributes positively to work.
B.Social attitudes toward play regularly shift.
C.Humans initially found joy in survival activities.
D.Industrialization closely connected work and play.
31.What is the purpose of the text
A.To stress the significance of adult play. B.To discuss the evolution of work and play.
C.To advocate playfulness in modern businesses. D.To explore the impact of adult play on depression.
D
Initial conversations can have a huge impact on how relationships develop over time. People are often stuck in the impressions they think they might have made the minute they finish speaking with someone for the first time: “Did they like me or were they just being polite ” “Were they deep in thought or deeply bored ”
To find out whether these worries are necessary, we have conducted nearly 10 years of research. In our studies, participants in the UK talked with someone they had never met before. Afterward, they were asked how much they liked their conversation partner and how much they believed that their conversation partner liked them. This allowed us to compare how much people believed they were liked to how much they were actually liked.
Time and time again, we found that people left their conversations with negative feelings about the impression they made. That is, people systematically underestimate how much their conversation partners like them and enjoy their company — a false belief we call the “liking gap”.
This bias (偏见) may seem like something that would occur only in initial interactions, but its effects extend far beyond a first impression. Surprisingly, the liking gap can constantly affect a variety of relationships, including interactions with coworkers, long after the initial conversations have taken place. Having a larger liking gap is associated with being less willing to ask workmates for help, less willing to provide workmates with open and honest feedback, and less willing to work on another project together.
There are numerous strategies to minimize your biased feelings. One place to start is shifting your focus of attention. Try to direct your attention to your conversation partner, be genuinely curious about them, ask them more questions, and really listen to their answers. The more you’re zeroed in on the other person, and the less you’re focused on yourself, the better your conversation will be and the less your mind will turn to all the things you think you didn’t do well.
32.Why did the author carry out 10 years of research
A.To dismiss national concerns. B.To check out a potential bias.
C.To enhance human communication. D.To develop harmonious relationships.
33.What is one effect of people’s liking gap
A.Fewer chances of new projects. B.Underestimation of their ability.
C.Bad relationships with people around. D.Low willingness to interact with others.
34.What does the author intend to do in the last paragraph
A.Restate opinions. B.Deliver warnings.
C.Give suggestions. D.Make a summary.
35.Which might be the best title for the text
A.Liking Gap May Influence Work Performances
B.First Impressions Rely On Initial Conversations
C.People Probably Like You More Than You Think
D.How People Like You Matters Less Than You Assume

Super communicators are people who are consistently able to create real connections with others just by listening and talking. The following are four habits of super communicators.
They know what kind of conversation they’re having. Super communicators are usually able to respond accordingly. If you’re having a practical conversation, your friend might ask you to help make hard decisions. 36 If your friend is just expressing his feelings, you just need to be a good listener.
They prove they’re listening. There are plenty of ways to appear like you’re listening, like making eye contact or nodding. To do that, experts suggest a technique called “cycle for understanding”. Ask a question and listen to the response. Repeat what they just told you. Ask your conversation partner if you got what they said correct. 37
They ask a lot of the right questions. Research shows that highly effective communicators tend to ask 10 to 20 times as many questions as everyone else. They may simply be follow-up questions like “What happened next ”. Super communicators also ask questions that get people to open up. 38 They ask about people’s values or experiences and create an opportunity for emotional connection.
39 The goal of a discussion isn’t to impress someone, convince someone or wait for their turn to speak. It’s to genuinely comprehend someone else’s point of view and share their own views accordingly. The right response creates an atmosphere of trust and openness that both parties can benefit from. 40
A.They aim to understand.
B.Experts call them “deep questions”.
C.They are persuasive communicators.
D.The decisions should be easy to carry out.
E.This practice sounds simple but is powerful.
F.Then you should be ready to give good advice.

I remember the day as clear as glass. I was in 6th grade and my teacher had just announced it was a class break, a time we were allowed to eat snacks and move around the classroom. But on that day, I reached a breaking point.
My friend sat across from me. Two classmates who were attention seekers were making fun of him again. They did something mean to him every day: stealing his school supplies, calling his sister ugly, or laughing at his big head. On this day, they were singing a song about him, “Chicken, chicken Josh.” They sang endlessly and cruelly. Those words were like a bite of hot pepper to my friend, who turned red with anger and embarrassment, while tears of frustration dropped from his eyes. I could see how hopeless he felt.
Normally, I would just sit and watch it all. I was very shy. I rarely spoke during breaks or raised my hand in class. I was so shy, in fact, that my teacher made me a chart to tick every time I raised my hand. She said I’d receive a prize if I filled it up. But I never did. It didn’t help with my shyness; it just made me more self-conscious. But on this particular day, I took a stand. I’d had enough. I stood up and shouted, “Leave him alone!” Silence broke out, all eyes in the room fell on me. But the silence was short-lived as everyone went back to enjoying their break. For the rest of the day, every time the bullies would laugh at my friend during class, I would scream, “Stop troubling him,” or, “It wouldn’t hurt to be nice.”
But these words didn’t help. In fact, it made the situation worse: I too became a victim. From that afternoon on, the two bullies began to make up songs about me. They chanted, pronouncing my name in a different dialect to show I was different from them. This mocking and disrespect upset me a lot. I felt helpless.

B.He joined a famous golf club.
C.He hosted a BBC’s programme.

Unfortunately, that means that Burnside Cafe will have to move. Now I know that we have been at this place for over 20 years and the move will certainly raise a number of challenges. First, I’m going to have to find a suitable new place. Of course I’ll be looking to keep us in the same area, hopefully somewhere right here in this neighborhood. I hope I can get that done by September. After finding a suitable place, the move itself will also be a headache. There are so many things that could go wrong. But all those difficulties can be overcome. Although we’ll face some tough times over the next few months, I know I can look forward to everyone’s complete cooperation. With your help, Burnside Cafe can reopen better than ever.

根据原文:“With a focus on wildlife protection and habitat restoration, the foundation has helped establish numerous national parks and wildlife reserves.” B. setting up national parks and wildlife reserves(建立国家公园和野生动物保护区)。
根据原文:“They use science, economics, and law to find environmental solutions that work with industry and government.” B “By using science, economics, and law to find solutions” (通过使用科学、经济学和法律来找到解决方案)是正确答案。
根据原文:“They work closely with local communities to develop sustainable practices that protect the environment and improve livelihoods.” Ecology and Environment Foundation (EEF) D. Granting rights of local communities to develop sustainable practices(赋予当地社区发展可持续做法的能力)是正确的。

D.He lived at the bottom of society.
25.What do the underlined words “sliding-door moment” in paragraph 4 probably mean
A.Turning point. B.Important decision.
C.Social status. D.Remarkable achievement.
26.Based on the text, what made a big difference to Owusu
A.Others’ treating him equally at work.
B.Others’ voting him a hero in Brixton.
C.Thatcher’s efforts to preserve his dignity.
D.Thatcher’s faith in the necessity of toughness.
27.Which of the following is a suitable title for the text
A.The Art of Dialogue B.The Power of Confidence
C.A Life-changing Meeting D.A Status-improving Tale
【答案】24.D 25.A 26.D 27.C
根据第二段“At the time of their meeting, Owusu was on free school meals, living on a public estate in Brixton, south London, where he and his sister were being raised by their mother Rose, a struggling hairdresser.(在他们相遇的时候,Owusu在学校吃免费午餐,住在伦敦南部布里克斯顿的一处公共住宅里,他和妹妹由母亲罗斯抚养,她是一名苦苦挣扎的美发师。)”
根据第三段“To this day it still has an impact. My confidence changed(直到今天,它仍然有影响。我的信心改变了)”可知,从那一刻Owusu的信心改变了,说明那是一个转折点,sliding-door moment的意思是“转折点”,和Turning point意思相近,故选A。
26.细节理解题。根据倒数第二段“Because so often people have said to me if you’re in your job you’ve got to be soft and warm and human, but you’ve got to have a touch of steel.(因为人们经常对我说,如果你在工作中,你必须温柔、温暖、人性化,但你也必须有一点钢铁的感觉。)”和“She welcomed the question saying you’ve got to be firm in this world. And that stuck with me.(她对这个问题表示欢迎,说在这个世界上你必须要坚定。这让我印象深刻。)”可知,Thatcher坚信强硬的必要性使Owusu发生了巨大的变化。故选D。
27.主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是第三段“Speaking in its clubhouse, Owusu describes his rise in social status (地位) as a “Thatcherite Journey”. And he says it began by asking the woman herself. “To this day it still has an impact. My confidence changed from that sliding-door moment. Something about her connected with me.”(在俱乐部里,Owusu将自己社会地位的提升描述为“撒切尔之旅”。他说,首先要问这位女士本人。“直到今天,它仍然有影响,我的信心从那一刻起就改变了。她身上的某种东西与我联系在一起。”)”可知,本文主要讲的是Emest Owusu受到Thatcher夫人的影响,从而改变了自己的人生,因此最恰当的标题是C选项“A Life-changing Meeting(改变人生的会面)”。故选C。
C
【答案】28.B 29.A 30.C 31.A
根据第一段中Stuart Brown所说的话“The opposite of play isn’t work; it’s depression (游戏的反义词不是工作,而是抑郁)”和“The adult-play shortage is becoming a public health crisis. (成人游戏的短缺正成为一场公共健康危机)”可知,Stuart Brown认为成人玩游戏重要的原因在于它可以对抗抑郁。故选B项。
29.
细节理解题。根据第二段中Jeff Harry所说的话“Being a playful adult is really disapproved in our society (在我们的社会里,做一个爱玩的成年人是不被认可的)”和“You don’t want people to think that you’re childish. (你不想让别人觉得你幼稚)”可知,Jeff Harry认为成人害怕被别人评判的心理导致他们限制自己进行游戏。故选A项。
30.
根据第三段中“When Gray reviewed descriptions of the last remaining hunter-gatherer tribes, he noticed that they were often described as “good-humored” and “joyful”. “What we would call work — hunting and gathering — was fun,” he says. (当Gray回顾对最后幸存的狩猎采集部落的描述时,他注意到他们经常被描述为“幽默”和“快乐”。“我们所谓的工作——狩猎和采集——很有趣,”他说)”和“Generally speaking, we like to do the things that are necessary for our survival. (一般来说,我们喜欢做生存所必需的事情)”可知,Peter Gray发现这些部落在狩猎和采集这样的生存活动中得到了乐趣,变得幽默而快乐。由此推知,他会赞同“人类最初在生存活动中找到快乐”的观点。故选C项。
31.
推理判断题。通读全文,并结合第一段中“Play may appear insignificant, but recent studies indicate it may be as essential as the need for sleep. (玩耍可能看起来微不足道,但最近的研究表明,它可能和睡眠一样重要)”可知,文章主要讨论了成人玩游戏对个体和社会的重要性。研究表明,游戏不仅可以帮助小动物学会控制自己和环境,还可以帮助成人对抗抑郁。然而,社会往往并不认可成人玩游戏的行为。但实际上,狩猎采集部落中的工作实际上是有趣而快乐的。由此可知,文章的写作目的在于强调成人玩游戏的重要性。故选A项。
根据第一段“Initial conversations can have a huge impact on how relationships develop over time. People are often stuck in the impressions they think they might have made the minute they finish speaking with someone for the first time: “Did they like me or were they just being polite ” “Were they deep in thought or deeply bored ”(最初的对话会对关系的发展产生巨大的影响。人们常常会陷入自己第一次和别人说话时留下的印象中:“他们是喜欢我还是只是出于礼貌?”“他们是在沉思还是很无聊?”)”以及第二段“To find out whether these worries are necessary, we have conducted nearly 10 years of research.(为了弄清楚这些担忧是否有必要,我们进行了近10年的研究)”可知,作者进行10年的研究是为了找出潜在的偏见。故选B。
根据倒数第二段“Having a larger liking gap is associated with being less willing to ask workmates for help, less willing to provide workmates with open and honest feedback, and less willing to work on another project together.(好感认知差距越大,就越不愿意向同事寻求帮助,越不愿意向同事提供公开和诚实的反馈,越不愿意一起完成另一个项目)”可知,好感认知差距的一个影响是与他人互动的意愿低。故选D。
根据最后一段“There are numerous strategies to minimize your biased feelings. One place to start is shifting your focus of attention. Try to direct your attention to your conversation partner, be genuinely curious about them, ask them more questions, and really listen to their answers. The more you’re zeroed in on the other person, and the less you’re focused on yourself, the better your conversation will be and the less your mind will turn to all the things you think you didn’t do well.(有很多策略可以减少你的偏见。可以从转移你的注意力开始。试着把你的注意力转移到你的谈话对象身上,真诚地对他们感到好奇,问他们更多的问题,并认真倾听他们的回答。你越关注对方,越少关注自己,你们的对话就会越好,你也就越不会去想那些你认为自己做得不好的事情)”可知,作者在最后一段想给出建议。故选C。
35.主旨大意题。根据第三段“Time and time again, we found that people left their conversations with negative feelings about the impression they made. That is, people systematically underestimate how much their conversation partners like them and enjoy their company — a false belief we call the “liking gap”.(我们一次又一次地发现,人们在结束谈话时对自己留下的印象感到消极。
G.And that is actually the most magical thing that can happen.
【答案】36.F 37.E 38.B 39.A 40.G
36.根据下文“If your friend is just expressing his feelings, you just need to be a good listener.(如果你的朋友只是在表达他的感受,你只需要做一个好的倾听者)”可知,当朋友只是表达感受时,我们只需要倾听。结合空处上文“If you’re having a practical conversation, your friend might ask you to help make hard decisions.(如果你正在进行一场实际的对话,你的朋友可能会让你帮忙做一些艰难的决定)”可知,如果朋友拿不定主意时,超级沟通者会给出建议。F项“Then you should be ready to give good advice.(那么你应该准备好给出好的建议)”符合语境,advice呼应上文hard decision。

The bullies stopped their antics, and my friend and I were finally able to enjoy our school days without fear or intimidation.
