教学目标
By the end of this class, students are expected to:
Ⅰ.understanding and learning 1. understand the rules of “can” through conversations and games. 2. know the meaning of new words and expressions and learn to use them. 3. know the form of a recruitment poster (招聘海报) and find basic elements in it.
Ⅱ.applying and practicing 4. apply and practice the modal verb “can” to ask and answer questions. 5. use the key words and the modal verb “can” to give a short report. 6. evaluate peers’ report by looking at the checklist.
Ⅲ.transferring and creating 7.increase their interests on talking about their hobbies and abilities. 8.develop their critical thinking and creative thinking through group work.
教学内容
教学重点: It is essential for students to 1. understand the rules of “can” through conversations and games.
2. know the meaning of new words and expressions and learn to use them. 3. apply and practice the modal verb “can” to ask and answer questions
教学难点: It is difficult for students to 1. use the key words and the modal verb “can” to give a short report. 2. evaluate peers’ report by looking at the checklist.
教学过程
(步骤及设计意图) Step 1:P1,P2 Revision Introduce a school show. And tell them something about the school show. Then ask students about their abilities. T: Hi, everyone. Nice to meet you here. We are going to hold a school show. And we need some talented students. Now I would like to ask some questions. Tom, Can you speak English S1: Yes, I can. T: Pretty good. John, Can you tell stories S2: No, I can’t. T: I’m sorry to hear that. Sally, can you dance S3: Yes, I can. And I can dance well. T: Wow, wonderful. Mary, Can you play the guitar S4: No, I can’t. But I can play the piano. T: Wow, pretty good. And what about you Can you sing S5:Yes, I can. And I want to be a singer one day. T: How talented you are!And I know most of you have joined different clubs. I really want to know more about you. Let’s work in pairs and make your own conversations. Then T invites two groups to show their conversations. 设计意图:Review the key words and expressions they learned before and use a school show to lead in to make Ss relaxed and try to say something about their talents. 对应教学目标1,4和7. Step 2:P3, P4 Grammar focus task1:Ask students to read the sentences aloud and find out some rules. T: In the form, can you find some rules Ss: Yes, I can. It is about rules of “can”. T:Good, circle these “can” . Now, let’s play a game to find out the rules of “can”. 设计意图:Encourage Ss to find out rules by themselves. Make the grammar class more interesting. Step 3:P5, P6, P7, P8, P9, P10, Grammar focus task2: Let students choose different numbers and answer the questions. And try to make a conclusion by themselves. T: Now, let’s play a game. S1: I choose the first one. T: OK. Wish you good luck. S1: It’s so easy. “Can’t” or “can not”. T: Great! For example: She can swim. She can’t swim. And can you fill in the blanks. S1: Yes. “can” and “动词原形”.“can’t” and “动词原形” T: Wonderful! Then T invites other five students to choose other numbers and answer different questions. At last, let Ss make a conclusion of rules of “can”. 设计意图:Through a game, Ss can choose different numbers to answer different questions. This could help Ss feel it is interesting to learn grammar. And combining games with grammar is a easy way to present knowledge.对应教学目标1和4. Step 4:P11, Grammar task3: Let students write the questions and answers with the words and phrases. 设计意图:Ask students to practice what they have learned. 对应教学目标4. Step 5:P12, Grammar task4: complete the poster with the words in the box. After learning rules of “can”. T leads Ss to a topic about the school show and talk about some information about how to make a poster. T: Now we know a lot of rules of “can”. And let’s come back to our first topic— “students wanted for school show”. Here is a poster. Can you help me complete it. S1: Can you sing or dance Can you play the guitar Can you tell stories T: Excellent! And who can tell me how to make a poster. S2: Write the name and the title. Oh, don’t forget the picture. T: Good points. And more. S3: We should write “can you ... ” T: Great. And don’t forget how to contact us. 设计意图:Expand the poster and let students cultivate the abilities of reviewing and summing-up. This could help Ss think more and say more.对应教学目标3. Step 6:P13, P14, Group work: ask others about their abilities. Writing task: make a list about group members’ abilities. T leads Ss to ask group members about their abilities and write down. T: Now, let’s share your list. Try to make a report S1: My name is Lily. There are 6 people in my group. I can play the piano. Lihua can play the guitar. Tom can sing and dance. John can tell stories. Lucy can swim. T: Good job. If you add some linking words. It will be better. S2: My name is Lucy. In my group, Sally can dance. In her free time, she enjoys dancing with me. Tina can play the guitar. And Dale can sing well. James can sing well, too. At last, Peter can play chess very well.
