1. whole
He ate the whole cake!
整体而言,总的来说 on the whole
On the whole, I think it's a good idea.
all the family / the whole family 全家
All my friends are poor.
(3).在不可数名词之前一般用 all,而不用 whole (偶尔有例外:the whole time / all the time; his whole energy / all his energy 等),但在物质名词前则绝对不用 whole。例如:
误:the whole money 正:all the money 所有的钱
(4).在表示地点的专有名词之前,一般用 all 而不用 whole,但可用the whole of。
例如:
all China / the whole of China 全中国
all (the) day /the whole day 整天
all (the) spring /the whole spring
I waited for her a / the whole hour.

People read books less often these days. With the invention of TVs , computer games and mobile phones, it seems that reading books is no longer a popular activity. However, I believe that books are an important part of our lives.
Books offer an outstanding wealth (财富) of learning and are at a cheaper price than taking a course. Books can make people cleverer, because heavy readers have greater knowledge(知识) of how things work and who or what people are.
Everything needs reading. Imagine trying to do something as simple as reading the notes(注意) on a medicine bottle(瓶子) without good reading skills. Someone could not understand them and become very sick or even die.
Even something as simple as walking or driving through the city could become very dangerous without enough reading. Sometimes, you must be able to understand what is written and explain the meaning of them.
With a book, you can travel anywhere you want, do anything you want, and talk to anyone you want. Reading is very important in our lives, no matter your age.
So I think people should read books.

七选五
How do people find their inner talent British author and speaker Sir Kenneth Robinson talked about this at TED. He told the story of Gillian Lynne, a dancer and a choreographer(编舞者) who has worked on famous musicals like Cats and Phantom of the Opera(《歌剧魅影》).
31. She couldn′t think carefully about she′s learning and often found herself unable to keep still because she was bored. Her mother was quite worried about her. She took Lynne to a doctor. For 20 minutes, she talked about the problems Lynne was having in school. 32. As they left the room, the doctor turned on the radio. He then said to Lynne′s mother,“Just stand and watch her.” 33. The doctor then turned to Lynne′s mother and said,“Mrs. Lynne, your daughter isn′t sick. She′s a dancer. Take her to a dance school.”
So she did. 34. Lynne later went to the Royal Ballet School, one of the world′s greatest dance schools, and became a great dancer.
After leaving the school, she worked on some of the most successful musicals in history. 35.
Those who never did well in school needn′t worry. Find your inner talent like Lynne, and you can also succeed.
A.The doctor played the music to calm her daughter down.
B.Gillian Lynne never did well in school as a child.
C.The minute they left the room, Lynne was on her feet, dancing to the music on the radio.
D.It is hard to believe that years ago, somebody else would just put her on medication(药物治疗) and tell her to calm down.
E.Then, the doctor said to Lynne, “I need to talk to your mother first. Wait here.”
F.Lynne just stood here and watched her mother.
G.Lynne′s new dance school was full of people just like her—people who had to move in order to think.
