To aware the importance of protecting the animals in danger.
教学内容
教学重点: 1. To master the target words, phrases, and sentence like save, symbol, flag, forget, get lost, place, cut down, kill, ivory, be made of, be in (great) danger… 2. To use the reading strategies of scanning and careful reading to comprehend the article. 教学难点: 1.To grasp the outline of the article by using mind map. 2. To aware the importance of protecting the animals in danger.
教学过程
Step 1. Lead in 1.Guide the students to travel to the forest in Thailand and ask the students to guess the animal according to the footprint and sound. 2. Watch a video about elephants. Arouse and stimulate students’ interests and existed knowledge. Lead in the topic.
Step 2 Fast-reading 1.Guide the students to look at the website and answer the questions: Q1: Where are the students from Q2: What do they want to do 2. Read the article quickly and find out the main idea of it. 3. Match the main idea of each part. Cultivate students’ prediction skill and skimming skill. Ask students to get the information from the pictures.
Step 3 Careful-reading 1.Guide the students to read paragraph 1and answer the questions: Q1: What’s one of Thailand’s symbols Q2: Which one is the first flag of Thailand Q3: What does the white elephant mean 2. Figure out the references “our”, “it” and “this”. Cultivate students’ scanning skill and tease the key information about the article. Cultivate students’ reading skill of figuring the references.
3.Read paragraph 2 in detail and fill in the charts. 4. Watch a short video about the facts of elephants’ lives now in Thailand. 5.Guide the students to read paragraph 3and answer the questions: Q1: Why are elephants in danger Q2: How can we save the elephants Summarize the information.
Step 4 Post-reading 1.Summary: Fill in the blanks. 2.Watch a short a video and think about other animals in danger, and the talk about one kind of animal. Summarize the information. Further thinking. Talk about the topic with the target language.
Task 1.Retell the passage according to the mind map. 2.Draw a poster about the animal in danger. Consolidate the language use.
