教学目标
语言知识。 (1) 学生学会新词汇:would like, noodle, potato, beef, mutton, cabbage, special, size, a (large) bowl of (2) 学生掌握句型:—What kind of noodles would you like —I’d like...noodles. —What size would you like —I’d like a … bowl of noodles. 语言技能。 (1) 学生可以用英语表达常见食物的名称。 (2) 学生可以用含有would like的句式问答,完成点餐过程。 情感态度。 学生在用英语点餐的过程中,体会顾客和服务员的不同角色要求:作为顾客,保持礼貌,并表达自己的用餐意愿和喜好;作为服务员,勤做记录,并热情细心。 学习策略。 学生通过情景学习、合作学习等,完成课堂中各项任务。 学生会用单词首字母速记,获取听力信息。 文化意识。 学生体验点餐过程,从不同角度加深对中餐文化的了解,激发民族自信、民族自豪感。(2) 学生知晓要珍惜食物,将“光盘行动”进行到底。
教学内容
教学重点: 1. 本课时新词汇、新句型。
2. 情态动词would的用法。
教学难点: 1. 面条种类的两种不同表达方式。
2. 点餐过程中不同身份的角色体验。
教学过程
Step 1 Lead-in Activity 1 Read the picture. (Show the theme picture to students, and ask some questions.) T: Let’s look the picture here. Where are they Ss: They are in a Chinese restaurant. T: How do you know it Ss: Because we can the woman is wearing a Chipao. And here are two lanterns. On the table we can see some chopsticks in a container with a dragon on it. T: Who are the two people. Ss: The woman is a waitress and the boy is a customer T: So, What is the customer doing Ss: He is ordering food. T: Right. And this time let’s try the food together. Here are four steps for you. Step 2 Let’s say Activity 2 Tell the names of the foods. (Show pictures to students, and let them say the names out.) T: Look! What are they Ss: Duck, chicken, beef and mutton. (Teach the new words: beef, mutton.) T: We call them “meat”. T: How about them Ss: Tomatoes, potatoes, carrots and cabbage. (Teach the new word: cabbage.) T: All of these are “vegetables”. Step 3 Let’s learn (Show pictures to students, and teach guide them to express the kinds of noodles.) T: What are the specials in the Chinese restaurant (Teach the new word: special.) Ss: Special one is beef and tomato noodles. Special two is chicken and cabbage noodles. Special three is mutton, potato and carrot noodles. (Guide the students to pay attention the intonations.) Activity 3 Practice the talk. T: For me, I’d like beef and tomato noodles. I would like beef and tomato noodles. What kind of noodles would you like. (Students work in pairs to practice the talk.) Step 4 Let’s listen Activity 4 1b. Listen and check(√) the noodles that the person orders. T: So, what kind of noodles would this customer like (Play the recording for students.) Ss: The customer would like special one, beef and tomato noodles. Step 5 Let’s imitate Activity 5 Imitate the conversation. T: OK, it’s time for imitating. (Students imitate the conversation after the recording.) T: Here, pay attention to the intonations. Lets’ listen and try again. T: We can see the customer uses “please” here. What do you thinks of him Ss: He is polite. T: Remember to be polite. And is the waitress polite Ss: No. T: Maybe not. How can she be more polite Ss: She can say “Good morning!” or “May I take your order ” T: But we can still tell that she’s a good waitress. Because, look, she is always taking notes. And it helps a lot. Step 6 Let’s learn T: The following is step three. We need to decide the size.Here are three size. Let’s look together. Ss: There is a small bowl of noodles, a medium bowl of noodles, and a large bowl of noodles. (Teach the new words: size, bowl, large.) Activity 6 Practice the talk. T: I’d like a medium bowl of noodles. What size would you like (Students work in pairs to practice the talk.) Step 7 Let’s try Activity 7 Practice the conversation. T: Now, we can order food. Always remember to order the food you like. The structures can help you. (Students work in pairs to practice the conversation.) Step 7 Let’s listen Activity 8 2a. Listen and check(√) the names of the food in the box. T: What would other customers like to eat (Play the recording for students.) Ss: They would like noodles, beef, tomatoes, cabbage, potatoes, and vegetables. Activity 9 2b. Listen again. Complete the sentences. T: What kind and what size would they like (Remind students to use suitable listening strategy.) Ss: The boy says: I’d like a large bowl of noodles. I’d like chicken, cabbage and cabbage noodles. T: Can you read the second sentence correctly Listen carefully and try. Ss: The girl says: I’d like a medium bowl .I’d like beef and tomato noodles, please T: Also, try to read the second sentence correctly. (Guide students to pay attention to the intonations; guide students to tell the kind of the noodles by using “with”.) Step 8 Let’s read T: Since the Chinese restaurant is so popular, Sally and Tom come to eat here, too. They read the menu very carefully and decide to try something really special. Now, let’s read and answer the questions. Activity 10 Read and answer the questions. T: What would Sally and Tom like Ss: They’d like one large bowl of beef soup, one gongbao chicken, and one mapo tofu with rice. T: Does Sally like vegetables Ss: Yes, she does. Because she’d like beef soup with some vegetables. And she likes tomatoes. T: Why does the waitress repeat their food Ss: Because she’d like to make sure the food is right. T: From this, we can know the waitress is careful. Step 9 Let’s imitate Activity 10 Imitate the conversation. T: This time, let’s imitate with the recording. T: We have known how to order food. How about being good waiters or waitresses Ss: First, we should greet and offer help. Next, we should take the orders. Finally, we should make sure the food is right. Step 10 Let’s role-play Activity 11 Role-play with partners. T: After imitating, it’s your turn to role-play. Suppose Jim Brown, a vegetarian from the UK, comes to eat here. Please order food. You can work in pairs. (Explain the task more specifically and guide the students to write the structures that can be used first.) Step 11 Let’s assess Activity 12 Assess your own work. T: After the conversation, you are supposed to assess your own work. Please give stars on Self-check List. Step 12 Assignments Oral work: Finish the role-play conversation with your partner.
