教材分析
该板块以“描述喜欢的地方”(Describe a place that you like)为活动主题，引导学生通过阅读爱尔兰乡村的美丽景色和风土人情一文，体会城市与乡村和谐地融为一体的欧洲文化特色，以此为基础，引导学生通过描写自己熟悉的、有趣的、令人兴奋或惊讶的地点，反思和探索国内、尤其是身边景点、喜欢的地方的历史文化价值，挖掘并了解其相关历史文化传统，同时表达自己的感受和情感。
教学目标
1. 能正确理解使用下列词汇：poet, rolling, cattle, ocean, greet, pub, wine, custom。
2. 引导学生在语境中理解和学习文本中出现的新词汇。
3．阅读科普类文章，理解其文体语言、结构特征，获取有效信息。
4. 引导学生掌握通过感官来感知景物，生动地描述自己喜欢的地方。
5. 阅读文章后分析文章结构，能够用所学语言知识来描述自己喜欢的地方、景点。表达自己的感受和情感。
教学重难点
【教学重点】
指导学生比较生动、细致地描写所熟悉地点的景物，并恰当地表达自己的感受。
【教学难点】
引导学生掌握运用感官体验的方法来描述自己喜欢的地方。
教学过程
Step 1 Warming-up
Look at the pictures of Ireland’s countryside and describe your first impression of the country.
设计意图：用图片直观地介绍本课话题，引起学生兴趣的同时，学习生词，为下面的阅读活动准备铺垫。
Step 2 Pre-reading
Predict the main idea of the text according to the title and the given picture.
设计意图：引导学生通过理解题目、观察图片来猜测文章主旨。
Step 3 While-reading
1. Read for the main idea.
2. Read the text and discuss the questions in pairs.
(1) What makes the Irish countryside exciting and inspiring
(2) What are the best ways to experience some Irish traditions and cultures
(3) What is the meaning of “breathe in the sweet scent of fresh flowers while birds greet the new day with their morning song”
4. Read the text again and decide whether the sentences are true (T) or false (F).
5. Study the roles of sense organs in describing the favorite places by showing a mind map.
Step 4 Pre-writing
1. Analyse the descriptive paragraph to identify and underline the paragraph’s introductory sentence(s) and the ending sentence(s).
2. Read for the structure.
设计意图：通过不同的阅读理解活动，引起学生的阅读兴趣，并激活学生的相关内容图式。从不同角度、不同层次设计的活动既帮助学生强化文章主旨、细节的理解，又能培养学生抓住“感官”线索来写作的能力。
