China’s first panda-themed tourist train, known as the “Panda train” left Chengdu Railway Station in Sichuan’s provincial capital for Zunyi in neighboring Cuizhou province on Sunday night. The train is decorated with giant panda images, and attendants carry panda toys and passengers can even try panda-shaped food. The “panda train” will start operation on March 28. It will serve on fixed lines and customized lines to connect tourist attractions in Sichuan and neighboring provinces.
In the future, the train will operate on a number of rail lines linking Chengdu and Chongqing, Chongqing and Guiyang, Shanghai and Kunming in Sichuan, Guzhou provinces and Chongqing municipality.
Ticket offer:
The three-day trip costs 1,280 yuan, including food, accommodation and entrance tickets to scenic spots in Guizhou.
Facilities:
The train, which doubles as a mobile star-rated hotel, can accommodate 252 passengers. It has a dining room, bar, karaoke room, dance hall and mahjong room. The 12 cars have individual rooms for two or four passengers, and each room has a washroom with a toilet and shower facilities.

Wu Wuliu, a visual designer based in Shanghai, recently caused significant controversy online when he used AI to “bring his late grandmother back to life” and engaged in a conversation with her in the video he posted
After mimicking his late grandmother’s appearance, voice, personality, and memories through AI applications, Wu input her photos into the programs to create a lifelike image and uploaded her verbal messages to simulate her voice and accent. Finally, he turned the AI-generated language into conversations between him and his “grandmother”, who can blink, nod, and even laugh heartily. When Wu asked her if she had prepared holiday goods for the Spring Festival, she responded in dialect, “I bought two bottles of cooking oil and they smell good.”

Volunteering is something that is usually not at the top of young people’s lists. But with a little bit of a push from student organizations and nonprofit organizations volunteerism and community change can start to take a huge lead. They become not just something that will look good on a resume (简历) or college application, but a first concern and a learning experience for the young.
I did a considerable amount of community work during my summer breaks. A few times I would go down to the church and help with the sorting and handing out of canned foods to the homeless. The ragged (破旧的) cloth and the look of upset printed on the faces of the people I handed food to reminded me of the hard realities of our society today, and the difficulty many people face in achieving their self-worth. I was also reminded of the fact that the statistics we hear every day about homelessness are real people-not just numbers. The largest percentage of people who are homeless is in fact, not the men on the street, but families: mothers, children of all ages, and fathers.
The most important thing I’ve learned from my volunteer experiences is that people are not powerless; as a matter of fact, we have a great deal of potential (潜力). I learned how exciting it is to realize how much fun you have in your own life and how beautiful it is to share that with others and hoped that they will discover it themselves. I learned how giving human beings are, even when they don’t have much to give. These are important to help us open doors of understanding and take time to actively listen and communicate with our community members.
The relationship between young people and nonprofit organizations can be the start of a great change in the community and should be a very powerful educational experience. An open-minded and promising flow of communication between organizations and community members can be the start of social and environmental change. Together, we can make the change.
8.What can we learn about volunteering from the first paragraph

A. His necessity to improve himself.
B. His willingness to do community work.
C. The great suffering of many homeless people.
D. The amazingly large number of the homeless.
10.What does the author think is important to have community under-standing
A. Supporting each other with financial giving.
B. Developing our potential to discover beauty.
C. Knowing our ability to share fun with others.
D. Taking time to solve neighborhood problems.
11.What’s the author’s probable purpose in writing the text
A. To call on the young to volunteer.
B. To share his volunteer experiences.
C. To explain the benefits of volunteering.
D. To introduce suitable community work
The old saying that “laughter is the best medicine” may contain an element of truth when it comes to heart health. A research has demonstrated that laughing causes the tissue inside the heart to expand and increases oxygen flow around the body.
“Our study found that laughter treatment increased the functional capacity of the cardiovascular (心血管的) system, and patients with heart disease who engaged in a course of laughter treatment had reduced inflammation (炎症) and better health.” said the lead author, Prof Marco Safffi, of the Hospital de Clinicas de Porto Alegre in Brazil.
In the trial, scientists carried out a first-of-its-kind study to examine if laughter treatment could improve symptoms of patients with heart disease. It involved 26 adults with an average age of 64, all diagnosed with the heart disease caused by plaque (斑块) buildup in the walls of the arteries (动脉) that supply blood to the heart. Over three months, half were asked to watch two different hour-long comedy programmes each week, including funny popular sitcoms. The other half watched two different serious documentaries, about heavy topics such as politics or the Amazon rainforest.
At the end of the 12-week study period, the comedy group improved by 10% in a test measuring how much oxygen their heart could pump around the body. The group also improved in a second measure that tested how well arteries can expand. They also had a blood test to measure several inflammatory markers, which indicate how much plaque has built up in the blood vessels and whether people are at risk of heart attack or stroke. The results showed that their inflammatory markers had significantly reduced compared with the documentary group.
“When patients with heart disease arrive at hospital, they usually have a lot of inflammatory markers.” said Saffi. “It’s really good news that laughter treatment is a good intervention that could help reduce inflammation and decrease the risk of heart attack and stroke.”
12.How does laughter help patients with heart disease
A. It makes the tissue inside the heart become larger
B. It lowers the oxygen flow around the patients’ body
C. It reduces the function of the cardiovascular system
D. It increases inflammation and results in better health

A. Laughter treatment — A powerful weapon to cure heart disease.

Yoghurt
It was a rough week. The price of oil skyrocketed as the temperature dropped sharply in Maine. We were looking at a high of eight degrees that week, and I had missed three days of work so my paycheck was going to be lower than normal. I was stressed, to say the least. I shopped strategically, looking for every possible way to cut pennies so I could buy groceries and keep the house warm.
My eight-year-old son didn't understand when I told him we were struggling that week. He wanted a special kind of yoghurt, but I didn't have the three extra dollars to buy it for him. It was a kind of yoghurt with a cartoon kid riding a skateboard on the front of the box, and a mere two spoonfuls in each cup. It was a kind of product that wasted a parent's money and made me hate advertising.
I felt guilty as a parent when those big eyes looked at me with confusion, as if to say, “It's just yoghurt. What's the big deal " So I found a way. I put something back as single mothers often do. He got his yoghurt.
On the way driving back from the grocery store, I noticed a homeless man holding a sign by the side of the road. My heart hurt, and I tried not to look at him. I watched people stay away from him on the street and walk by without even meeting his eyes. My son didn't seem to care much, either. I looked at the man closely then-bare hands grasping a piece of cardboard, snot frozen to his face, a worn-out jacket. And there I was struggling because I had to buy oil and groceries. But I decided to help. I pulled over to the man and handed him a five-dollar bill.

④根据后文"Many of us regret something we once said. We remember unkind words said to us as well.(很多人对自己说过的话感到后悔。我们也记 得别人对我们说过的不友善的话) "可知,后文提到很多人对自己说出的话感到后悔,也记得他人对自 己说过的不友善的话,说明人们说出的话语有持久的影响。故E选项"语言具有力量,因为它们具有持久的影响"符合语境,故选E。
⑤根据上文"Words possess power: both positive and negative. Those around us receive encouragement when we speak positively. We can offer hope, build self-esteem and motivate others to do their best. Negative words destroy all those things.(话语具有积极的和消极的力量。

be likely to do sth.可能做某事。
④考查介词。句意:研究表明,和先天因素相比,这可能更多地与养育(后天因素)有关,因为母亲的生活方式似乎与孩子的健康直接相关。根据空前的more判断此处填than,表示比较。

34.答案:
Paragraph 1:
Seeing this, my son became confused and surprised. “Mum, why are you so generous to this stranger while so mean to me when I asked for a yoghurt " I explained that if we were blind to the poor man's situation, he would be freezing. He didn't have a home or food to eat after all. We could spare five dollars even if we were financially stressed. Finally, my son nodded and fixed his eyes on his yoghurt.
Paragraph 2:
On that day, my son performed an act that most adults wouldn't have done. He took his yoghurt and handed it to the man outside his window. Even if it was just a matter of a few spoonfuls of yoghurt, it was all he had, and he gave it to someone who needed it more than he wanted it. He showed me that I was doing well as a mother. There are always blessings to count if we open our eyes, and we always have the opportunity to be a blessing for someone else.
